1. very nice price.. worth more someone needs to grab. will become even more useful in 3 months if the optics are clean. all you need is some broken isco parts like what eye got and you could bee a happy mini 2x iscorama bunny.
2. looking at the one listed it looks like mirrors this will need a heavier stop than 2 optics or a smaller sensor camera.
3. they did 2 types one using mirrors variation on the delrama. and another rarer one using 2 optics like yashica scope. both will be better than the delrama but maybe not as sharp as a yashica scope. stopping down iris will even the miss match out. it may need adjusting an easy job for some with delicate hands a disaster for someone with two club hands.
4. that is cheating f4... try it at f1.4 or even 0.95 : ) regardless of what john barlow says a simple locked off tripod test with camera taking lens wide open shows the improvements. of doublet close up over single element. reduced spot size on a doublet correcting light ray path giving more clarity to the image. in fact i just tested a +1 kinoptik doublet it destroys the single element angenieux. chester moore hall invented the doublet in 1740 the design has been copied ever since if it was not needed or if single element was so good then doublet designs would of died out long ago. doublets are the high end route. tiffen and schneider use single element window glass called white water not optical bk7 in the close up they make. they rely on people stopping down to improve performance. achromatics require higher end optical glass and quality spec and build.really stopping a bad optic down will cure most problems opening wide or one stop down from wide open shows the power of a good achromatic doublet design. optical law transcends vimeo pictures
5. i have one of these lens... any bond film using them the lens would not look llke this.. we are talking a 6000 dollar rebuild it is better built than a lomo the original designer was a super talented clever engineer. http://www.in70mm.com/newsletter/1999/57/jacobsen/index.htm like anything complex and old it needs to be stripped down and rebuilt to get the max out of it. it may work great but these ebay dealers are mostly scum every item i have ever purchased from them looked nice and was faulty and untested.
6. clueless nutters selling to rich madmen. part of the scum dealer mafia shipping gear by the truckload across europe for tax reasons. selling to buyers that i assume are using drugs cia money cos they will not be earning with this thing without a rebuild all of this stuff is untested a lot garbage buying 2 iscorama would be less trouble. if you find the anamorphic optics to soft it will have a very nice sharp zeiss lens inside.
7. hey zach a bit of advice next time can you shoot this properly... go to starbucks we donte need nose vacuum siphons, piston pumps, chemex x's all dat broke back san francisco stuff. gives us hetro human girl lovin cowboys a god damn proper starbucks coffee all horse and no chemex bull : )
8. darling deal with it the cia and al gore had steve jobs dosed with cancer just like chavez. apple headless rudderless. hey muchachas we donte needs no stinkin iphoney : ) my 26mm f1.1 macro switar is itchin to shoot some hot 1sec porn art action, just need the girls lube and the camera no lights needed amigo apart from some spill from my samsung phone.
9. eyes agree nikon are scum 200 dollars for this digital camera and they add insult to injury by only offering 1 .1 secs of filming. we need to boycott this evil empire. 200 bucks for a piece of plastic and they think they are cool by giving us a free lens with it. sugartown thank you for pointing the limitations out. you cool calm sanity has saved us blind sheep. i have just taken your advice and spent 400 dollars on an iphone can you send me the link for the 4k apple iphone app.
10. super duper work dere fella love it. the look is mighty fine : ) reminds me of the super 8 straight 8 competition 1 50 ft roll of super 8 film and you have to shoot a story with in camera edit. results are processed and you view results with an audience. a wonderful way to teach film technique i think. nikon have got burnt fingers from these cameras looks like another crippled beast in a small package.
11. that lens has been apart before spending ask the guy to test it on a camera it should be very sharp wide open. this seller should understand how to test an optic if he makes excuses or does not reply walk. it is a good but limited optic as it will have a below par entry level taking lens in the back. the anamorphic will be better quality than the taking lens it is a sealed fixed system you cannot use other optics with it. ask him to send you some jpeg shots taken wide open
12. what the camera or the shooter or the sensor? do asome tests yourself with the camera then contact kodak and ikonoscope. why watch a moving picture turd and use it as a reference. i doubt very much the issue is with the sensor this was used by nasa for quite a few years. it is not some bmc untested shit the sensor that is.
13. as the owner of 3 leicina specials, leica m5 and noctilux i am a leica fan boy the great thing about them is they are small compared to panasonic canon etc. they will be stung if people are vocal about defects in design.
they will be embarrassed about cameras costing a fraction of the cost doing video better. let us see proper tests not bullshit man grabbing his jacket leforet shit. this could easily be a camera mode or post import export issue. if the cameras video is a disaster leica will fix it. they chucked a few million at the sensor for the m9 and now chucked a lot more for this new sensor. i think they should of stayed with ccd myself fuck this cmos shit : ) they also should leave the flagship camera pure rangefinder and have a dedicated cine /stills with the smaller ccd sensor from the leica m8. that would be a low cost option as all the infrastructure is in place. leica have to listen to customers so contact them through the press dept give them both barrels the important thing is leica have live view in a product whatever happens if the video is bad or ok rejoice. as the shit song goes things can only get better. because leica cannot afford to be shit or 3rd division. it is up to people who shoot moving pictures to tell them what is wrong. in this regard sometimes 17 year olds have a better understanding of moving picture requirements than a magnum stills foto guy. tell them it is shit or it is great believe me it will get passed along to the proper people. if the criticism is valid
14. not really a pure ikonoskop example as stanley kubricks diffusion filters as used on barry lyndon where used. but a fine job by daft punk musician thomas bangalter http://vimeo.com/28717821
15. ccd lovely kodak ccd analogue beauty. give me a danish women refined firm yet soft in a goodly way. rough aussie with painted sharp visage like window sometimes likely to crack fine for a one night stand but give me ccd and danish for a week a month or year. ikonoskope showing a proper filmic heritage here. andrew sell your bmc and blag a deal from ikonoskop. iscorama and ikonoskop filum is needed : )
16. + never buy an optic based on a video or film clip it is bonkers. never believe a seller. collect information and base a purchase decision based on that. do not believe most bloggers most are paid hack sacks some talented many free loading opportunists looking for money and gear kickbacks. andrew who runs this site is one of the few you can trust as his passion outweighs financial gain. better to walk away from a sale than jump in with doubts. if your skint sankor 16d,16c 16f.. if you want a bit of 70s sweetness kowa bell howell,16h or 8z.. you mention bad opinions about kowa 16d bad opinions from who. no disrespect but probably idiots who have a bad old optic that has been taken apart. kowa made the 2nd most expensive anamorphic after iscorama.. kowa designers where fantastic technicians and japan had super high quality control standards. they simply cannot be blamed for 30 year old battered optics being sold on ebay with 0 care history over the period.
17. Mauri D.Galiano IS A DODGY THIEF A DISGRACE TO HIS COUNTRY NOT SO MUCH A DIRECTOR MORE A CHIMP WRANGLER AND OPPORTUNIST
18. nah mate.. that was a very nice lens and if i had of been around i would of snapped it for more money. made in japan in the 60s a little bigger than baby hypergonar, yashicascope style. slightly larger front and back optic chretien recipe. great potential if calibrated properly as good as any of the other baby lens. added advantage of focus adjustment. 1.5x compression another rebadge probably yashica again. not kowa as it is to light weight for kowa optics. as good as some of the best baby 8mm not in the same league as baby moller could get closer to baby hypergonar. all roads are heading towards a rare vintage bargain. the winner needs to treat gently as the focus is refined and quite dainty.
even if it is soft it is worth a repair, only attempt taking apart if you trust yourself these can be destroyed much easier than todays shit.
19. stan has a solution but not cheap. the same adapter as baby moller fits i here. seems to fit others as well.
20. it is made by yashica japan for a small company in europe. long ago. made for a 8mm camera a tiny gem called paillard bolex made in Sainte-Croix of swiss hue petit cinvision probably a few birthed and cherished from the outset. but that was so long ago before beatles or the floyd many died or vanished over the years some trashed and smashed some dumped some rotting in damp film camera box or draw most buried deep in cankered grim landfill hurrah one survived without the help of steve Mcqueen on triumph and made the great escape. some love and gentle polishing should be given for the long avoided vanished and anamorphically abused. three cheers for yashica scoping not quite a hypergonar but related with recipe created by a master chef called Henri Chretien
21. all in the +0.4 achromat.. the double element transforms the lens. single element is good but way inferior. it shows a bigger difference on the baby hypergonar than say the moller or the focus yashicascope..they can make uo some ground because the optics move. the hypergonar and the achromat are the perfect combo and sharpest result i think but others can tell me i am wrong : )
22. whoever got the baby hypergonar . stick the double element tokina on it the difference is huge over a single element close up...
23. why dispute even it is soft it is worth it worth at least 500 quid after a service. think you got a good deal ONLY IF IT HAS GLASS INSIDE mind : ) i purchased an isco 36 last year it the cylindricall optics missing so i purchased an unusable spherical optic an iscorama with zero anamorphic magic. the seller said it was working perfect when he shipped it : )
24. a lot of these where made buy yashica. yashica ones used sharp nice quality optical glass. many of the sankyoscope style ones used mirror prism. so this lens has great potential if it has not been messed with. even so worth spending time sorting as anyone that knows of the history of yashica will know that they where a mighty fine camera and optics firm. can be a gamble but it can pay off sometimes as well. shiga scope stuff was really rare as it was mainly hand made. this is not shiga
