What this can't do is replicate the movement when you have objects in the foreground because the lens is stationary, so no sliding out from behind objects and such. I think that's what Phil was talking about.
With IBIS you can do slider like movements and take advantage of the parallax effect and stay in 4k. I don't think I'd ever use the in cam feature, I'd just go handheld for the better visual or do it in post.
    Just my opinion.

Sony now includes its medical division in Imaging, Canon, Olympus and others do not. From the report:
"In addition, the medical business, previously included in All Other, is now included in the IP&S segment as a result of a change in the Corporate Executive Officer in charge of the medical business. "
Those numbers don't look all that great next to Canon. But the SAR guy obviously doesn't bother to read the report, he just goes for clickbait.

I'd be all over a Terra 4k at $2500 with the EF mount. Pair that with the two Sigma f/1.8 zooms and a small lens for gimbal work, damn...

The Chris got a reaction from Jimmy in Canon Says Q1 Profit Hit by Weak Printer, Camera Sales
Tesla is a misguided comparison, and their reports read just like any other, all roses and rainbows despite the fact they can't actually sell cars at a profit. Cars are a money pit, and they likely will never be able to make a profit selling them. To produce them in significant enough numbers to make a profit means a large increase in production costs. Their losses would be much worse if Toyota hadn't essentially gifted them a shuttered factory.
Canon has been profitable for over a decade and will still be profitable going forward - they also own about 40% of the digital camera market. Tesla has never made a profit and sells fewer cars in a year than Toyota sells in just two days, they're a tiny niche brand using cars to showcase their battery tech - so they can sell batteries and associated systems to others. They're never going to make a profit selling cars because of economies of scale, development costs are high, when you sell in small volume you don't move enough units to recoup costs. The money is in the batteries - that's why Musk built the Gigafactory.
Tesla makes no profit, its selling all its cars at a loss, its burning its cash reserves, and its stock sells for $250 a share. Canon makes a measly $360m in one quarter (more profits than Tesla will make based on forecasts for another couple years) and its trading around $30. I know which stock I would buy (hint - its the one with the better price/earnings ratio).
Tesla looks like a dot-com bubble/burst company that will sell off most its intellectual property (cars) to a Chinese conglomerate and just make batteries in a few years.
Annual income didn't decrease by 39%, your financial ignorance is detrimental to whatever point you're trying to make. Canon is still the most profitable camera company on the planet, not sure what you're gloating about really other than the inability to read a financial report.

Ambitious, but unless they already have a working beta prototype in final testing right now in order to sort all the image and software bugs, no way it ships this year. Instead of taking deposits to fund development they should have gone Kickstarter, but that would require footage, which means this is probably vaporware at this point.
Getting all the hardware and software to properly integrate is no easy task. Blackmagic actually has experience producing cameras and hardware, and they still can't come close to meeting any date. As we've seen, many features are introduced well after release with FW updates.
The Bolex guys miss their planned ship date by well over a year after their Kickstarter campaign ended IIRC. And the development process was already well underway at that point. The complexities of getting all the finishing touches right and sorting all the bugs really slowed them down.
I think one of the more established players beats them to market in the next year or so - effectively killing this before it's finished.

So cap 4k at 5 minutes like the RX100IV or the upcoming Nikon. Fuji's big blunder was simply revealing its capable of 4k. The RX isn't suffering under a wave of negative reviews because of the limitation. The a6300 is getting hammered (and rightfully so) because the Sony junket testers said there was no overheating at all, but actual buyers are reporting shutdowns not only shooting video, but just using the camera for long periods while shooting stills or even while navigating the menus for long periods setting the camera up.
Focus groups are a good way to make sure you have all the "must have" features covered, but will stifle innovation. As the Jobs quote says, you never know till you see it.

    1. Record in Film-log RAW at native ISO. (No other settings needed.)

2, Bring into DaVinci Resolve which automatically converts it to a normalized REC.709 output. (No other settings needed.)

    3. Adjust color or exposure a little bit to suit each clip. (No other settings needed.)

    4. Render to DNxHD or HR 10-bit as a master file to be uploaded anywhere or encoded to small compressed files for whatever.

OKAY - I'm sort of joking...a little bit. But not really.
All those other lengthy complicated steps others listed? Yeah, I have to do all that stuff with my cameras that shoot compressed codecs too, but not with BMD RAW.

Once you go RAW it is very....VERY hard to go back.

Fuji rumors says the 35/2 is one of a few lenses that takes full advantage of the new AF system, the others being the 16-55, 50-140, 100-400 and 90mm. Hopefully there will be a FW update to improve performance with other lenses - though with some it may require improved internals to boost speed.

Love what Blackmagic is doing, just don't have the patience anymore to wait for a camera that was announced almost a year ago and was originally supposed to ship a few months after. They do this every year, wish they would just announce less and deliver more.

I thought Ghostbusters was a comedy. Just watched the original and Pt.2 last week, they were funny even though the sequel was an obvious cash grab. RIP Harold Ramis, was hoping they would get together for a Pt. 3 as it seemed like Murray was hinting about the possibility, but his passing meant that was never going to happen.
Don't care about the gender of the cast, comedies should be funny. The trailer isn't funny at all and it looks like the reboot is exactly what I thought it would be -- Bridesmaids (not funny either) ripping off a classic. Melissa McCarthy = Adam Sandler to me, can't stand either one.
I'll wait for the DVD on Netflix.
Many of the comments are from morons, the anonymity of inter web strikes again. But this one was funny: "Sony next venture is telling the story of the black panthers...staring 4 white dudes"

I've only watched a few videos, the lack of aliasing stood out to me when watching on a 4k monitor. Power lines and all those intersecting lines are clean from these three videos. This is just part of the screen cap, not a full 2160p image, hopefully it can be viewed at full size.

Not full of shit, but maybe I was a little harsh. 50% more pixels gives you quite a bit more detail and cropping abilities, that 16mp sensor is a couple generations behind the a6300's new sensor. The DR advantage is real, more latitude to move shadows and highlights, its easy to see in any of the image comparison tools - its not a wash. When you downscale a 24mp to 16mp the gap widens. The PADF in the a6300 is a significant upgrade over the a6000 (I have the a5100 and the A7rII), its tracking abilities are much better than anything DFD is capable of producing, and it works while shooting video.
The LAEA3 opens up the A-mount and its great glass. You get native quality AF out of many Canon lenses with any of the AF adapters, and the new Sigma adapter looks even better than what currently available as AF-c is fully functional. When talking lenses with the a6300 and A7rII - the EF lens lineup is part of the mix and gives you more options than m43. There are lots of gems in the m43 lineup, but like every mount there's lots of mediocre lenses as well. There are certainly more than 3 great E-mount lenses.
Batteries weigh 45g, its not an issue. I bought a GH4 to replace my a5100 and while the video was awesome, the stills were lacking for me - I shoot mostly natural light and the noise was just awful when boosting shadows. I kept the a5100.
I'm still impressed by what I'm seeing out of the G7, I'm going to get one to shoot video as current prices make it a bargain. But I'm still getting the a6300 as its going to be a better stills platform for me. There are pros and cons of any system and we could argue about this forever, use what you like.

Fuji claimed when the Xpro2 was released the new processor can do full readout with 4k, but as we see from this they say people shooting with the ancient Xpro1 don't want video, so they didn't include it. Stupid strategy to segment (sell) the XT2.
