Potentially it would be to me if they include internal 10-bit and c-log.  I’m not a fan of the megapixel race either, although I have started pulling stills from video and that’s where I can see having 6k might be nice (although 10-bit 4K stills from my EOS R look really great for web delivery).  Hell, I’d take an HD Alexa sensor in a mirrorless body

Depending on what happens in the next month, the price point in the UK will either be around £3.5K or two tins of soup, 20 sheets of toilet paper and two squirts of hand sanitiser.
Plus VAT in both cases obviously.

Seriously, ha ha.  Even the tone of their press release seemed so “mavericky” and un-Canon like ha ha.
Wondering about price point.  With the language about “every photographer – not just professionals” seems they’ve gone out of their way to say this will be much more affordable than the 1Dx Mark iii.

I'm not sure of what is the more ominous indicator of an impending end of days apocalypse, the COVID-19 virus or Canon releasing a camera with such a no holds barred spec.

How about a smaller and cheaper C100 like camera (c1000?) with EF-M mount 😎

Being an iPhone owner I totally missed this:
This is great and I hope Apple follows suit in opening up their API.  For all the advancements in mobile phone imaging, I feel like the baked in sharpening artifacts are the one of the weakest areas of mobile video now that DR and low light are starting to improve.
This seriously makes me want to get an Android just for video.

OnePlus 7T or the newer Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro I'd rather buy not only because DxOMARK has rated it as the best smartphone camera system ever released. It won't break your bank account either as seems Samsung and Apple counterparts intend to in every single yearly launch.

How long before we get 8K RAW on a smartphone?
Here is 7.2K RAW on the Mate 30 Pro (still DNG of course)
Sensor quality gap is narrowing to enthusiast interchangeable lens cam
Although something is wrong with how Adobe Camera Raw interprets colour

    Subtly brilliant.
Seems to work with my Mate 30 Pro.
The file that comes out of it is quite incredible really. Definitely cinematic.

The problem is not really the Android version, but how much of the Camera 2 API the manufacturer exposes.

Just bought a Galaxy S9, and 4k60 is not available because of Samsung's implementation of the API. They found a way to circunvent it in the Exynos versions, but in the Snapdragon ones (like mine) is not possible. Every manufacturer have some kind of issues in its implementation.

Better look at the Filmic's Pro blog, and in forums about Filmic Pro to know how it works with each phone. Or, if you live in a country that have return policies, get the phone and try.

Yep, my Oneplus 6 blows away any iPhone when it comes to cinematic looking video.
It's quite insane what the ability to turn off sharpening entirely can do.

It's real : ) Look for Camera2 API instead to begin with, rather than anything else : -)

Z cam uses ASIC and implemented h264, h265, prores, and raw all on the same camera. Canon has way more resources and I assume could also develop a prores asic.

They had planned it from the start. In fact, some users found out how to unlock it right away, way before it was licensed.

Wow, it may sound sad but I’m excited about this. ? 24p was one of the main reasons I got an R over an RP (besides c-log). I might pick up an RP as a b-cam now. I didn’t see the new M6 mark ii mentioned but hoping it’s included.

Well, It seems Canon listened to their customers.
Many videographers felt angry that Canon did not deliver 24p video capture mode (23.98 fps) on recent cameras.
The first Canon cameras to get 24p video mode through a firmware update in October will be the Canon EOS 90D and EOS RP. The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III and PowerShot G5 X Mark II will follow in December, and the EOS M6 Mark II sometime at the beginning of 2020.
    Canon press release:
Canon confirm a firmware update to include 24p mode for video recording in recently launched EOS and PowerShot models
London, England – Wednesday 9th October 2019 – In response to customer feedback about the recently launched EOS and PowerShot models, Canon Europe will introduce 24p (23.98fps) mode for video recording, via a series of future firmware updates for select models. Once downloaded, the free firmware updates will enable users to shoot 24p (23.98fps) in Full HD and 4K resolutions for the select models.
The first Canon models to benefit from the new 24p (23.98fps) firmware will be the recently launched EOS 90D and EOS RP in late October. The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III and G5 X Mark II will follow by the end of December and the EOS M6 Mark II update will be available during 2020.
This announcement comes after the recent availability of the new firmware version 1.3 for EOS RP and 1.4 for EOS R which further enhances the eye and subject detection AF performance of both mirrorless cameras. Canon is committed to providing a diverse and full line-up of products to cater for all capabilities and interests by listening to our customers feedback and providing enhancements accordingly.

Nope, they raised enough money to pay the codec consortium, aka the Illuminati, the 24 cents for 24p.
I don’t think he was being pro-Canon here... it’s like the folks that say, Canon isn’t withholding features, that wouldn’t make any sense... they just don’t have the tech to do it.
