Histogram usually does a good job. Otherwise expose for the subject you want to be the highlight of the frame. Check how much you can underexpose and bring up in post to give you a better idea of how to expose a subject.

Yeah but he doesn't claim it offers an entire stop more. People generally prefer Log for delivery so I almost always shoot log or Eterna. Might shoot HLG once I get the S1 as maybe they'll match better than the logs from either camera.

I think a lot of people would go for Sony for the great auto focus, plus a lot of people already have sony glass.

I don't know, I feel like 10 bit isn't a must have for most people. I think 4k 60p no crop with Sony's latest AF would make it the number one camera. Get rid of overheating and have a Venice color option and they are pretty golden. 10 bit out would be cool too.

C100 MK2 plus the 5D mkIV is a good setup -
That was awesome and informative as well! Which camera was the nicest to work with in post?

I saw that, really looks stunning

So nice!

I've seen androidlads comparisons and thats good enough for me

I doubt its a stop better.

The S1H does seem like a hell of a good package. $4000 is a lot but not relative to what it offers I think the S1 is a heck of a good deal at under $2000 used, I'll most likely pick one up asap. Even without VLOG, Cinema 5D measured HLG a whole stop better than my XT3's Flog, which already is pretty good. I'll just throw on my vintage nikon lenses and call it a day. What would be really cool is if someone makes a focal reducer and I can use medium format lenses.

Camera resolution vs codec resolution vs lens resolution

I only usually notice a difference when cropping in on an image a lot. I imagine I'd also notice on an absurdly big monitor close up. Beautiful model btw -
Yeah it can fall under research haha

I agree, I also have both the XT3 and XT30. I am not a fan of Sony's move and of course its a money decision. Sony can afford to gimp their cameras because they are so popular at this point in comparison to Fuji. That said Sony did make a lot of good improvements. Their new line of APSC cameras are definitely ready to do almost anything you need. Though the lack of a good 1080 60p is really crippling. I know they could remedy this without changing the sensor. The XT2 had pretty much the same sensor yet the 1080p was great.

I am sure it was a cost thing, however I'd easily pay $100 more for a tilt screen. Probably going to get a Pana S1 over the P6K or P4K though.
-
Thats what the S1H will be for, albeit probably more expensive

Considering picking up one of these bad boys. However the question is has anyone tested the record limit. I saw a few reports that people were actually getting 80-100 minutes. That would be amazing if true. Otherwise I may be going back to the GH5.
-
I'd take the S1 over the GH5S sensor, already has IBIS, just need eND. For me to go M43 I want to see 4k 120p as well as IBIS, good auto focus, and hopefully eND.

Canon removing 24p from new 4K mirrorless cameras - THE MEMES
thebrothersthre3 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The only thing holding me back from the R is the rolling shutter. Record limits suck of course as well but Fuji has that too. -
Wasn't really going for realism
-
Bit easier to stay in focus.

Yeah the things missing from the cameras out these days are either auto focus or unlimited recording/no overheating. I'd actually get an A6400 in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the terrible terrible rolling shutter. Great auto focus, no record limit, no overheating. Using the XT30 today I was getting a lot of overheating. The 18-55 works great though, just need human detection on the next fuji model, swipe that record limit, and we have a winner.
