It was all over my channels, plus I knew it was coming.
I was surprised at the price…
I didn’t think it would be 500 less but the same, trading larger sensor for speed.
However, it is substantially less at sub 2k and as 3x bodies cost basically the same as 1x Z9 body, it has me thinking…
In short it ticks every single box for me with only one niggle and one question.
The Niggle: Side-hinge flip screen. I would prefer a tilt. Not a deal-breaker but wish they had kept the same format as the XH1 I had and loved as I do that of my current S1H.
The Question: I read or heard (probably misheard) that the 4K 50/60p is cropped but since I have checked and not found any evidence that is the case? Ie, it is a cropped sensor so compared to a full frame sensor there is a 1.5x crop for stills and video but unlike the R7, please tell me there is no additional crop on top of that because that would be a dealbreaker.
Why? One of my criteria switching systems is parity between stills and video because it does my but a not having full frame stills and 1.5 crop on my Panasonic’s.

That camera is way out of what I could pay. And I really never buy a new camera, that way I can sell it say 6 months later for nearly what I paid for it. Plus, it doesn't have an EVF. In the day time the LCD screens suck ass and I can't see them too well at my age either.
But that might not be a problem for you. To me stuff that cost that much needs to earn the money back. I don't do anything for money cameras wise anymore so...

The Vast majority of people using a Fuji camera are using it in photo mode. Why would you want the added cost and bulk for that purpose.
The bulk of all video for normal people come from Smartphones. It is only weird people like us that shoot video on a camera..

So, unless you are trying to shoot video of the moon the video portion is pretty useless if true. Ah good old Canon, never changes.

Whatever they do, people will complain. If they did what you suggest, like with the Micro, a lot of people would complain about having to rig it up because 'it doesn't even have a monitor!?!'.
So, instead they put the screen on, a nice big one and people complain that it doesn't tilt, or it's not bright enough. So they make it brighter, and tiltable. But now, people want them to take it off completely?
Eventually, the only way to make people happy is to sell cameras in the way Apple sell their laptops. You choose from a selection of sensors, mounts, body shapes, screen sizes, media types, audio inputs, battery types etc. Then customer can mix and match to make the camera they want.
Although, even then, people will complain because the HDMI socket can only go on one side of the body, and I'm left handed, so it's a bit annoying.

TC very useful for particular productions can not be argued, but a linchpin in Netflix approval feels narrow minded.  Not every production should have its value rest on TC input..  🙄🙄

If someone wanted something smaller than an Alexa, cheap enough to crash and better image quality than a gopro then they could have just bought a BMPCC or BMMCC.
Sounds like they set out to build a camera for a specific task without first phoning up the camera store to see if one existed already.

MFT is a great format indeed. When I mean dismiss any of them, I meant to ignore either of both actually. You can surely skip one of those if you have the other one, of course : ) But this camera series is a dream come true, my fav acquisition system ever designed, produced and delivered to my book : -)
Mainly shot on P6K, here's a trailer of a feature film co-produced by me currently @ post production:

Nice shots you did mercer, especially kaylee - I really like the Ansel Adams feel to it.
Here are my shots with b/w in it w/ BMPCC - Sigma 19mm and Cosmicar 25mm lenses.  I've always wanted to do monochrome stuff.  They're so nostalgic.

Nice. I find that the 12bit is quite a big step up from the internal 8bit if you raise the shadows. More dynamic range.
But for the uncompressed 4:4:4 look, with no big exposure changes in post (got it right in cam and lit it right), the internal 4K 8bit looks amazing and as good as 12bit.

im close to puling the pin  on a speed booster originally i was going to buy one to fit the tokina 28-70 in nikon mount. but thinking about it further im probably better of getting one in ef mount. that way pretty much everything can be adapted via the ef mount. At the moment i have 7 pentax m42 and the tokina. So is there any flaws in my plan

    This is dope.
However, I think this is way too soon and I worry that they could make the 4k obsolete  very soon. Even though I haven't owned it longer than 7 months. Is this the pattern they are rolling with. They are knocking cameras out way too soon for my liking. Bare in mind the 4k was suppose to be future proof.
Anyhoo looking at the image I cant really see a significant improvement. I have fallen in love with the 4K and I think it's a gem as long as you shoot within it's sweet spot.
Personally this is meh. I can't see the appeal for an upgrade but having an EF MOUNT is very ideal .

Amazingly enough whether you believe it or not every state is really different, even laws wise in the USA. Different economy's, different language, different crops, mindset even. I live in what they call the Tri County Area. Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky is all within 40 miles of each where I live, Indiana is only 5 miles from me. And they are are all day and night different dialect, economy, outlook, education wise, even disposition wise. Not one state is the same. Amazing difference from some. None alike money wise. From filthy rich to filthy poor. Ohio is a Industrial state, Indiana , Kentucky is a farming state. Kentucky a lot poorer over all than the others  near me. It is what is is, And I love all of them. All are beautiful. on their own merits. I think Kentucky is one of the most beautiful states of them all to be honest.

I'm very torn about this update because on one hand I think the m4/3 mount is the most flexible option in terms of lensing plus with the different flavours of speedbosters available you can get much closer to full frame than Super35 if needed. On the other hand 6K for 4K delivery has the potential to deliver a great image and will probably completely solve the only issue I have with the camera which is the presence of aliasing/moirè in highly detailed scenes. (it's got substantially better with BRAW but it's still there unfortunately).
    Decisions, decisions! ?
