i'm going to play devils advocate momentarily, they may demand 4k but what do they deliver ? I live a long way from any broadband connection so my viewpoint is extremely biased, however you try pushing 4k down through the internet to everyone, that sucker is simply going to melt. i notice tv stations are falling over themselves to present us with hd content let alone 4k, where i am 38 channels of  576i compared to ( lets be optimistic and ) say 4 channels of hd  hmm thats like an excellent ratio dont you think ?
Australia at least, is a long way behind the eight ball where hd and 4k are concerned. How other countries have it sorted i have no idea. It maybe true you can easily buy a 4k tv but getting or steaming content to play on that beastie is another issue all together i feel. Unless you live in a city 500 meters from a broadband hub, lucky you. What sort of data plan would you require for 4k or 6k anyway ? HD can chew through the gigabytes, 4k or 6k will be epic and next level, and require superconductors and still probably melt both polar icecaps, but they were melting already so its no big deal.
There is 29,614 people on this forum, 6 billion on this planet and counting. Where video is concerned, i think that makes us a bunch of elitists. Notice i include myself in this description as well. If you can afford 4k, 6k, 8k cameras and everything that equipment entails i say awesome. If you can send receive or stream all that then your doubly awesome and must be living in utopia. Planetary wide, i'd say hd is probably a drop of water in the bucket. Personally i love my tech when i can afford it and playing with it. If you get paid to play with video and can claim it on your tax thats also awesome. But if i think on it really deeply then there is a bunch of people out there that would say my 4k pictures taste like shit and a can of baked beans would taste better and they would be right.

Yeah, I agree that no camera can be future proof. But, some cameras do stand the test of time at least for a 5-10 year period. Red, c100s and co.
Within the last 5-7 years, we can agree that the following are now dead in the water. Ursa , UM4k UM4.6K, Micro.
Personally, I like the pocket 4k. That was the camera I always wanted the first BMCC to be and with a few firmware upgrades there is soo much potential for improvement rather than a new system in such a short space of time.
I use a viltrox speed reducer and the Tamron 24-70 2.8 with my pocket 4k. No rigs, just body and battery and it's so convenient

    This is dope.
However, I think this is way too soon and I worry that they could make the 4k obsolete  very soon. Even though I haven't owned it longer than 7 months. Is this the pattern they are rolling with. They are knocking cameras out way too soon for my liking. Bare in mind the 4k was suppose to be future proof.
Anyhoo looking at the image I cant really see a significant improvement. I have fallen in love with the 4K and I think it's a gem as long as you shoot within it's sweet spot.
Personally this is meh. I can't see the appeal for an upgrade but having an EF MOUNT is very ideal .

Don't flush money down the toilet because of a couple of turds. Always buy used.
Used A7 in store with six months warranty surfaces for sub $300 here at least once a month.

I always ETTR on the BMCC/BMPCC but not on the new BMPCC4K. I used the native ISOs and tried to get as close to the final exposure as I could in camera. With the new color science it's been a winning concept for me.
I still have never been able to create any type of "blue sky macro blocking", and I've owned two separate units.

You’ll always get the best image shooting at the native iso with BM cameras... CDNG, Braw, or ProRes.

What's reasonably priced for you? ?
I use the Sirui T-005 that @Mattias Burling turned me on to years and years ago when he also sold me on the original Pocket. It's nice and compact, and I think was in the $150 range. It's well made, all aluminum, and I usually carry it on the side of my backpack when traveling.
Looks like it has gone down in price! Sirui T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10S Ball Head, 8.8 lbs Capacity, 58" Height, 5 Leg Sections, Red https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01FG7X8TQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qp6lDbNB5FQ46
$90 is a real good deal! Basically the same price as the Amazon brand one.

I haven't really posted in this group much for awhile, but the launch film I created for the Mavo LF just dropped today. (It was playing at the Kinefinity booths at NAB&CineGear but it finally came online today). Article I wrote on NoFilmSchool but the film's more important - took me about a year, ha. I've always wanted to create something vaguely sci-fi. Happy to answer any technical questions, too. Cheers.

If you watch enough hours of walking gimbal shots then you'll end up learning by DJI Osmosis.

Something In between the UM4.6K  and the Production 4k. This is what the UM4Ki image should have been like . Personally, I like it. This image ticks both boxes, Doc look, Film look and its more versatile

Dunjoye reacted to Castorp in Happy halloween - Europe to introduce Article 13 - Making filming and photography in public illegal
I’m sorry Andrew, but the tone in your post is aggressive and reads like something I’d expect from the Sun or the Daily Mail. I spent many years living in the UK and am heartbroken about Brexit.
And yet I am not surprised, your post displays exactly why Brexit happened. Just as so many others in the UK you’re using the EU to project your frustration rather than aim that anger at the politicians that have ravaged your country over the last three decades. The UK has the largest income differences in Europe and the poverty and decay is astounding. Somehow British politicians and media have managed to make the EU a villain rather than get their own shit together.
The UK is without a doubt the European country I’ve lived in (4 so far) where it’s the most difficult to photograph in public. By far.
Perhaps you could try and excercise a bit of trust rather than spew vitriol against the EU? You really think it’s that bad? Last I looked the EU is a very successful peace project that safeguards a continent ravaged by brutal wars for centuries.
So f-n tired of British people whining about bloody banana regulations or the EU interfering with winter savings time or whatever.
You should put some sources, links and context for your post. Then, perhaps it will have some semblance of credibility.
So many posts in this thread are nothing but depressing. Welcome to the outrage factory!
    Quality.
