Because Tilta bribed the Canon management, so they could sell this themselves:
    https://tilta.com/2020/07/tiltaing-camera-cage-for-canon-r5/

Adds extra bulk, would turn off many non-videographer buyers. Not everyone wants their camera to be as big as a S1H.

Haven't been following carefully the S1H AF performance, but I've been following all the G9 AF performance with the firmware updates it has good. Seems like the Panasonic G9 autofocus has got to a point I'd regard it as worth the extra money over a Panasonic G85 (but then again if I get the G85 cheap enough, I'd take it! Especially as I usually shoot with the SLR Magic 8mm f4 manual lens. Almost bought locally a G85 last night for NZ$600, but a friend beat me to it).

    110% yes!

Don't be like a wife in an abusive relationship who won't leave their husband who keeps on beating them every night.

    JUST. LEAVE!

    Quite Canon. Leave them behind.

Sony is kinda turning into "the new Canon".

While Panasonic has for years been delivering the goods, going way back to say a GH1 or even a DVX100!

And they've got great products all the way up to even the highest end with the Panasonic Varicam LT.

Either that, or support the new kids on the block: Blackmagic, Kinefinity, Z Cam.

I have great AF in the C200 but I almost never use it. I always feel like its going to miss the shot when it matters most.  For the locked off scenarios like you mentioned I just keep my aperture around 3.5 and stick to MF even with the C200.  I do truly wish I had AF for my gimbal work but I've gotten used to working with the GH5's limitations.

Sometimes i want to sell my S1H because of its AF that's not on par with the offeringd of the competition. But then I think about my needs and realize I don't shoot sports, i don't shoot fast action, i usually shoot interviews, corporate, docs, and i'd love to go more tow fictional kind of shoot (narrative).
And i tell myself why would I need another camera for those controlled environments i'm shooting in?
Panasonic bodies are so reliable, but hey they're not as trendy as all those cameras from Canon ans Sony that all the bloggers show.
That's a shame. The AF is a lame excuse to me. I rather have a reliable camera, a workhorse with not so good continuous af than an unreliable camera with fast blazing af.

    Buy an S1H.
It's actually a bummer to see so many youtubers/bloggers/influences/blah supporting Canon and Sony as they continue to under-deliver. And here is Panasonic, who for 4-5 years now has been on an absolute roll (GH5 > GH5s > EVA-1 > S1 > S1H), giving us super reliable products with the best IQ and specs on the market with things we ask for (dual XRL, timecode, video tools).
Please, everyone buy Panasonic. I don't want to use a Sony in the future. And while I love the C200/C300III/C500II, I don't want a mirrorless camera that craps out after a few minutes.

I have a shooting planned this weekend and maybe tuesday to try it out, really excited to see what I can do with this prores raw footage.
I watched some videos on YouTube to see what others come up with and I do find this video really beautiful (colors, cinematic image, dynamic range) :

    Cameras overheating is not new.

Canon hyping the shit out of the high end video capabilities then delivering a product that it overheats soo rapidly in those hyped high end modes and recovers soo slowly is unprecedented. The criticism of Canon is entirely valid.

I stumbled upon thins incredibly good video that truly highlights the S1H capability to produce gorgeous cinematic images when paired with good lenses and good operator skills :
Skin tones are very good, overall image shines in my opinion.

I paid around 2900 € for a brand new S1H. The 24-70 f2.8 S Pro I paid 1750€ brand new, with a promotional 500€ cashback from Panasonic France it cost me 1250 euros, so I paid half the price (the price of the Sigma 24-70 2.8 actually) !!
It's a little retailer in Paris that doubles as the official repair center for Panasonic and Tamron. Sometimes they have some brand new refurbished products. They resell them with 2 years warranty and a discount price.

These recent camera releases have resulted in a significant amount of velocity  and trolling right across the web.
Every camera is good these days. Every single one. Nor is a single one of them “underwhelming”, why has the bar suddenly been raised so high? Because Canon put 8k in a mirrorless?
The S1H, the A7SIII, the R5, the X-T4 all have a purpose to fit your needs. If you can’t shoot good footage with them, the issue isn’t the camera. If one of these does n’t fit your needs, buy something else.
I get excited about cameras, but they are just cameras. They are worthless without artists, documentary filmmakers, journalists, Youtubers.... the audience mostly doesn’t give a f**k what it was shot on - as long as it looks good, sounds good and provides value in form of information or entertainment.
That time arguing over cameras could be better spent on learning more about lighting, composition, sound or editing styles.
Sure, I did pre-order the R5 and cancelled it. Instead I’ve swapped it for 2 A7SIII’s because they fulfil a creative need. And it’s not the end of the world if it’s all just hype - the EVA1 and GH5 still exist and allow me to create on every shoot.
For the argumentative, trolls and naysayers, it’s time to get romantic about the craft again. Show us your work. Make more stuff. Have some fun. Create memories. And grow the hell up.

This camera is so underrated. Besides the continuous AF that's not as good as the competition it offers everything. Yeah the 4k60p is cropped... Of course it can not do 4k120p....
But it works. Never let you down, offers stellar image quality and really good color science, doubles as a professional photographic tool, has all the features for professional video (waveform, spot luminance for vlog, the choice to put your lens in linear or non linear focusing, and so on). It offers 6k and ProRes RAW. It's a workhorse.
    Very underrated.

I really don't think Panasonic is behind except for AF. They offer 6k,better ergonomics, ProRes RAW as well, better exposure tools, better weather sealing, better heat management, better reliability, the best screen implementation, better photography camera than the Sony a7sIII (at least a better resolution that's helpful for stills), really good color science, timecode, better IBIS, 4K DCI, anamorphic modes, etc.
I think it's on par with the Sony offering. What makes one stronger is a weakness for the other and vice versa.
People really tend to make Panasonic look worst than they actually are.

Definitely behind for me. Cropped 420 10 bit 4k 60p, poor quality 120-180fps HD.

The Sony delivers 4k at 24, 60, and 120p with no crop full sensor readout.

6k is cool and all but I honestly shoot in HD half the time and when I need more its 4k. 6K downsampled is beautiful of course but if it means no full sensor 4k 60p and shitty 120p than I'll pass. That is just me of course.

Fuji offers an incredible bang for its buck. Its AF needs major improvements though. I'd pay $2500 for an XH2 with a 12mp sensor and 4k 120p though. Especially if it has reliable AF.

The previous one couldnt even do 1080 100fps without a heavy crop. This one is doing 120fps at 4k with only slight crop. Plus it has AF, fully articulating screen and 10bit h265..... Some people are hard to please 😅

I feel your comments so much. I'm always looking for new technology that could help me when I shoot. I'm so into new gear, new releases, new AF tech, etc.
But after looking at all that I often take a step back, then open my eyes on what gear I have.
And when I look at the Panasonic S1H, i really feel that Panasonic was the only one to give us everything we wanted. A true professional workhorse. As i am writing this message i'm on my way home from 2 shooting days. The Panasonic never disappointed once. Not only in the last 2 days but since I've purchased it late February for a bargain price. I'm really happy with it, it has everything that I want although i'd love to have a better AF.
But as you said, once Panasonic releases its 3 f1. 8 primes by autumn, i will be all good.
I will buy another underappreciated camera to use those primes too : Sigma FP.
    It's basically a Blackmagic Pocket 4k FF.
    I'm so happy with my S1H! 👍🏽

I have long been waiting for a solid mirrorless release from Canon. And was hoping maybe Sony would get their act together with colors and IQ. Looks like neither will happen for another 3-4 years. The Sony A7sIII specs are pretty much perfect, IMO - focusing on great 4k and great frame rates and not worried about 6k and 8k. But from what footage I've seen, zombie skin tones seem to persist. And the R5, though tempting, just seems too unreliable.
So, after using Panasonic as my stopgap for almost 4 years now (GH5, S1, and now S1H), I think it's just time to admit that I'm a Panasonic Man. Once those f1.8 primes come out, Sigma releases more compact primes, and they release a smaller (500-600 gram) full-frame camera I can use for stills, then it will have everything I need.
Panasonic just makes the most reliable and robust cameras with all the specs you need and have leapfrogged Canon in color and IQ with the S1 and S1H. Sure, having great AF is helpful sometimes, but it has failed me enough with the C200 and EOS R that I would never trust it on a professional shoot.
Looking forward to just being happy with the S1H (especially now with 6k and 4k ProRes Raw!) for the next 2-3 years.

Seriously consider giving the 6K RAW a go.
Most ProRes RAW is pixel binned via HDMI (like Nikon Z6, Sigma Fp, GFX 100, etc.)
    But not this one.

From what I have seen you can pull back 3 stops overexposure without much problem. Expose for 18% grey and you have a lot of dynamic range, although noise in shadows so I guess overexposed a bit to kill the noise
