Part of me wishes somebody would just gobble up Panasonic, Sony and Blackmagic so we could have the perfect camera:
Panasonic's body, battery life and ergos (don't forget flippy screen!)
Sony's AutoFocus
Blackmagic's color science

Alrighty.. I'll say it only because I know someone else will...
Come on Panasonic, you have the words 'De-Focus' in the name!
-
Bigger question for me is how DJI will do in the action cam market when the leader is having great difficulty already.

never had gpu errors. how did you get them ?
had a couple of crashes though
Oh my god, all the time with the previous versions usually on the Color screen, applying LUTs, pressing the Auto Color button, moving around nodes. Both on my laptop and my desktop.
-
This version seems more stable with less GPU errors. So far, so good.

Yeah Panasonic screwed up by not making the body bigger to accommodate IBIS in the GH5S. You can't charge more and take something away. That's Canon's game.

They’re a company. Usually shoot with big team but this one they tried to keep it small. Newway12 posted BTS
Ok cool. Thanks for the post.
It looks like they're filming in National Forest so I wasn't sure if you just get permits for that or what. That 'competing' crew looks like they had one.
When dudes post videos from certain locations, I always wonder about the permitting process. Sorry, if thread jack...
-
That John Snow Wick is awesome! Do those corridor guys just go out and start filming in the forest like that or is there a whole film permitting process?
-
First time I've seen that sample video and honestly, not that great.
But it has a flippy screen so you know.. Worth at least 1.5 stops Dr..
-
So many questions still.. what about the autofocus? As mentioned, maybe it'll be a big surprise that they secretly rolled out PDAF? Wouldn't it be amazing if it ends up being Quadruple Pixel AF?
-
After this, the A7SIII better have a flippy/flip-like screen!

The flippy screen situation has sold me. I need a $4000 Vlogging camera in my life.

BTW, while we're on the topic, where do you guys sell your used filters? I have a few Tiffens, Hoyas and SLR Magic VNDs that aren't being used. I wasn't sure if there's a market for them?
-
I think you should try the SLR Magic VND. It maintains decent sharpness and only a slightly warm color cast, which can be corrected if you put their Image Enhancer in front of it.

Dude in the video says Osmo has more DR but if you look at the side-by-sides and the clouds, he's clearly wrong. Haha.

Now that the release has come and gone and most folks are underwhelmed, I think it's time for Sony to get going on their FDR X3000 successor before the Hero 8 comes out in September.

Where?
Also, I hope GoPro and DJI switch to the 48mpx sensor for even better EIS (you are not getting true 4K with EIS from the cropped 12mpx sensor). Osmo Pocket is still a more versatile film-making tool unless you need to go near or under water.

Sorry, looks like it's expired. It's a start though.

Yeah ,for sure, I can see someone handhold the thing with just a lens, mic and SD/CFAST. It's kind of hard to do that for long with that small battery and non-articulating display though.
