  1. Awesome! Lens love!:) If you perfer manual legacy lenses, you should give the tokina 24 40 f2.8 a try, in Nikon mount plus EF- Nikon adapter. Beautiful lens with awesome mechanics and the exact right look for APSC sensor size. Or you enjoy the great AF with an 18 to 50 f2.8 Sigma or Tamron or Canon.

    cheers

    Hello everybody!

This forum has been a place of great discussions. Learned so much.

The most fun has always been to discover about obscurities and oddities, fi.

regarding lenses like the 28 85 f4 Tokina flare monster. Or the secrets of

getting 60p on European Lumix cams or the odyssey of a young filmmaking kid Zak

with an obscure lens for his beloved Canon Ti. So much passion and possibilities

of discovering things. All the great fun stuff beyond the ordinary 3 light setup for video interviews!

I would love to see more of that from all of you great contributors!

Thanks so much for everything and please keep the tasty tips n tricks n awesome ideas rollin!

Hope Zak is doing great and chimming back in some day, if he likes to do so!

    cheers, Marty

  3. Since 1080p mode on GH5 has supposely true! HD resolution, please 10 bit up to 120fps.

Also, lossless digital zoom in 1080p resolution up to 1:1 HD sensor crop, not necessarily stepless but maybe in 3 or four or five steps.

That in 10 bit as well. Also 4/3 mode with full sensor readout and sofore without crop to the sides.

    Please 2K 10 bit mode.

Prores for 1080 and maybe cinema 2K footage!

Shot this with the Sony a6000 and Canon FD 24mm 2.8 (at f/4). I don't even have my FD-E mount adapter, so I just attached it to my MFT adapter and held it against the camera body. I love this combination so far.

Hey Matt! Lookin good! Is the FD 24mm as good wide open as the 28mm 2.8? I would assume so. A6000 looks like a nice little HD cam for the

cheap FF look with a focal reducer. Does the A6000 offer the 50mbit codec after a firmware update?

Cam wise, I used my Sony A7SII, GFILM colour profile, Canon 24-105 and an old Zeiss Jena 35mm that I absolutely love. No rigs, no stabiliser.

Hey Greg! You make that gfilm colour sing, you make that Sony color sing! Maybe the best Sony color I´ve seen on the interwebs,

very beautiful color in its own right! Absolutely! Please share more of your stuff!

    cheers

  6. Hallo Fuzzy,

well, I only watched Watchtower of Turkey and I found the visual rush very impressive but also very easy to forget about.

It´s like a luxury all you can eat dinner, too much of everything and too little of anything. If that makes sense :)

The other one I havent watched. For watchtower: picture quality and workflow with the GH3 is impressive. Still, i dig your little

vignettes and videos more, just more my kind of material.

Yea... who'd want a forum member that occasionally disagrees with it's owner... In this instance, with a slight tongue in cheek remark.

I think i'll take your advice... Never been a big fan of dictators.

Hey Jimmy, would be cool if you stay!!! Just get off of Andrews cloud and rather get on mine, I dig your opinions :)  And, please Andrew, don´t get angry, you

know we admire your work and style and we want you to enjoy your own forum you are providing for all of us.

Casey Neistats GH5 footage looks great. I must say, some of the best DSLM colors I´ve seen, honest ones without grading I mean! Awesome colors!

Anybody got the hope to get to know Caseys color profile setting? :)

  8. Hallo Seb,

you could also try to set the IBIS to much smaller numbers. With a focal reducer f.i. for a 24mm I would have to choose 24mm x 0.71 eq. around 16mm.

So with you anamorphic setup of 35mm and 1.75 one could try 35mm x 0.58 eq about 20mm.

    cheers

Hey, i´d suggest a GX85 for family footage. It is a joy to hold in hand and has stabilization plus great image quality.

Family members will love to hold it and use it. Use the display like most people would anyway and you can use the

not so nice EVF for super challenging situations.

    CineV

Some nice images in here. V-log will tame those highlights a bit but can you still get that color pop.

Looking very nice! If this is pretty much ooc, this is even awesome color wise. It´s awesomely shot too! That monochrome part is really, really nice!

Was it Monochrome L like on Gx85 with its digital option of orange or yellow or red filter or tweaked in post?

    cheers

Well, I filmed this with Nikon D5200 and Nikon D5300. At that time, grading skills were just in the beginning stage. So not perfect, not Davinci Resolve and Full HD. But I completely doubt whether one could get such colours with GH5 or GX80 (which I own). Panasonic's image is boring, cold and synthetic when compared to Nikon or some others. Do you agree with me?

Hey Lakes, nice and very charming video! Pannys are very beautiful to grade and to get some nice color out of it.

Here is one of my videos I shot last summer with the G6. My GX80 is much easier to grade, very easy indeed to get beautiful color out of it.

I dont need that HDMI clamp since I dont have any monitor / recorder or whatsoever. I have put the latest Firmware on my body, which made the IBIS pretty much silent, at least I cant hear it in the recordings (which are crappy anyway, but thats a different story). Or do you mean sth else with "show in usage"?

Hey Jase, not worried about sound so much. Was wondering if firmware update gives IBIS better performance?

Still got 1.0 on my camera. Also wondering about Extele mode. It looks pretty blurry compared to my Lumix G6.

Also the top three options for extele in the menu are greyed out. I can only choose on and off. Is there

a way to get to choose from the greyed out area? I´m in 1080p mode of course.

    cheers

Thanks! Got myself a Smallrig cage as well as a top handle, improved the smoothness a lot.

Aaah, Jase! Beautiful setup! One of the prettiest, that camera, that cage, that lens! Oh, almost forgot the handle:)

Did you buy cage and handle in a set? Ebay or where from? I got myself a beautiful Tokina 24 40 2.8. It is

like a rig for my GX85, awesome to hold on to.

I have a question regarding stabilization. What is the best firmware version for IBIS? Does that version

    make a difference?

We've already seen this video, several times in different threads, OK? Hanriverprod is entitled to his opinion.

:) Bushman Films has been contributing enthusiasm and knowledge and kindness in his posts.

I always enjoyed them and his opinions and so I did with his post of the footage above.

Thats what this beautiful forum is about, enjoyment and exchange. By the way, love your Fuji videos, jonpais.

Please keep sharing your videos with us. Also, I hope Bushman Films keeps doing so as well.

Re-bought the Canon nFD 24mm 2.8 and 35-105mm 3.5 Zoom. I forgot how much I loved these lenses.

    Hallo Matt!

Still love my FD 28mm 2.8. Great, light and nice to touch and to focus. It is awesome on boosted m43, very nice wide open.

Maybe one of the best lenses smallest money can buy. Please keep on showing your regained love for these nice FD lenses

and keep us posted with your footage using these. Really interested to see some footage of the 35-105 from you.

Still shooting that beautiful BMPCC of yours?

Oh yeah, just bought my Tokina 24- 40mm 2.8:) Beautiful lens on m43 with focal reducer!

That Tokina lens seriously is one of my favorite lenses, but it is perfect on aps-c not as perfect on FF. I don't really have any 5D3 shots with that lens on my phone but I'll send you a link of that lens on my old NX500. I may have a couple shots of it on my D5500. I'll check.

I love Panasonic cameras but this was probably my favorite camera purchase. I just love that thick, Raw look. But I am still looking for a pocket camera, so I may end up buying an LX100 this summer. That little camera definitely has some mojo.

    Hey Merce!

That Tokina shines on aps-c and S35 size and boosted m43. Did a few tests at 24 f2.8, slight vignetting but still nice center sharpness, great

enough for beautiful filming. At 40mm a little tad darker across the frame than at 24. But across lengths still nice uniform look. So

it is my 3 primes in one, plus some extra at 40:) Love the build and its gestalt! Its very beautiful to look at.

Since you love yours on s35 size I´d suggest getting a G7 or GX80 again. Didnt like the manual focusing nor

the haptical feel of the LX100 lens, when I checked a few times in the stores. EVF is small too like GX80.

cheers and enjoy that beautiful 5diii as we will enjoy more of your videos coming! :)

  17.

Hey Charlie! Piece of cake! Go for Natural all -2 but color at 0. GX85 has beautiful colors to grade in that profile, so will GH5.

Hassle free starting point for nice color. Do manual WB or adjust Kelvin manually and you are set!

With stunning locations, even better! :)

    cheers

  18. You son of a gun of a GH5 thread. Shame on you, GH5! You broke that beautiful record of the GX85 thread for

the longest and most beautiful thread! Keep on rockin! :)

By the way, GX85 files are easy to grade to get awesome colors from. So GH5 will even rock stronger color wise!

I tend to like more muted colors, but for the people who prefer some saturation, here is one of my first versions of the video with more saturation. On my computer and phone this looks decent, but on my TV it is nuclear... so YMMV...

    Great shots, merce!

0.46-0.50 is my favorite shot, beautiful wide shot. Always lovin your composition, photographic eye! Colors are beautiful. Awesome work!

When I read your vimeo text, I was cheering: Just bought the Tokina 24-40 2.8 myself. Cannot wait to get it into my hands this weekend!

Still got my GX80, easy to grade, really fun to get nice colors out of it. Just the EVF is a pain, giving me a headache immediately, no

matter if refresh rate is maxed out in the menu. Bought a G7 as well. Haven´t used it yet.

With right grade it is very nice what GX80 can do i low light with ISO 1250. Would say, better than ISO 800 on G6.

Wow, writing about Pannys again. Sorry. Just having a little conversation with you, my friend:)

    Cheers

PS. Would you post some 24-40 shots as well? What sensor crop did you shoot the video above? Did you

shoot with ND or higher shutter(-stutter:)?

    Cheers :)

Will do fuzzy. I have a window of time before I have to sell off a lot of stuff and I decided I want to go out with a bang. It started when I saw that video I linked to a few pages ago and then I found Luke Neumann's old 5D3 raw videos that showcased similar locations as his recent GH5 videos and to be honest, imo, there was no contest. The 5D3 ML Raw videos look like they could have been projected on a big screen. It was an easy choice after that.

    Hey Merce!

Cannot wait to see your footage with your 5D3 Raw beauty! Didnt you try 50D Raw also? That would make you the owner of three raw cameras then:)

All someone needs to do is pool some money together to get Alex a 5D4 and he will make it happen for that camera.  He's mentioned this several times.  If he had the camera, he would do it.

Would donate 50 bucks, so Alex could buy an original Canon lenscap:)

    10bit would be nice.

However i would rather get a nice 8 bit c-log image from a 1DC than a crappy color 10bit image from a Sony.

so I would rather have them first look into color science, then we can talk 10 bit.

Cant wait for next month. A7SIII is gonna blow some minds.

let's all thank Panasonic for forcing Canon to give us C-Log and Sony to up their game.

Also the body will have apparently 20fps and pro speed features for photography.

So brace yourselves for the price...

So you will like the nice GH5 10bit VLOG output and leave the eventual A7SIII on the store shelfs then? :)

Did you check deezids 8bit VLOG footage? He´s been positng some of his footage on this forum. Looking awesome.

But he is really good at grading. This is his reel with GH4 footage:
