Are any of these tests showing the difference between the Pocket 4K and GH5S?
Are any showing the actual benefits of RAW vs H.265?
It's all just eye candy.
I want to know what the actual image quality is relative to the competition (X-T3, GH5S, Z7, Magic Lantern and A7 III).

I love the image coming off the C200, but it is a 7500$ camera.
The Pocket 4K is a 1000$ cinema camera, with Resolve, a beefy 19mm wide sensor, very nice codecs, TC, mini canon, full HDMI, and it's small and has nice color, latitude and sensitivity. For me, doing mainly fiction work, is a no brainer.

Philip Bloom has received the pocket cam from PROAV TV
Looking forward to seeing what he can do with the cam

If I get mine tomorrow I can do every single test anyone needs on here. I need to learn the camera so what better way than to take requests!
Haven’t used the UI since I shot with an UM4K like 2 years ago. So lots of shooting the coming days if I get it!

So we are comparing it to the EOS R are we
It is 4k60. EOS R doesn't even do 4K60!
No-additional crop in 1.5x Super 35mm 4K/24/25/30p. GH5 isn't 1.5x crop. It's 2x crop. Quite different.
Speed Booster = full frame. On GH5, close but no cigar.
Codec - FAR superior to EOS R. Rolling shutter - FAR superior. Build quality - superior. Low light - superior (yes, really). Handling - superior. EVF - superior. Price - $700 less!

Yeah I'm keeping my Gh5 alongside it for a while as a backup cam until im confident it won't fail. Saying that, I would do that with any new camera for paid work

Ive never heard a good DP complain that the Red Epic, Red Helium, Arri Alexa, Sony F55 are not full frame. I've put the Metabones XL speedbooster on my pocket4K and super happy with the look.
Andrew, it seems that the whole BMD Manchester incident still has a bitter taste in your mouth. You are looking for any excuse to hate this camera in the same way that most heavy forum users look for excuses to hate on any camera and use a cameras lack of features as excuses as to why they are on forums rather than out shooting nice images. Sorry, I know that view is going to make me unpopular on a forum but I think it's kinda on the mark.
Is the Pocket4K for everyone? No. The camera isn't a white unicorn....it isn't the perfect camera for everyone. No camera is.
If you just want to shoot bare bones, in the hand video with no light, get an A7III. If you want to VLOG, get a camera with a flippy screen (although interestingly, I know a few vloggers that use Red Helium as a vlogging camera!). It really depends on what your priorities are.
The Pocket4k is a solid little camera. Sure I wish the battery lasted longer than an hour and I wish the screen was easier to see in bright sun but having used Sony A7 series, Panasonic GH series and the Fuji X-T2 all as B cams, would I chose to shoot with one of those over the Pocket4K? No chance! I still need to add external monitors to those small hybrid cameras anyway and their battery life is barely any better ( apart from GH series) ........but the Pocket4k image creams them!

@Mrrvrn Sigma 18-35 combined with that Viltrox looks pretty good on Pocket 4K.

Yeah the flare into the lens onto the ump is might giving some problem in this example.
I installed beta 6 and tested it out on a fashion project. I have not gone in post yet, just quickly loaded a clip in resolve. And dang the UMP is looking really amazing with the update. (maybe even alexa good). But need to test out the fpn still. But blackmagic raw 12:1 looks like a godsend right now.

I think it's clog3 that has a higher black point.
I found the c200 noisier in the shadows than the UMP! At 800 ASA - was not expecting that.
Thanks - yes Canon is much more green.
I think yes still UMP has that magenta feel - which isn't bad - but yes also agree UMP has more gradients so much dimensions on the face and secondary highlights and all that - so the image feels more organic
yes they both do good things - the c200 is smoother - but yea lacks the three dimensional quality.

Here's some test footage from Photokina (will upload more and comparisons with the A73 later)
1st clip: F-Log All-Intra 400mbit 4K DCI, 25p, sharpening/nr -4 and inter frame nr off, native ISO640
Provided a graded version as well with some midtone contrast added to skin tones as well

Sorry for the shakiness.
After a full day of photokina with an unstabilized lens it's quite hard to shoot stable footage...
Shutter was at 1/100s to compensate for the strong lights.

is this camera too heavy?

Thanks... hard to know what these film simulations might be doing... Eterna is the only one I use really, as I know exactly what that is doing and adding the LUT in post to f-log or adding it as a film simulation is exactly the same really.... F-log + eterna lut only gives slightly better results when really pushing the grade, and even then, it is only slight.
The people who were getting waxing on the XT2, was that before f-log?
-
deezid reacted to frontfocus in Fuji X-T3 and X-T4 discussion
Some of the film simulations are made to produce waxy skin. They dialed it down after many raised their voices about it. But it‘s not a bug it‘s a feature. Fuji cameras are very popular in parts of asia and waxy skin there is often what people, especially young females, are looking for.
of course it would be best if it were a menu option
-
deezid got a reaction from jonpais in Fuji X-T3 and X-T4 discussion
You can't get rid of the waxiness as well as lack of definition and texture of skin, while you can easily fix colors in post.
Astia
Inter frame NR: OFF
Lowered highlights a tiny bit
Brightened shadows a tiny bit
Sharpening -4
NR: -4
(F-log showed the same issue)
The Sony was running my custom profile using Still gamma and Pro color mode and some other tweaks.
Guess which camera looked better.
