What do you know about what I know or don't know? C'mon... No rocket science here, literally... LOL ; ) it's just to read the news.
Politically motivated? It's completely nonsense what you're just writing. No, there's no political motivation at all from my part.
I only find all this story an absolute misfortune. Painful to see. That's all.
First off if you haven't noticed yet, I am one of the oldest members here. This is one of my fav places I choose to discuss daily life with other fellows in this Andrew's home. People trade messages on private, there are connections beyond the curtains and so on, you know? This is merely our public window.
On the other hand, the guy wanted to photograph the earth to prove his idea. This has everything about the main scope of this forum, no more no less.
As fair conclusion though, pictures are not only made of gear and talking around for geeks. The way news, marketing, media exposure, innovation are made and are mirror of our time, even the society itself or what it is political motivation realm, once you mention it, make them... Our contemporary counterpart.
It is impossible to dissociate the pictures or how we living them from there. Count on it ; -)

Unfortunately the average buyer is so utterly clueless when it comes to lens mounts.

So many times I've heard people say "I only brought this because it is an EF Mount, I'd never have bought it if it was MFT" when referring to the BMPCC6K (or other cameras too, like an URSA Mini, Z Cam S6, or a Panasonic EVA1).

I mean come on, seriously???  You can't name even one good reason for EF on those cameras over using a locking MFT mount.

You're certainly not buying a BMPCC6K for its great AF with EF lenses! haha

And a locking MFT would give the maximum flexibility and benefits. You could slap on a S16 zoom for those days you need massive zoom range all in just one lens. You could put on a focal reducer for Vista Vision Field of View and an extra stop of light. You could put on adapters for lenses that can't even be put on EF, such as FD lenses. Or even lenses that you could put on EF with an adapter, such as Nikon F Mount, you could have a much more solid connection (would basically feel like a "native F Mount") using a locking MFT mount than using the usual EF mount.

Unfortunately I suspect these companies are intentionally choosing EF Mount because they know they'll likely sell more to the idiotic buyers by having an EF Mount, in spite of all the technical reasons for choosing a locking MFT mount (which perhaps even BMD are unaware?? Wouldn't surprise me, I've sadly season folks like J.B. who beta tests for BMD being a strong advocate against MFT, ditto other companies like Panasonic where Mitch Gross argued very strongly against MFT for EVA1. Which is extra madness, as Panasonic ought to be supporting their own MFT mount and GH series of cameras!!).
But if only they could at least have offered us the choice! Like BMD did back at the start with BMCC EF vs BMCC MFT.  Or ship out all cameras with an EF adapter to appease the fears and worries of Canon diehards (kinda a bit like Sony did with the VENICE and all of the F3/F5/F55 cameras, so many of those users don't even realize there is another mount underneath!!).

I think Resolve is the future.  The fact is that Resolve 16 is finally stable enough for pro users.  I know people have been using it professionally for years, but having used all the versions starting with 12, it is finally ready for prime time, both feature wise and stability wise.  It will become the industry standard in the next to 2 years, so learning it now will put you ahead of the game.

That is a reallly bad solution, only 7.4v. Extended use will probably destroy the camera. My solution above stays above 14.5 V all the time.

Indeed, charging time is almost 2x faster than useful time with the p4k.
from the website specs : Recharges in around 2.5-3.0 hours full charge via the BatPower Adapter, 8-12 hours full charge from a 5V Micro USB adapter/charger.
I only charged it 3x for now, but it does indicate 4/4 leds charge after only 2h. It would seem that the last 1h is to get the last few drops in ... The charger that comes with it is 68W.
The 148Wh model can be taken on-flight, but not without clearance from the airline company. Maybe you could check, as it has (seemingly !) the same dimensions (maybe you should check that one too ...)

The Muxtronics man answered : there were still a few little problems, and he has zero time to finish the development.
In the meantime I got this BatPower EX7D 98Wh.
It fits the smallrig powerbank holder on my smallrig cage. Great. The EX7D is about 18cmx2.3cmx8.4 - so is slightly larger than the website & manual state. If the size of the next model is correct, you can get 148 Wh in exactly the same case !
My first tests (after what I think was a full load, but not completely sure about this):
BMCCP4K with an old 4/3 lens with OIS enabled / p4k lcd at 60% / recording to T5 drive :
    genuine Canon LP-e6n 1865 mAh battery : 44 min
BatPower EX7D 98Wh : 270 min (with the Canon battery fully charged in the camera)
Retested the Canon LP-e6n, this time OIS disabled / p4k lcd at 30% / recording internally to SD card : 55 min
In theory this would result in 337 min on the BatPower EX7D 98Wh - need to rerun a very long test to confirm this !
Bonus : the powerbank outputs an almost steady 15V. There is also a 20V mode, but that does not seem to work on the p4k (need to test if this is maybe defective ?). When the capacity goes to 0, it switches off. Transition to the internal battery is flawless and recording continues ! This gives at least an extra 44 min to the 270. Or 55 + 337.
In theory, with the 148 Wh version, this results in 7-9h of actual recording time. I think the 98 Wh is enough to get through a full day of (30%?) shooting. You can also charge the powerbank while it is powering the camera ...
The only downside for me is that I expected a slightly smaller enclosure, but it fits the Smallrig holder perfectly. I either mount it on top, or I can hang it under the camera, which is much more stable handheld, but needs some time to put on a tripod.
edit: i was shooting max 4k dci, braw 12:1

Believe me, I'm well aware that there's a strategy to manipulate the media, but can we agree that any and all assertions from the POTUS are rarely "little stuff"?
You know, I've heard that "not a big deal" "just a joke" argument as well.  My reply is that lies matter, regardless. I'll always think it's demonstrably detrimental to the nation.  Personal emotional truths are valued over factual evidence, and that doesn't lead to good places in a society that needs to be secular and inclusive to all its citizens.
Now, you may disagree with that fundamental assertion of what the USA should be regarding evidential facts, and think my rationality is wrong from the start.  One of my friends in particular has realized we're somewhat at odds with this attitude, given his religious devotion, so we know our perspectives --we've learned to cope as best we can.
Nevertheless, hewing to some sort of ideals and reality is a thing that is important, especially in a person unable to hold onto evidential facts being the POTUS.  Petty lies matter or nothing does.  I'd also say, the whole "not a big deal, you shouldn't be so angry" shtick is an argumentative retreat I've hashed out with my friends too.  It's a dismissal and avoidance of criticism; ultimately a sort of "shoot the messenger."
Maybe tolerating criticism is just something that's not as easily shared if you're a right-leaning personality?  It often seems that way in my experience. I mean, we had some fun arguments when Obama was POTUS, but I personally really never cared too much about allowing such criticisms.  To be fair, I also hang with some hard-core liberals that are annoyingly intolerable with their skewed attitudes about stuff.  Like nails on a chalkboard.
So, yeah, the "angry" thing as a broad brush?  Not sure about that nor the fairness of the attitude.  Never mind that I'm...as my mom would often say... not angry (with my country or POTUS) I'm disappointed.
So, here's a good example of what I wrote.  The plain and simple fact is that the plant was initiated under the previous administration.  By your reasoning, Barrak Obama should be the one to take the credit. (and to be clear, I don't really believe the POTUS should take economic credit for everything)  Yet, DT did.
His assertion is a lie, the extrapolation you've drawn from it is questionable ("some companies have changed direction" would like to see your notated examples on that, as I'm aware of companies that are doing more of the same they'd be doing otherwise, but now with stock buy backs, which can be easily argued that hurt the economy overall), but here you are offering him praise rather than skepticism.  Like I'm saying, either the facts matter or nothing does.
It's how DT can get away with "No Quid Pro Quo!" with his supporters even though that assertion is in direct conflict by openly admitted fact from those that run his administration.
This is what manipulation and propaganda looks like and it's not a small thing.

Yannick Willox reacted to newfoundmass in Introducing the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT for that washed out nationalist propaganda look
I don't like to use that kind of rhetoric because it dumbs down discourse and makes it impossible to have intelligent discussion. But it's extremely frustrating that information is so readily available and yet we have people taking politicians at their word. If you're not skeptical of everything that comes out of a politician's mouth, including ones that are on "your side," then I really don't know what to say.
Words still have meaning to some of us, and things like "alternative facts" don't really exist. The truth is apolitical, no matter how much people try to spin it and muddy the waters.
If someone can't admit, or accept, that the President is intentionally misleading people on this subject I'm really not sure what to say and worry that they are a lost cause because they are beyond caring about the truth at this point. It's hard to come back from that.

You seem like a very nice, innocent person, Emanuel! I mean that as a compliment.
Here in America, things are very nasty.  People are nasty.  Brutish.
We are having a major class war.
Many of us have a different view on billionares and job innovators. We distrust silicon valley.  We distrust pharmacuticals.  We distrust heads of energy companies and goverment leaders. We distrust the mainstream media.  We distrust until we are proven right.

We trust whistleblowers.  We trust contrarians and outcasts and outsiders and artists and musicians and intellectuals and writers.  We distrust the "great" figures of our past history.
It's a crazy time to be alive.  That the majority is like me.  That we live in a topsy-turvy world.
I do wish sometimes I could be like you, where I have trust in deeper trust, unbonding love for billionaires and leaders.   But for me, that's over.  This is the era of #metoo and subversion and anger at the leadership class.
    The world is dying.
    The planet is dying.
Due to billionares not using their money to do the right thing.  People like the Koch brothers who use it to destroy the planet.
    This time is now.
    BYE!

Just for information, some quick tests. The L-ES014050 is the old 4/3 PanaLeica kit lens for the Lumix L1. The other lens is the new PanaLeica 12-60 mm. To compare it was around 15mm, not exactly the same field of view, but difficult to judge, as the distortion is already way higher. At 12mm it goes crazy, still useable for wide shots if you don't have anything straight near the edges.
Now I have read that the Oly 12-100 has even more severe distortion then the PanaLeica 12-60 ?
Does anyone know how we can use something like a lens profile in Adobe Raw (Adobe Raw does not have them for Panasonic lenses, as they are corrected in-camera) ?

Well if you have plenty of mics, make shure you bring a spare or two. Also, keeping the mic in the case with plenty of silica gel can help.
Interestingly, an MKH50 costs 1 438 dollar in Germany, excl. 21% vat (against 1200 dollar in the US). There are none on the second hand market.
You should buy a MKH50 for each project, and then sell it in the EU ?

i have MKH20/30/40/80/800/800 twins, I know what I am talking about. The mkh series has been designed to have trouble free operation in humid conditions. Just decide how much trouble the extra cost is if your 500 dollar mic starts acting out.
