Understand that you do not have a Ninja V available. So yes, I would try to use ISO 800 like Sigma intended. For the scenario you described, easily and ugly highlight clipping, they will recommend using ISO 800. Internal false color screen should help on setting exposure correctly.
Have attached the additional fp manual from the developer, which tells you what ISO to use and when, including the chart.
Keep in mind this is only true when you are using the in camera options including record to an external SSD. When recording ProRes RAW or most likely as well BRAW with an external recorder, you have to choose the approach which I have posted earlier to get the best quality.
    Hope that helps 🙂

I did indeed manage to pick one up from Camarthan Cameras in Wales! Only retailer in entire UK to have a couple of units. Glad I did though as the camera is a miracle in itself. Punches well above expectations.
I am only scratching the surface compared to you Simon, but will get to know it better in coming days. Brought it to Berlin with me. Not even shot any C4K with it yet but in UHD I did play with it a bit and love that you can punch in 1.4x in the middle of a shot with little to no loss in detail. No need to stop recording, you can just punch in and out on the fly.
The IBIS was out of this world brilliant. 1 second handheld photo PIN SHARP
The menus and ergonomics are in top 1% of all cameras. Love the way it feels to use and that they didn't go crazy abandoning the small size advantage with fans and stuff.
I have GH6 with me as well so will be interesting to compare the two. They are very different. GH6 has the edge for high frame rates and overall video specs. OM-1 has a significant advantage in terms of size, weight, ergonomics, stills features and a few unique abilities in video mode as well. The EVF on the OM-1 is superior to the GH6. Out of this world big and immersive, especially impressive for such a small body.
Can confirm the lovely Olympus colours are still present and correct!

The problem with the L mount alliance (aside from the clearly reluctant Leica not fully playing ball over compatibility of adapters) is that Sigma have created a really comprehensive set of high quality affordable lenses for it and not put OIS on any of them, aside from the long telephoto.
Its annoying as I have Leica full frame and APS-C cameras that could really have benefited from it but the most obvious beneficiary would have been my FP.
Thats what makes it bewildering really as Sigma would have took away a big objection about their own camera had they put OIS in any if these lenses.
As the junior partner, I suspect they might have been blocked by the other two.

Yeah it seems pointless to use BM colorspace and ruin the great color the sigma has.

In Resolve you can start to decode to P3-D60 and Linear in the RAW tab then do a "Color Space Transform" from the effects tab.  Transform to your timeline space, like REC709 Gamma 2.4 then check the box "use custom max input" under "Tone Mapping" and set it above your screen brightness like 250, 500, 1000.  You should see your highlights snap back and roll off nicely if they were available.  I wouldn't underexpose to try and get them if you are at ISO 800 because the shadows can block up.
I usually do Noise Reduction in the first node, then CST in the 2nd node, then color and contrast correction in the 3rd with the lift gamma gain tools.
I attached two screen shots of the decode and CST.

Been playing around with the Canon EOS M and Magic Lantern RAW over the past few weeks, mainly testing Anamorphic Adapters and Lens combos. Prepped and shot this short film in a few of hours as a test run. Color grading under a Rec709 Conversion (BMD Rec709 LUTs Available Here: https://blackmagic-luts.yolasite.com/)
Personally, really enjoying this little camera. Shame the YouTube compression is so heavy.
    What do you think?

I have exactly the setup you're talking about, and absolutely love it. It's so light weight and the footage is fantastic. I will say though, monitor on for external raw is well worth doing. Braw works pretty well in Premiere now, and you have the added benefit of changing the angle of the screen. I have my monitor mounted on the back, so to the person being filmed, it doesn't look much bigger or more intimidating than the actual camera without the monitor. Here's a couple images with a 28mm FD lens (also a very nice combo)

I've only shot 24p with mine so the crop hasn't been an issue. Besides frame rates, you can also choose a crop to get better readout speeds to improve rolling shutter but that wasn't a concern with the short that I did.
All the video that I've shot has been in raw and All-I and I love the IQ. The only thing I miss from my previous Sony is the AF.
On the photography side, I also love it for wandering around shooting landscapes, etc. But it wouldn't be a good choice for a portrait or wedding shooter.

In the absence of a single thread about the FP, I'll post this here.
There is some new content here that I haven't heard before, including references to tests that the FP has more accurate colour than the Sony Venice.  For people interested in very high quality images (and uncompressed RAW) this might be of interest.
Much more life in this camera yet I think.

The Batman was aesthetically bold and brave for a blockbuster. It looked like the most expensive art house film ever made.
I loved the blurry murkiness of it all and the interesting characterful feel of the image. It added to the overall story greatly. It almost always looked out of focus and I didn’t care.
Great to see that modified Soviet lenses were used here and there (Iron Glass Adapters). It’s a refreshing change from all the other clinical perfect Marvel movies firing out of Disney’s ovaries.
Also thought the slow pace, and Robert’s very awkward and similarly slow, clunky movement made the character feel grippingly tortured, and often, weird.
I liked they left out a lot of sweeping aerial establishing shots and setup most locations as if you’re looking through a rain soaked window.
The score was also haunting and moved things along eerily in synchronisation with Robert’s weighted posture.
Overall, very impressed. Unforgettable cinematography. Great all round.
Relatable to this, I’ve been dropping all my clinical boring Sony lenses and making life hard with Lensbaby’s and heavily modified Russian glass. 😂

I have a proart PA248QV. It is also a lower cost type of this series, 24 inch. It comes "calibrated" out of the factory. Side-by-side to my much more expensive Dell 24", which has been calibrated with a Spider, it looks better/more accurate.
Getting into the hassle of recalibrating, more expenses for a (used?) calibration device etc. is only worth it if you are in a VERY controlled environment, with a fixed lighting setting.
I think for REC709 these kind of displays should be quite reliable - although certainly not reference grade ... Benq has a very interesting photo/video series, which can switch between photographic and video modes easily, but at 4x the cost (which is still quite cheap).
The Asus proart series easily goes to 5K euro, but I think there is not 1 model able to do 24p (natively). If you need that, you need to look at the Benq video series.

Well like a friend of mine says that owns a used car lot "There is an ass for every seat" and this Canon FD craze is no doubt one of those. Canon sure has fooled one hell of a lot of people with their photo products. Hardly the second coming of Jesus Christ. Other than a few lens examples, ergo super fast lenses that no one could afford even new, I can think of lots of equal or better lens brands out there over the years for a heck of a lot less money. Although any really good lens is not cheap. I think Olympus put Canon to shame lens wise back in the day, Leica like quality and size.
