Compact Anamorphic for BMPCC

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have a BMPCC with a set of very small and nice Switar lenses and i am loving this compact setup. .

Now i am looking for an anamorphic adapter.or lens that has some characteristics that allow me to keep things small and manageable,:

1. Small - dont want a lens support or something bulky.

2. Focus Through - I am tired of double focusing.:)

3. 1.5x or 2x, i love oval bokeh.

Is there such a thing? The iscorama 36 maybe?

I also enjoyed the tiny Hypergonar but it has it's quirks: At first you need DIY mounting and filterthread solution (there is non)

And you definitely need diopters for sharp image. Maybe you can ask the Van Diemen "rehouser" for a special edition ;)

It is also rather expensive...

In my eyes the small Moeller has the advantage: Very appealing super sharp image, no diopters. Mounting is easy with Redstans clamp.

The dual focus on the Moeller is also a piece of cake. You can even manage focuspulling with some practice.

For me that small Moeller is better than my Iscoramas :)

I'm using my Isco Wide-Screen 2000 with my pocket on either the Nikkor 24mm or Mir-24m (it seems to like lenses that can close focus for best focus through results).

However, once i've got the back clamp, front filter adapter & diopter/s on it becomes less & less compact, but no lens support!

So Baby Hypergonar it is really & its hefty price tag.

dare I say it, a century / optex + tokina +0.4 could be the most cost effective answer.  it's actually very good on the smaller sensor and the tokina allows focus from 30cm to infinity without ever needing to take the thing off.  again, gonna need some type of support.  - the weight will mean your taking lenses will be under a lot of stress.  i'd be inclined to buy one and 3d print a lightweight body for the elements to cut down some weight

edit: bokeh wont fulfil your requirements tho.

I like the suggestion of the widescreen 2000.  Also, there is a centascope for sale I saw.  Hans_Punk has experience with this lens and I belive it could be the answer - very lightweight indeed.

I single-handedly shot an entire narrative short film during the first lockdown, using the original BMPCC. The camera performed magnificently but I did have it fully rigged out. Shot using two SLR Magic primes - 10mm T2.1 and the 17mm T1.6. A one-person crew and one-mother cast, this is a film featuring my poor mum, who’s never acted, and a very, very unlikely hero…

Jean-Luc Godard once said “All you need for a movie is a gun and a girl.” My mum doesn’t speak very good English, so I had to do without dialogue. I didn’t have a gun so we had to do without that too. We couldn’t leave the house, so I shot it all there. And I had no crew to help me, so I did everything myself.
If anyone has any feedback or questions I'm always happy to hear!

Like new BMPCC 4K with Metabones EF-MFT ULTRA .71x Speedbooster.
Originally purchased new in early 2019.
Only very minor cosmetic dings on the top of the camera body. Everything works perfectly. Only used professionally a handful of times.

For sale a rare 1937 Leitz Hektor Rapid 27mm f1.4 cinema lens (s/n 417161) for the Bolex H16 cinema camera. The lens covers full m43 sensor with a little vignetting and soft corners, great for cropped sensor of BMPCC, BMMCC, BMPCC4K (S16 mode). Examples of photos taken on a Lumix GX800 camera.
The condition for its age is excellent: the case is clean with little signs of use, there are some dust and a bubble inside (this is typical of pre-war Leitz lenses), I did not notice the effect on the picture. The lens has been professionally serviced. A complete disassembly, cleaning and lubrication was carried out. The focus and aperture rings spin smoothly and effortlessly. The diaphragm is clean, 10 blades. The kit includes the original hood, front cap and c-mount adapter - m43 (MFT) with rear cap. There is focus on infinity. I will send the lens by mail worldwide.
I shot this video with this lens Leitz Hektor Rapid 2.7cm f/1.4 on a Lumix GX800 camera: https://youtu.be/uIRKYGp6tg8

Hey all, I'm looking to shoot a narrative short film with controlled lighting early next year and am thinking about shooting it on my original BMPCC...
I know, I know. No 4K, terrible low-light, and horrible battery life. But if 1080p was fine, controlled lighting throughout, and an external battery solution, is it better for me to use the original and cancel my 4K pre-order? I could use the money saved to pay for an additional cine prime/actually pay actors a decent wage...
What would be the advantages in this case of using the 4K over the original?
