Check out this Music Video i shot on the FX3.
The Camera is a massive upgrade to the A7iii. In Postproduction it was pretty easy to improve the lighting due to the 10 bit and it was finally possible to shot nice summer wether with Sony. But then you upload it to Youtube and the compression messes it all up...

It’s an untapped market. They figured that the problem existed from their previous cameras burning and blistering their customer’s faces... now Canon is getting into the game... it’s only natural... a true professional doesn’t have time to run to the fridge for an ice pack. This is perfect for run and gun facecooling!!!
This is how you introduce a problem that never existed in the first place... and solve it too... brilliant.

Some of us really like that camera Shot in its sweet spot, that sensor cranks out gorgeous pictures with very little fuss. Think of it as digital slide film.

I've seen the Production4K Camera go for as little as £550-650 and there are a couple on eBay uk now at that sort of price.
To be able to get a global shutter camera that can shoot 4K CinemaDNG or ProRes internal straight to cheap high capacity media that has an internal battery and big screen for that sort of money is almost unbelievable, even if it has a limited ISO and the ergonomics of a paving slab.
Its certainly not a run and gun shot grabber but if you can live with its limitations, and even actually embrace the benefits of it requiring a bit more graft, then I think its still relevant and an absolute bargain compared to anything else.
The interesting thing from my own personal point of view about the Production4K Camera is the "very nice" to "meh" ratio in terms of footage I've seen with it is consistently amongst the highest of any camera.
I think that definitely reflects the fact that it doesn't lend itself to being just wafted around and a bit more care has to be taken with it.

You don't want to shoot lower either. 

Just pretend the option to change ISO doesn't exist!

As long as you understand what that you'll be shooting at iso 400 and no higher you'll be good. Keep in mind also that if you push it to iso 800 in post you'll start seeing fix pattern noise. So make sure you are exposing properly. Having some fast glass will help if you are shooting at night, as long as you have light sources. You'll definitely have to light dimly lit scenes. 

The plus side is 12 bit RAW will look and grade quite nice and of course the global shutter.

The BMD Production Camera 4K only exists because BMD was trying to rush out the door a 4K S35 camera, the later 4.6K sensor is vastly superior.
And poor low light capability. 
And awful ergonomics.

We still have one unit in our arsenal but 4K version to still be used in a few productions such as one feature film released in 2019. You can find the thread here in the footage section of this forum.

I think it would be great to ask them to implement a 2,8K Mode on the GH5 or GH5S via firmware at the max. 4K Bandwith that might add to the quality of the picture i guess. Given that this is one of the learnings that came up in the last time i believe that would be something that they could do to make their customers happy...

I guess in ten years some 18 year old will shoot something great with 8K on the old used Canon R5 that he bought for cheap. 🙂

check out this little video i shot for german based band Trebor.
Shot on A7iii and Atomos. Surprisingly the material from the a7iii looks a bit different than the one from the atomos. Light was changing heavily throughout the shoot ( big windows) so it was kind of hard to keep the light consistent. I could set up a light for the close ups.

Check out this little musicvideo i shot with the A7iii . The combination of Youtube compression and Lumetri looks force the pink skintones in some shots to TO THE MAX!
 

As usual this makes me wonder what makes Vimeo go this route. I believe this must be massively reducing their number of clients.
I guess it's quite hard (and expensive) for a smaller player to fight these legal battles regarding copy rights. But the lack of communication is an absolut downer.
I am still really fond of the whole Vimeo universe. I still love  that you can ask all these incredible artists direct questions regarding gear, lighting and techniques and the rate of replies is very high.

That has hardly been done on the net so far. Only by a very few people, putting it into beast mode for cinema production, what it´s been made for. Great point! Such a fantastic camera the GH5!

If it's in RAW and you're using Resolve, a little spatial NR on the first node will do the trick. I've gotten away with some serious underexposure when shooting in 4,6K RAW that way.
