gt3rs got a reaction from SRV1981 in Re: Print a Photo from Video (4k 60)?
Search my posts in the forum, I take a lot of pictures out of videos mostly out of 8k RAW and sometimes out of 4k 120fps….
Depending on the priority I set the shutter speed accordingly. video first then is 180 rule or up to 1/500, photo first I even set it to 1/3000… It depends a lot on the sports and if you are panning/following or fix position. Fix position 180 rule almost never work not even at 120fp 1/250, panning works in many more situation also as low as 1/50.
Sports people are so used to gopro videos and co that they mostly don’t notice if you shoot a video at 1/500….

    Caution:
    - Please use an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card that is 512MB or greater to perform the firmware update.
    - Firmware version 1.0.4.1 is for updating EOS R5 C cameras running firmware version 1.0.0.1 - 1.0.3.1. If your camera's firmware is already version 1.0.4.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Once the camera is updated to the latest version, it cannot be restored to a previous version.
    - Please refrain from loading menu settings generated using the most recent firmware version to a product running an old firmware version, as doing so may affect camera operations.
    - Firmware update must be performed in VIDEO mode.

    Preparations for a firmware update:
    - After the firmware update has been performed, the camera's menu settings will be reset. It is recommended that, prior to starting update operations, users save their menu settings as settings data to an SD card, separate from the one that will be used to carry out the update. This saved data can be loaded into the camera and the settings can be changed after the update has been completed. For further information on this, please refer to the section in the unit's Instruction Manual titled "Saving and Loading Camera Settings."
    - The downloaded folder contains the firmware (file name: VSD8.FIM / file size: 90,203,000 byte), and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese). Prior to starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review and confirm your understanding of these instructions.

Regarding the Software Included in this Firmware:
The software included in this firmware is comprised of software modules developed by both Canon and third parties.

Display of License Information of Free Software Modules Included in this Firmware:
The license information required to be displayed for the free software modules included with this firmware is saved in the download file. To check the free software module licenses, please refer to the "EOS R5C OSS info.pdf".

The following items are required to perform this firmware update:
    1. Camera Body EOS R5 C
    2. A computer (OS requirements: macOS 13, macOS 12, macOS 11, 10.15 - 10.14)
    3. SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card with a capacity of 512MB or more (commercially available)
    4. An SD card reader/writer (commercially available) or an SD card slot built into the computer
    5. A fully charged battery pack for the camera, or a dedicated AC adapter kit (optional)
    6. The firmware (the downloaded file)

I did try PS Generative Fill on around 10 pictures that I wanted to remove stuff since a long time but it was just too much work and is crazy good especially if you just want to remove objects. It will just get better and better and will be applied to video too. Saving tons of tons of hours of work but also will make people loose their job.

Also being able to use a prompt will also speed up things tremendously like "replace the pink t-shirt with a white shirt"...

Canon R6 II has micro hdmi.😂 Didn´t know that. If PDAF is mandatory and if happy with Open Gate 6K, Full Frame 4K 24-30p and S35 4K 50/60p, one might just as well buy a Lumix S5 used for 800 EUR. 🙂

Seems a really good camera, probably the best hybrid at the moment.

It makes A1, Z9 and R3 look overpriced compared to this. Really good that Nikon is aggressive with the price/features pushing Canon and Sony.

Only odd thing that apparently it cannot record video on both cards...and personally I don't like the screen as is a pita on gimbals...

    Outlawed? Good luck with regulation!
A more likely solution would be a combination of a few things:
Platform verification and monitoring (Twitter does a good job) NFTs to secure authorship Education. Younger generations grow up w/ digital tech and are much more perceptive and discriminating. The gullible boomers are on the wrong side of disruptive technologies, but this too shall pass Anyways, there's also a creative and productive element. Why can't a creator choose to express in a different voice?

Actually for gimbal use is a pita as it works only through USB so you cannot connect the gimbal to the camera, plus you have a cable from the gimbal grip to the camera that is not a good idea. Would have been Wifi or Bluetooth it would have been brilliant....

    R8 has the hybrid hotshoe.
    Expensive RF lens like the RF 100-400, 600 11, 800 11, 24-105 7.1, 24-240, 16, 24, 35, 50, 85 STM, 24-50, 15-30….
    I don’t think people buying an entry level R body will buy 28-70 2.0 or 50 1.2
Yes canon should have included IBIS, a bigger battery, a bigger body and call it R6 II….. boy it cost 1000$ (40%) less it cannot be the same.
The Sony a7c cost 300$ more has no dual card neither, max 10fps vs 40, 4k 30 max and with a 1.2 crop at 30, 8bit only, half the res touch screen…. people should get real…

IBIS beyond 100mm is not very effective (still works). And, of course, you lose information and resolution (crop) with Catalyst. No OSS is a real issue. Not saying it is a dealbreaker.

Oh man, these are pretty much all the FW updates I had hoped for!
"Improvements to the EOS R5 C include support for the EF-EOS R 0.71x Mount Adapter, faster switching time between photo and video modes, a power saving mode, 2x magnification during 8K MP4 recording and a digital-teleconverter option, maximizing flexibility by providing a quick way to increase the telephoto capability of the lens used."

Why would you "buy" an APS-C lens for A7IV? If you already own it maybe for video, but buying it make no sense to me, for photo is meh as you loose a lot of res and for video is questionable.

Buy a good FF used lens, you will resell it with no too much loss if you want to change.

I mostly buy used lens and if you find a good priced one you may end up selling for almost the same price that you brought.

Regarding IBIS I can confirm that with long lenses > 100mm (70-200, 100-500) the R5 sometimes jumps (kind of reset itself to the middle) and it is something that the R5c does not do.

I was filming in Alaska and the first day I opted for the R5 instead of the R5c due to the power consumption, in that environment I would not use and external battery, cables etc.. But I got a few shots ruined by IBIS so for day 2 I switched to the R5c and 6 batteries 😲 .

Is definitely a special use case mine where I do film a lot handheld at 300-500mm....

Nevertheless a firmware update that improves the standby power is long due.

Z9 is better priced and more competitive than the A1 for video.
