I don't understand why you have to be so asinine about this - he explains in the description of the video that he is aware of the fact that the footage is rocky, what the reason for it is, and then goes on to explain why he choose to include the footage anyway. What more do you want?

Most cameras are shit in about 6 months when the next one comes out!
Pocket 4K is flavour of the month but when people start to sit down and actually edit 4K 60p Cinema DNG on their machines, the tears of frustration are going to come pouring out. You think 1080p 24p uncompressed DNG was choppy to edit with big file sizes, you ain't seen nothing yet
They will all be back to the warm embrace of the full frame look and IBIS, huge EVF and looooong battery life, 240fps and 10bit on an A7S III / Panasonic full frame Lumix in no time.
I can imagine. It wouldn't do them any favours. Maybe that's why they didn't let Cinema5D shoot with it haha

    Hey Everyone,
Here’s a bunch of stuff I’ve shot, graded and edited for music videos between 2012-2018.
The shots in the reel not done by me are the drone shots.

For you camera nerds, I used......
    Sony FS700, FS5, FS7, F55, A7SII, A6500.
    Panasonic GH3, GH5.
    DJI X3, X5R.

The SHEER number of Fake Profiles by supposedly new members (banned members with fake new IDs), and International Trolls from places as far away as Egypt and other places seems to have terribly swelled of late.

There should a Rule in Place, making it mandatory for new members to have a cooling off period, from the time of registration to the time of first posting (maybe a week), and then another 24 hours before each of the next 3 posts. There are just too many trolls and IDs by a handful of lurking members whose raison d'être is solely to troll across all communities where open and free debates are encouraged and allowed. While their contributions to tech and filmmaking is bland or non-existent, their trolling is way too much.

Yep. To me the ineptness that they have shown is a troubling trend. Yeah they make pretty killer products at a really fair price. But what good is it all if no coordination to amount to crap  seems to be the outcome of it.
True specs wise in a lot of areas are scare as hens teeth. When the hell it is Really going to ship?  This thing could be the best thing since sliced bread, but we don't know when the delivery man is going to show up, or what the hell bread we are getting, let alone how it is going to be sliced. Strange goings on.

I don't have a strong opinion about this whole issue, but if I were a Blackmagic employee who made decisions on these things (which doesn't describe John Brawley, btw), someone would say "hey, shouldn't we give a review camera to Andrew Reid? The EOSHD guy?" So I'd look at the website and check the guy out. 16 pages of op eds, think pieces, comparisons, and advertisements for his products later, I'd find Andrew Reid's last actual review: part 1 of the GH5 review, with the promise of a part 2 that never materialized. No finished work shot with it, just some ungraded clips available for download. Posted August of last year. And many more pages until his next latest review. I would say "eh, this guy doesn't do much in the way of reviews, just camera news and coverage of the market," and pursue other media outlets.
Like... I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be rude or bite the hand that feeds us here, but Andrew used to make comprehensive reviews in a timely fashion with one or two accompanying pieces of work shot with the camera to showcase its abilities. I miss that Andrew Reid. His stuff was super helpful, and the type of work displayed gave me a sense of both the camera's intended use and Andrew's perspective as a user. These days, all I hear about is the tech side, and I don't always feel like I understand where Andrew is coming from as a writer. Independent filmmaker? Working DP? Camera technician? A colorist who likes to shoot sometimes? No judgement, but it's hard to understand his perspective on the cameras without also knowing what he looks for in one. From the outside, it just feels vague and inconsistent.
So yeah, despite EOSHD's history of praise for Blackmagic, I can't blame them for inviting more prolific gear reviewers to receive review models. Sorry.

"I didn't saw Roma" and I can't tell much by the trailer but it certainly doesn't look like one more marvel movie.
I understand your division between bad Hollywood and good Hollywood, but it's still Hollywood and it's still mainstream and profoundly ideological. Três amigos operate in Hollywood, money comes from Hollywood and the films they produce follow Hollywood classic models of storytelling. Yes, they are more inventive, than most of the other crap Hollywood produces, but I wouldn't call it disruptive, they don't add much to the medium itself. It's all a bit primary and basic, it lacks courage and poetry. The ideas are repetitive, and always placing the spectator in a passive point of view,  pleasing the spectator, because they have to sell. And it's alright as long as there is a place for the other side. For the one who is not looking to please you, the ones that don't want your emotional investment, who are willing to make you think instead of just convincing you. Having said that Hollywood it's a big industry and produces great movies and directors.
I agree with you that Cannes is an amusement park full of directors and producers looking for distributors and vice versa, most festivals are. And competition in cinema is something I can't really understand and find it profoundly perverse. But I think that Cannes was far more interesting this year than last year when it comes to new directors and showing very different movies from what is usually shown. and again it wasn't a Cannes decision but a matter of law. Actually, Cannes was trying everything to have Netflix movies at the festival.
There were at least Lars Von Trier movie and Spike Lee English spoken movies. But there were great movies far more inventive than any movie I've ever seen from Cuaron, Inarritu or Del Toro. Did you saw Diamantino that won la semaine de la critique or Chuva é cantoria na aldeia dos mortos or Lazzarro felice or Dogman or  Ayka or Une affair de famille? All great, and with a  different idea from what cinema can be or should be. I think it's at least refreshing to see these movies in a big festival. Hollywood tends to see cinema just as a medium to tell a story, but cinema can be much more than just this.

That's right! It's all about the money.
But if you had the possibility wouldn't you prefer to go to a movie theater?

My main work is based around film festivals and it always frustrates me when a movie shows somewhere and then I can't see it anywhere for months or even years, and it's in my industry. No hope for your average movie lover.
'Girl' is a Belgian movie, most likely their Oscar contender. I met and interviewed the director and lead actor in Cannes, but probably won't be able to see the film until at least February 2019, almost a year later. Same story with 'In The Fade'. Premiered in Berlin, I was there, spoke to Diane Kruger about it, but couldn't see it until it was released for home viewing over a year later. Partly my fault as I don't have time for the screenings at the festivals, but still, infuriating.
You're right, I forgot Blakkklansman was in the competition, my bad - I did say 'If memory serves' ?. Lars wasn't in the competition though, and his movie still got more attention than the films that were, which says something. FYI, Star Wars also played this year and 'Gilliam's 'Who Killed Don Quixote'.
In my opinion, Cannes is becoming less relevant for those kinds of films, and placed like Toronto, which doesn't have a competition, are getting bigger and bigger. Maybe it's about the timing, and studios release this time of year to kick off the awards run, making Cannes just too early for them? Maybe it's behind the scenes politics?

Here is Panasonic's UK HQ, and me second from right.

Panasonic do it right. A tech related feedback session and a friendly meet-up. No wining and dining PR stunts in gin bars.
    On the table is a pre-production GH5S.
Dave at Red Shark was also at the event and I met Holden, the main distributor for Blackmagic in the UK.
All of them friendly people. Receptive to technical collaboration and supportive of the blog.
All I expected from Blackmagic in the 5 months since NAB was a "hello".
The Manchester event would have been nice to go to. I have not even seen the Pocket 4K in person yet, and Blackmagic's Patrick in PR knows this full well.
John's response on here was COLD and dismissive. To him I'm just another idiot blogger. Just another blog. And you guys are just nerds to him, who cannot grade.
    I think it's disgraceful.

Was just thinking it would have been a lot nicer to get a reply like "hello Andrew. We appreciate your work...BMD is sorry for not inviting you to the meet-up in your home town". The end. In fact, would be your first "hello" to me in all 2 years you have been posting your Blackmagic propaganda on my forum.
    No empathy, and zero appreciation.
