Nothing special about it, people tend to thing singlets are awful, but they're not. They're not as great as an achromat, but that's pretty much it. Unless we're talking about $5 kits, from china. These might be bad, at the edges mostly.

Here's a list I made a while ago https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cEzX4hb0NKbhPetTkVsnORNHeGnji7lhB4OmuCdQC-g/edit?usp=docslist_api I just picked up a "For Super-Multi-Coated (S-M-C) Takumar-Zoom 85-210mm F4.5" diopter off this list. Doesn't seem to be an achromat and I don't think it's a +0.25. Looks to be more in the +0.3 or +0.4 range, but it was pretty soft compared to the +0.33 Minolta. The 0.33 Minolta is nice, achromat also (at least, if it's the one for the 100-500mm zoom). Tito uses it regularly in his videos. I have the 67mm diopter from Asahi Pentax and measured it...indeed 0.33 also. If you want to know precisely how strong your Pentax diopter is, focus on infinity with the diopter attached. Measure the distance from sensor to the focus plane. Diopter strength = 1/(max focus distance in meters). Oh, if you do, let us know, I'll update the list :-) Cheers. Tito Ferradans
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/-/262472728143 I'm selling an adapted 72mm +0.5 Tamron. I shot a tutorial about how to do it, but I have zero need to keep this filter so it's going away. I can give you a discount if we bypass ebay. Send me a message. Keep an eye on my youtube channel ( www.youtube.com/tferradans ) as I'll teach cheap diopter tricks over the next two weeks! just did some tests and a 82mm diopter would work, but a 77mm is too small and causes too much vignetting on 50mm even only using 4:3 area of a super 35 sensor still looking for a good close up lens recommendation

I'll do some more precise tests after it arrives. I've accumulated quite a few diopters now and I want to test them all at the same time. There are few good comparisons on actual image quality between diopters. On a side note, can I ask where you found the close up for the 3.5/85-210? The actual zoom and it's accessorries (including the close up) are quite rare (in contrast to the f4.5 version). Evan Burns
Evan Burns
I got it off eBay. It wasn't listed for very long though. Just a lucky find. I've seen quite a few of the f4.5 versions as well.
AaronChicago
I have a question regarding diopters for the Slr Magic Anamorphot 2x. I noticed that the 1.33 includes 2 diopters but the 2x does not. I can't find any examples with the 2x using diopters. Are they necessary for semi close up? I'm shooting with it in a couple of weeks and want to make sure I have all options covered. Thanks. Tito Ferradans
The 1.33 doesn't come with the diopters. They're usually sold together, but it's not mandatory. As for the 2x, you can see its performance with the close ups in my review - http://tferradans.com/blog/?p=8331. I'd STRONGLY recommend having diopters for proper results using the Anamorphot 2.0x Andrew Chan, from SLR Magic, recommended testing another 85mm with the 2x anamorphot, since the Jupiter 9 gave weird results, but I haven't had time to do that yet. Evan Burns
I just picked up one of these, so I don't need another one, but it looks like a different seller has one up for sale. https://www.ebay.com/itm/262507029360
IshootbeforeItalk
Can you stack a variable ND filter in front of a diopter? Or does that cause vignette? I have a Kowa 16H (50mm zeiss + speedbooster).

Brian Caldwell
I'm thinking about manufacturing some 114mm clamp-on (fast on-and-off) achromatic diopters for the wide-angle anamorphic attachment I'm developing. Similar to the now-extinct Zeiss Master Diopters. Also similar to the Leica Macrolux, except larger and less expensive. Aside from being useful accessories for my anamorphic attachment, would these be of more general interest to readers here? Thinking about +0.4D, +1.0D and +2.0D . Tito Ferradans
UPDATE: I read it wrong. this is for the f/4.5 version of the 85-210mm, not the f/3.5, as I thought.
