This looks awesome! The best testimony to a great camera! 8bit, f5 at iso 3200, no log - and then looking that great! You are kidding!

Great achievement on your side and on the GH5 side. Best thing Panasonic could do, to work with you! Congrats to this beautiful moody piece.

    1.25- just wow!

    Is that with the Tokina?

yeah, at 24mm, with focal reducer. Lovin the Tokina, very cinematic lens, though would say Tstop is about up to 3/4 stops less sensitive than Fstop.

Will compare it to my Tamron 20 to 40 2.7-3.5 soon, once I bought an Nikon to EF adapter for my Ef focal reducer. Also bought the FD mount Tokina 25-50 F4 for 10bucks.

Should arrive soon. Good night for now:)

  3. shoot, after quiete a bit of testing the ibis with 14-45mm, tokina 24-40, 28mm FD I almost forgot to recognize how very nice the ooc color is and how

awesome it is to grade. Was a fan of the G6 and how with a few tricks I got the grading I liked. But GX80 is so easy to grade and gives me what

I´d call the graded Panasonic color sience. Best bang for the buck image quality wise, if A7S night owl is not necessary. For what you see is what you

get approach, this camera is also beautiful for senseful low light stuff like evening in living rooms, cosy restaurant lights and stuff.

oh, ibis is great for steady shots or handheld camera, but in my opinion not close in making a flycam or gimbal obsolete, not close unfortunately.

But color has something I would color creaminess, gradations, oil paint, beautiful! HD is looking fine, 50p plenty aliasing. For the perfect HD alone I would

love to get a GH5. And i will in a few months, because of this camera, the pretty, nifty GX85!

Most comparisons between Sony and the GH5 I've seen so far said that the Sony has the better subjective image quality, low light, dynamic range and auto focus while the GH5 is just overall the way better camera to use. Guess we'll still have to wait some more for the perfect camera... like, forever.

Wow, on the web I´ve only seen the best GH5 stuff looking by far better than the best stuff I´ve seen from the A6300/6500.

I don´t mean to rant. Just curious to see one or two examples illustrating your preference. I typed with a talented wedding shooter who said

A6500 color was indeed so much better than the older Sony A7s. So would be cool, if you would like to share one or two examples. Thanks and cheers:)

The Varicam LT sensor for 4999 would be amazing.

Yeah, Aaron, thats what I was saying! That would be super awesome, combined with the full! dynamic range VLOG, not just the GH5 Log.

Please MFT mount too! I think you could sell your FS700 and Odyssey then :) Do you still own that combo? Have you been enjoying it?

Have any of you ever browsed the Adobe forums?  Are ANY of the questions "answered"?  It's like in the US "Office" when Toby from HR reveals that all of the complaints get filed in a big pile and the point of it all is just for people to have a place to vent.  Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.  Fuck that, indeed.

All right, back to individually transcoding each clip in Rocky Mountain Movie Converter (...you read that correctly).

Oh, cool, you´re using Rocky Mountain Movie Converter. I also like that tool. Now it seems even more legit, since you are using it!

Please forgive my little joke, I really appreciate and like your contributions and insights to video pros and nerds and dreamers!!

    cheers :)

Hey, I have a few charity projects I'm involved with in regards to videography.

As you can imagine, gathering interest is quite slow through word, mouth, facebook & text. I thought of the idea of trying to utilise video and video edits to catch people's interests and highlight the importance of such causes. I know its been done before and we've all seen those TV ads.. but I'm looking to try and shoot some stuff artistically and frame people who take part in a positive artsy light.

I was wondering how would you go about trying to shoot say water dripping off of something?

I've already bought a G80 for a decent price (670 on john lewis new with kit lens if anyones interested!)

exellent answer by fuzzy already! but, how did you get that 670 deal on johnlewis? to me it shows 799 :)

@PannySVHS I leave those at default and expose for 105% zebras. The curve does weird stuff when you adjust those settings ! I rather the lens & filter take care of contrast and stuff optically ??

Hey Kidz, thanks for sharing your vids. Great examples of different colorsciences and your great practical approaches

throughout your camera owning history. All put into really cool use to film something cool. Great stuff, visually and color styles wise!

So, overexposing then with Portait profile? Btw, what are your preferred focal lengths? In S35 terms, speedboosterd m43 that is,

I really enjoyed 24mm and 28mm, loving the 40mm as well, due to my tokina 24-40 I guess:) Pretty much all of my early stuff I shot with my 28mm FD.

This is a repost, so sorry to all of you, who´ve seen it before, Panny G6, natural all -2 and graded with 28mm at f8. And variable shutter:)

  9.

MFT mount, that awesome Varicam (LT) sensor and full Vari Log, great intra and interframe codecs, though locked to 10bit without RAW or 12 bit option,

internal ND- the awesomest possible successor to the AF100. Maybe some additional innovative features such as stepless cropping options,

lossless digizoom for HD and 2K and so on and that beautiful industrial design style of the LT and GH5. For 4999.99,

my dream camera dream come true :)

Edit: but then shitty display and micro hdmi and bad preamps ;)

  10. Arrgh! That last shot- beautiful! What focal lenght did you use on that one? Was that using the complete area of the 36mmx24mm sensor or what kind of crop factor? Got myself another tokina, the 25-50 f4 and a sigma zoom master 35-70 2.8-4 for really cheap! Liking the Tokina 24 -40 f2.8 so far,

great mechanics and to hold in hand and work it. Though I think

on my lens T Stop is rather a 3.8 instead of 2.8. I tested it against the beautiful pocketcam oly xz10, little marvel it is.

    Hey Kidz!

Looking really beautiful, you and G80 pushing it color wise, this is really exellent! Color and contrast at -5 and pushed back in post?

Lens looking fantastic too at 3.5! 20mm boosted- guess gotta play little more with my fd 20mm 2.8, which hasnt seen much love yet.

Well I will state this and be done on here period, which I am sure will make a lot of people happy.

This whole forum has turned into basically a GH5, G85, 5D mkIII, with a little Anamorphic atmosphere, and that is pretty much it. I don't have any of those, I don't Want any of those. So I will go somewhere else. I know, I hear the applause.

It was fun to start with here, but this is more DPR than the EOSHD was, when I started. So enjoy, and I hope it all really works out for you. I really mean that. Goodbye.

Hey, please stay. I too find some threads not as insteresting as some other ones. But this forum has a million awesome posts.

Just type eoshd plus your wanted information in google and you have a great and informative and cheerful read.

Just keep up the conversation with the people you enjoy about topics you enjoy. Having followed in the past some of your

posts, I can tell that you had a lot of fun here. So why not sticking around or at least dropping by once in a while.

    cheers

Edit: I pressed the like button for agreeing on the thirst for more lively topics, NOT for the leaving part though! :)

The thing not really mentioned often enough in this thread, as that is really what it's all about, in this or any camera, is the image quality...I have to say I was expecting a good image...Panasonic completely surpassed my expectations with the image out of the GH5!

Really seeing the same. Some lovely stuff and it´s an unique color signature as well. One thing, about this popular vlogger besides Casey-

what is so exiting about his vlogs? I find Caseys vids fun and joyful and full of positivity. The "other" guys videos, on the contraray,

    didnt connect with me yet.

Oh, can you please post that footage? This looks awesome! Is this in Cine D, all zero but sharpness at -5? What iso, 2/3 underexposed? Oh, so many

    questions! Sorry bout that:) cheers

They look a little browner than they did on my computer.

I also rarely shoot anything longer than a minute, so I may try to up the resolution to a 2.5k 2:35 variant to see how long I can record with it.

Now, that looks very sweet. I think this is an awesome setting for a mood piece. Would you like to share some footage? Really

awesome looking. So how do you like canon raw from the 5diii vs black magic raw?

By the way, what monopod are you using in your videos? I think I remember you did use one, didnt you?

Always loving your camera movements and framing.

Hey Geoff, is that an m-mount lens? On your Sony A7s?

Thats like a 14mm on s35. Now I am interested to see if my eye prooved my right :)

I have the Canon FD 20mm F2.8, beautiful made lens. But would guess it has a tstop of 3.5+ though.

Your lens lookin great. Remember the aperture? Did you shoot it with your color settings?

Mind showing some footage with your voigtlaender?

So long sweet message board about as4000000 and gh12848 cameras.

Hallo Ed, gh12345 is one part of this very thread I started. The other part of it are you guys, your passion and inventive approaches

to actually create pieces of meaning, shapes and light and movement and so, with impact of different kinds and strengths.

To me this forum seems a good place to be at, with its 123456 members, Ed, Zach and the other ones of us 123454 people:)

You may want to check out the a5100 instead. It's a little cheaper, plus it has touch screen PDAF with native lenses.

Hey Merce! A6000 has a nicer body and control I wouldnt want to resist, if I had to decide:) Good night, my friend.

  19. Awesome piece, Matt! Beautiful and beautifully done. Have been thinking about the A6000 for lens reasons lately, having really cheap wide angles

at hand with a focal reducer. Well, watching the B-roll now!:) Oh, and Happy Birthday, Matt!:)

Edit: Oh, and weird, the very beginning with the slow motion part reminded me of Scorseses Mean Streets. I don´t know why it did.

And then, in the second part of your film the song ... from Means Streets by the master himself. Magic!

Eoshd, great place for camera and film enthusiasts!

I have been thinking about an a6000 lately and here it is, a beautiful video shot by Matt of this forum.

Love the coincidences and incidences on this forum. Love this forum. Love your guys´ contributions. Love your quirkyness, creativity and joy!

That was shot with the eos-m.

Bummer! Otherwise it would have meant, FD to EF is possible without loss in quality! Now that would have been just too nice! :)

In the nerdy spirit of this thread, I watched Mattias´ bmpcc lens tips two days ago when looking for cmount zoom solutions. Great find that 18 to 108!.

Now I remember had been looking forward to more LS300 footage to see from Mattias.

By the way, as far as gearhead video consumption goes, looking for certain kind of cameras always lead me to certain kind of footage and aesthetic insights. F.i. regarding 35mm stills cams: cameras like yashica 35cc, pentax espio mini, Fuji natura etc. always gave me the kind of photography I enjoyed the best and learned the most from.

That´s why I still believe in the quest for the best personal camera to own. Just like Zach has been on that quest to find the best lens

for his Canon Ti, his Bmount experiment, his quest for a filmmaker´s state of mind, his search for secrets, oddities and joy.

I will check now for Kendy Tis footage, if he has done another Sony DSLM video or if he has come back to beautiful Canon color.

See you later, I´m busy for now :)

Are you sure it wasn't all of the times I shared every failed color test from my Samsung NX500?

Your NX500 ones are my second faves then:) Still thinking about that FD 35-70mm f4.0 I saw in your cool Canon Ti video.

Just not sure, if I will miss the one stop compared to an f2.8 lens. By the way, how did you dare to adapt FD

    to EF mount? :)

Hey guys, I didnt include ES alias in my considerations of the odd and quirky and joyful posts on this forum!

Rather of the kind of filming Raw with the EOS M or lens discussions like about the 28mm "Hollywood" F2.0 and

its cheaper substitutes and stuff like that! :) Just about finding out about little gems of knowledge and secret sauce.

And some guilty pleasures of nerdom.

And regarding Zach, I think he gave impulses for very lively and joyful discussions with

benefit to knowledge regarding apects of filmmaking and regarding ourselves as a community.

Zach is a passionate filmlover and the other alias is just an alias we might not want to have to worry that much about anymore:/

As for the gems and camera geeks amusement, everybody has some favorites and beloved reading and watching moments

and experiences. For instance article and discussion about Kendy Ti in his Canon days. Havent checked his stuff since a

video with Sony color science showed up in his channel. What a superficial guy I have become:)

My favorite lens peeping moment was mercers fd 35-70 f4.0 test or his 12.5mm cmount footage, covering m43 image circle!

Loved the enthusiasm of @maxotics and his analytical technical essays and conversations with jcs. I put Max in @ so he might

get a ring back to eoshd again:) So much love and beautiful amount of inside quirky knowledge. What were your beloved

reading moments and insider tricks or odd workarounds or techniques?

Oh, from BTS of Musgo, a nice GH2 feature- the DOP and director Gami Orbegoso was tight on a string to the talent in

front of the camera. Someone has been sharing this again a few days ago on Eoshd.

Stuff like that. So please share, if you like!
