    You are missing the point.
S1H form factor is unique amongst the other approved Netflix cinema cameras.
If an Arri is your A-cam, It could be used as a B-cam.
And not rating an S1H's image highly or using an S1H yourself just because an Alexa Mini exists, is the most stupid reason ever to dismiss a tool.
For a start, it is $54,000 cheaper.
Do you personally have a Netflix size budget for your work?
If so, your opinion is first hand. If not, you're a speculative sofa surfer, basically trolling. Throwing rocks at something which plays in the same league as an Alexa Mini for $4000, which doesn't seem very clever to me.

This does look like an incredible camera. Raw over HDMI coming! That's exciting.
But... no announcement of price or release date? Very strange...

That's a bit of a stretch. Sony being Sony, you know the a7s3 will be gimped in some way like low bitrates, or they'll finally go 10-bit, but only 8-bit internal, but they'll wow everyone with the new AF system. No way the a7s3 has the video specs of the S1H, that's too far into FS territory. And it'll still have Sony's shitty LCD hinge and useless touchscreen that I hate so much on my a73 and a7r3. Will it get the 5.7mp EVF? Maybe or maybe not. Right now absolutely nothing is known outside of a vague statement saying it will exceed expectations. Given recent releases, my expectations are a new sensor and mild evolutionary updates. 10-bit internal would exceed my expectations, so would PDAF.
The Fp - little is known at this point and Sigma cameras have never really been competitive price wise with others in its class. It wouldn't surprise me if the Fp was $4000. They're a small company and this will be a small volume camera. To make their nut, IMO its not going to be cheap.
Panasonic is playing the long game and with the new Sigma lenses the L-mount will take shape pretty quickly over the next year. The 2.8 zooms are coming in the next few weeks according to rumors. The AF issues do need to be addressed, they really need a more competitive system to make the bodies more adapter friendly with Canon lenses. Right now the AF with adapted lenses is pretty awful. Since the S1H shares a lot with the rest of the S1 line, development costs are lower than a completely new camera like the EVA1. I do think their lens pricing is out of whack, while they are class leading, getting people to buy in is a tall ask when the lenses AND bodies are more expensive than the competition. Sigma lenses can't come fast enough to make the L-mount more viable.
People are saying Nikon mirrorless - and Nikon in general - is dead after the Z6/7's lukewarm reception. The AF update fixed a lot of the issues at launch - they really should have sorted that first, but I can see why they went the route they did. You have to start somewhere, and like Panasonic they got a lot right. How they respond to shortcomings with the next bodies will be telling.

After receiving yet another email from B&H that they're still waiting on the DMW-SFU2 Lumix S1 Filmmaker V-Log Upgrade Software Keys from Panasonic I decided last week to take matters into my own hands and reach out to Panasonic directly to inquire as to the hold up...
Several attempts (going back to last Thursday) to get through their phone system resulted in dead-ends as I encountered "Please call back during normal business hours" messages...those call attempts made during their "normal business hours"! Haw!
Well, good fortune shone today as I just got off the phone with a Supervisor at Panasonic USA's Customer Support line (800 211 7262) who informs (after some prodding for a specific date or time estimate) that Panasonic will have their backlog of B&H Customer DMW-SFU2 codes delivered to B&H by the end of September.
I can't say where hearing that I might have to wait up to yet another month+ came as particularly happy news considering that I purchased the camera back in the Spring (early May), watched their Summer (July) V-Log release promise blow on by like a runaway train, and now, hopefully, I might be able to make some Autumn (late September/early October) shooting plans? Oofah.
Well, "shame on me" as the saying goes, lesson learned I'll not be giving Panasonic the benefit of my being an early-adopter again.
Oop, almost forgot the punchline...I'm still waiting for my 3-year Extended Warranty confirmation from them, as well, the Supervisor also informed that that takes them at least 60-days to process! Ahahahah!

Of course you'd find a way to be negative about this. Been putting down these S cameras post after post. Now the S1H will do RAW too courtesy of Atomos! I'm sure you have something negative to say about that too. Oh, and Sony doesn't even offer 10bit internal or external on any of their cameras. Stuck on 8bit no 4K60p! In 2019! LOL

I don't understand how specs can be disappointing when there isn't a major camera company doing what the S1H can do in this price range?
It's fine if it's not for you, but to act like this isn't a major release that raises the bar is just crazy.
Every other company will have to match or beat the Panasonic.

With the overall positive reception of the S1 firmware update and the very pleasing image coming out of Panasonic’s new full frame camera, I’m thinking the S1H is going to be something special. The L-mount is building a lot of momentum with Sigmas fp and forthcoming glass and Panasonic’s usual firmware feature bonanza.
Really quite impressed with Panasonic’s push here in a crowded full frame market and grim camera industry outlook.

@Skip77 You are not trying to help. You are jerking your ego with an argument, soapboxing, being disparaging to others, and dragging all of us thru it. That's my experience of your presence and intention anyway.
So how about F*CK OFF this thread and give users who either own or are genuinely interested in the camera the opportunity to share and work with one another to get the most out of the tool.
Minimally, I will ignore you and I suggest others not reply or quote you unless you are posting something constructive.

    Can't wait to get mine.
I was an early adopter. Bought my S1 by April 4th, so got free battery grip, free battery, free 3-year extended warranty, and now free upgrade for $2500.

I have the S1 and plan to buy a second.
    Here’s my reasoning:
I preordered then purchased at full price the S1 body/24-105 “kit.” The overall build quality of the amazing body and lens, BASE (pre-July firmware) specs and overall still and video performance justified that price. Plus, I received $300 off lens full retail when purchased as kit. Add a free $87 battery and $347 grip (improves portrait ergos and triples shoot time) and you have an amazing deal ($734 savings so far.) Add free warranty extension for two additional years and — wow! Add $199 film maker firmware update for FREE and I’m effing GRATEFUL! Add a second body for $550-$850 off with trade in and bonus (total) AND free film maker firmware AND 3 year warranty AND...
Total discount (not including value of 2 3-year warranties) when compared to buying all items separately:
    2 S1 bodies, 2 firmware upgrades, 1 24-105 f/4, 1 extra camera battery, 1 S1 battery grip.
Retail total $7123. My total $5044!
And, we can expect 1600MB/s CFExpress compatibility at 1tb capacity.
And I have in hand passive legacy glass adapters for Nikon G, Nikon F and Minolta MD.
And Sigma native primes are coming.
And Kipon makes a Mamiya MF focal reducer.
Nothing YET from Metabones, but just imagine what they’ll offer based on prior offerings...
    I could go on.
Seriously. How can everyone not be buying S1s?

With all the rage of full-frame video on the high-end (C700, Venice, Alexa Mini LF, Monstro, etc), pretty crazy there is a $4k full-frame camera that shoots 6K and does it in what will at least be a 10-bit codec (probably). No, it may not be what everyone wants, but it is quite the accomplishment.
I really do think there are a couple of big features not announced today - probably just in case the A7sIII is announced in the next 3-4 months, Panasonic can come back and say "well, we've got that too!" - the flippy screen is a great example of something they didn't announce and yet, there it is...

What part of $2500 for a full frame 10bit V-LOG shooting camera isn't a bargain? The $2000 or the $500? Oh and it is also a kick ass stills camera with best EVF on the market and Super 35mm 4K 60p like an X-T3, but still isn't a bargain?
An Alexa or RED doesn't have PDAF either! Manual focus for cinema is fine by me... My best lenses are MF. And when you need video AF, keep a cheap second body like an A6400 handy.
It is only the first year. Will get better in terms of native lenses. Until then, you can adapt only... everything.
Well, you will have to criticise everyone in that case because nobody is doing a $2500 full frame camera with global shutter, 4K 120p raw and built in ND... And if they did, it would be by RED and cost $50,000.
WTF? Cinema people shoot selfies now?

Why is the flip screen somehow never an issue for SONY A7 cameras? Or for the Nikon Z6 and Z7 for instance? I only seem to see that much moaning about the flipscreens on the S1/S1R.
Just read through the whole thread and you do nothing but bash the S1/S1R and the S1H, a camera none of us have seen yet. Do you have a vested interest in this somehow?

I am suddenly left wondering about a few things:
    1. Is it the Same sensor as the S1 (with a Larger body and a better processor) or do they really have a new sensor?
    2. If this Already Has VLog with 14 stops of dynamic  range, why is the VLog on the S1 coming in July??? Plus will that VLog (on the S1) also have 14 Stops of Dynamic Range?
    3. The S1H seems more geared for Full Frame Anamorphic(?) and 6k video.
So, are there enough improvements on the S1H to actually have a completely new camera for it, and could some of this not have been possible on the S1? Plus while rumprs claim that the larger body will help with better dissipation, I remember reading, somewhere, that overheating may shut down the camera temporarily(?)

I am guessing, the larger size may have more spaces for more ports and better storage among other things. Panasonic manages space rather well on its cameras, and they aren't larger without genuine purpose.

You've been very negative about it from the start, I feel. Just let them announce it and then react. Oh, and be realistic with your expectations. Panasonic, for better or worse, isn't going to be ditching CDAF anytime soon, and if they did I don't think they'd do it for just one camera in an entire lineup. And given the S1 and the S1R don't have flip out screens, it's unlikely that the S1H will. Is that a bummer? Yeah, but it's just the way things are.

Based on just what we know, if Sony released this exact same camera but as the A7sIII, people would be heaping praise on them.
    - first mirrorless to offer full frame 60p in 4k
    - 10 bit for 24-60p in 4K (first ever)
    - very very usable IBIS (unlike Sony’s)
    - Anamorphic shooting
    - and oh, btw, the first camera to shoot full frame 6k under $30k...
    - 14 stops dynamic range with Panasonic’s color science (which is way nicer than Sony).
Still hoping for internal NDs, but we’ll see what else they put in here. This thing is PACKED full of features.
