Deadcode got a reaction from kye in 5K preview on Canon 5D2 ???
5D2 is using Digic 4 processor 5D3 is using Digic 5.Everything that is possible with the Mark II is possible with the Mark III.
5D4 is not hacked yet. Yes, A1ex was able to run his code on the 5D4 (just like with the EosR) but he is not owning one, so he cannot continue the progress.
Until one of the skilled hackers own at least one newer (Digic7+) cameras we can not expect any progress.

Dont forget the rolling shutter / overheat at a6300 / a6500, overheat / sunspot / bad battery life / poor AF with A7S II, The crappy 4K at fullframe with A7R II, the aliasing heavy  1080p with A7 II. Sony was bashed a lot in a lot of reviews
But they overcome the major weaknesses with the third generation. Still not perfect, but much more value for the money and much less pain in the ass comparing to previous generations.
Actually i dont remember if there was major problems with GH3/GH4. Maybe they were perfect? ?

I'm sure most of the Z7 customers are photographers who rarely record video. And they use factory default settings.
Those who want video oriented camera, will not buy Z7, nor EosR. The customers buy these cameras for photography.
And very few of the photographers are even heard about Davinci Resolve for example.
I was in several Sony Mirrorless/A7/a6xxx Facebook groups, and even after several years the "why my slog2 is so noisy" question is STILL on the table.
My point is: we, here on EosHD forums are only the small percentage of the users who actually want to examine 100% of the capabilities from these cameras. Others just use them out of box.

Technically the pocket 4K sensor size is the same as the eos r in 4k mode. I would love to see sharpness comparison with the same lens from your hands.

The image from the BMPCC4K is superior to GH5, but not this much. It's awesome if you just put a REC709 LUT to BMD Film how good the results are. But it does not require advanced grading skills to make the GH5 image look good.
This is my problem with Wofcrow's Alexa comparison too. We can see REC709 LUT's side by side. But what happens if you want to match the GH5 and BM's image to Alexa? Is it possible? (Yes...) how hard is it? . Can the cheap cameras keep up? (in some cases, yes).

The dynamic range is impressive. This shot is waaaaay underexposed and still "just" ProRes. But it can be lifted easily

I assume you think you are one of these $10k level photographers?
Seems odd that you waste your days being bitchy on a forum and filming test footage with early teen children.
This thread was a really nice one until you arrived, just professionals discussing craft. Like many other threads beforehand, you've filled it with your brand of negativity.

Watch this video and stop saying that Pocket4K is not сinematic. In the hands of the master with taste and good lenses, even the GH5 is beautiful. Otherwise, it is too early for you to have such a camera, learn to shoot first
Shot on GH5 using Lomo anamorphic and spherical lenses (50mm roundfront and +1 +2 diopters in a few shots). Graded with FilmConvert using KD 5207 Vis3.

Ive never heard a good DP complain that the Red Epic, Red Helium, Arri Alexa, Sony F55 are not full frame. I've put the Metabones XL speedbooster on my pocket4K  and super happy with the look.
Andrew, it seems that the whole BMD Manchester incident still has a bitter taste in your mouth. You are looking for any excuse to hate this camera in the same way that most heavy forum users look for excuses to hate on any camera and use a cameras lack of features as excuses as to why they are on forums rather than out shooting nice images. Sorry, I know that view is going to make me unpopular on a forum but I think it's kinda on the mark.
Is the Pocket4K for everyone? No. The camera isn't a white unicorn....it isn't the perfect camera for everyone. No camera is.
If you just want to shoot bare bones, in the hand video with no light, get an A7III. If you want to VLOG, get a camera with a flippy screen (although interestingly, I know a few vloggers that use Red Helium as a vlogging camera!). It really depends on what your priorities are.
The Pocket4k is a solid little camera. Sure I wish the battery lasted longer than an hour and I wish the screen was easier to see in bright sun but having used Sony A7 series, Panasonic GH series and the Fuji X-T2 all as B cams, would I chose to shoot with one of those over the Pocket4K? No chance! I still need to add external monitors to those small hybrid cameras anyway and their battery life is barely any better ( apart from GH series) ........but the Pocket4k image creams them!

Actually Cine 4 has a very nice highlight roll-off. But it uses 0-255 data level, and even Davinci Resolve cant recognize this in Auto mode, you have to switch it manually.
So technically you have worked with Cine 4 like you throwed away the darkest 0.5 stop and the top 1-1.5 stop DR. (where the roll-off is actually happening :D)
Exposing for Cine 4 properly means 50-60 IRE luminance level for the skin tones, and not 0EV AE
Actually exposure does not really affect skin tones if it's above the noise level, which is around 40 IRE (ok, this statement is true mostly when recording in 10 bit)
    Mark Romero 2
"Well... according to the sony help guide scroll to the bottom of here: http://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1420/v1/en/contents/TP0000435736.html ), that seems to be what they are saying:
"Setting [ITU709(800%)] or [S-Log2] may cause an error in the white balance custom setup. In that case, set the exposure bright first and then perform custom setup."
Although it is hard for me to interpret that..."
Slog2 is designed to use with S-Gamut. S-Gamut has to be mapped to REC709 Gamut properly (which is not happening usually because the lack of knowledge, this is the reason why everyone is crying about how hard is to grade sony footage) and only 3200K and 5600K correction LUT's are existing right now. So if you are recording for example in 4300K, the mapped colors will be off.
I know everyone is using SLOG2 with S-gamut3.cine, but without gamut mapping the skin tones will not have enough thickness.

Now back to topic: every LOG footage has it's proper exposure levels for skin and 90% reflectance white, and every gamut has to be remapped to REC709 (or wider) colorspace in the grading process.

With +2 stop overexposure, you still have around 12 EV dynamic range, and each stop represented about the same amount of luminance levels.
If you are shooting regular gamma, not each stop has the same amount of luma data which can cause limitation in colorgraing.
I tested extensively Cine4 (0EV) against SLOG2 +2EV which represents the same amount of dynamic range, but the low end of the Cine4 is heavily compressed compared to SLOG2. If you lift your shadows Cine4 falls in to pieces. Of course with regular grading both looks good and very close to each other.
My conclusion after tons of testing: expose for the highlights in wide DR scene, using SLOG2 for best looking image, and always expose for the skintones when using Cine4, and let the highlights clip, if necessary to get out of camera nice results.

No it's not. The max resolution in full sensor mode is 2240x1260.
4K raw is barely possible, the SD card interface max writing speed is 95MB/s just like the CF card interface in 5D3. Which means with 10 bit compressed raw around 3.5K will be the max possible for continuous shooting. And because of the 30MP sensor  it's gonna be over 2x crop.
But let's hope for the best.
