deezid reacted to Emanuel in The New Panasonic G100 “vlogging” Camera to launch June 24th
Odd not 4K60p, when any smartphone without mention Osmo Pocket and alike have it...

Probably 8 bit V-Log L.
Not usable if so and pretty much a G90 in a slightly smaller housing.

deezid reacted to Sage in GH5 to Alexa Conversion
Will do; that's a relief!
The challenge with in-cam monitoring (at least on the GH5) is that the interpolation with 17x is the worst I've seen. I remember hearing the S1/H could accept 33x, is that so?
This is an area that I want to spend some time studying once a few things are finished. There is variance; the Alev sensor has been said to be tuned between the photosite dyes, UV/IR filter and color sci to have more consistent results across different light sources (there used to be a blurb on their site about this, the old Classic page). The conversions are inherently light source specific (i.e. sunlight or halogen)
Count me in!

You would guess that following Sony's lead generally basing their new one on the RX100 that Panasonic would base theirs on the LX10/15 so it does seem unusual for them to give it a "G" model name if that was the case.
Though they could just be harmonising names and some of their models do have different model names in Japan (GX80 is GX7ii etc).
If it is based on the LX10/15 with a mic input and a sideways screen then it will be pretty decent.
I'm guessing they'll add HLG (it already has Cinelike D if you use my little discovery ) but they might struggle against the Sony AF and the Sony also has quite a neat face based AE function that is very useful for vloggers.
If they keep the F1.4-2.8 lens of the LX10/15 then it will certainly be much faster.
However.....If the "G100" name is referencing that they've repurposed the LX100 with a swivel screen and a microphone input then, well, that would be very interesting even for those of us who've never stared into a lens and said "Hey guys, what's happening ?"

I hope it comes with better codecs than the Sony ZV1, preferably 10 bit and V-Log L at least.
Otherwise just go with the ZV1 and shoot HLG.

That looks like temporal NR gone wrong.
Don't really look like compression artifact, but could be broken compressor.
By the looks in the quick glance I gave the youtube video it's probably noise reduction. Sony likes to use massive temporal noise reduction to pretend their cameras are good in low light.
In one of the images it looks like ghost teeth on the phone.so it might be broken memory compression or something.

Very similar to actual V-Log (not the L variant), that's why you can basically use Luts made for F-Log on V-Log footage and vice versa

Indeed, Z6 and Z7 have a similar problem. Indirect bad sign for Sigma issue is that they have it even on firmware 3.0. Looks like it is impossible to fix or Nikon just doesn't care.

Z-CAM also evolved from action cameras. The company was founded on Go Pro type cameras.
How many here actually own a Komodo?
I say give it a chance before talking it down.

I don't think it'll be anything magic but if it can offer clean high iso's, global shutter, high dynamic range, high resolution............ what's not to like?
Not sure what people are expecting from some random videos of people at a beach.

Those aren’t bad specs if they are official. Mainly, REDCODE RAW, 6K, PDAF, and a R mount if it’s closer to $6K price range.

If someone wanted something smaller than an Alexa, cheap enough to crash and better image quality than a gopro then they could have just bought a BMPCC or BMMCC.
Sounds like they set out to build a camera for a specific task without first phoning up the camera store to see if one existed already.

deezid reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon 1D X Mark III Review // Filmmaking, video and cinema camera. Get the Fuji X-T4 instead?
I am having problems with the jog wheel on my 1D X Mark III popping every full 360 degree rotation, so there is a mechanical problem there and my body will be returned for a refund and so this is only a short review.
This review also marks a milestone for EOSHD! After 10 years of blog posts, I am going to be doing YouTube now as well! Looking forward to doing MANY a video and growing the channel in a big way. If you'd like to be interviewed, or featured on the channel, do let me know.
So the 1D X Mark III then...

Reality check on hybrid FF camera RS that can do at least 10bit:
1Dx III 5.5k and 4k 50-60fps, 16ms
SH1 4k, 24.2ms
GFX100, 28ms
SH1 6k, 29.7ms
1Dx III 5.5k and 4k , 32ms
I'm I missing other 10bit hybrid cameras?
Bottom-line currently on FF you get a bad rolling shutter with any 10bit camera.....
The only frustration is why if you put in MF the sensor cannot switch to 16ms as in 60fps......

Sadly yes. It's why I left. The change was unbearable.

Hey, one positive about posts like this: Alt right assholes and Nazi sympathizers have no problem exposing themselves. Don’t let the door (or maybe some riot police?) hit you on the way out guys 🙂

There are some exceptions to the free speech rule actually.
Racists or apologists for them, lose their right to a voice.
So just so you know why, if I do have to delete posts on this topic it'll be for those reasons.
Same with the "America first" MAGA nationalists. Fuck off.

It was. Next thing one says is, this never even happened. I wished your post never happened. The man will never breathe again, nor will he be able to tell us why his murderer didnt let him breathe, instead pushing his knee in his back. Now you take a deep breath and leave it at this please.

Will Smith said recently that racism isn't increasing - the difference is that it's being photographed and filmed - now we realise just how much of it there is. If it wasn't for the filming of George Floyd's murder by a policeman, it may never have come to light in public. All of us who have a camera, smartphone or online presence should keep this flame alive and shine a light on the truth wherever it confronts us. Important photos and videos must never be censored.
However when a long-time DPReview forum contributor tried to share his photos of the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis, he was immediately censored.
I have also been subject to censorship on the DPReview forum (my URL is banned completely) so I know what it's like to have your voice silenced from a community.

deezid got a reaction from Snowfun in Low light
Here's some seriously underexposed S1H 4K DCI ALL-I footage (original and denoised/graded) at ISO51200.
To me it looks better than ISO4000 on the GH5 which I used in my debut feature film in a night scene. I'm quite impressed with the latest firmware update 2.0.
I think when exposed properly I can easily push it one stop further in grading to get usable ISO102400
