This is a really good idea. The forum software doesn't have a Ghost feature but it should have it.
I had to ban him in the end. Too much BLAH BLAH.

On the subject of adapters, the PL adapter is out already before the camera has shipped. I expect an EF adapter to follow just as quickly from China

No. I ban people when they are a pain in the fucking arse.

Nikon Z looks the best out of the new offerings to me. I think the lenses are perfect too.
The faster primes will be 2000$ or more I bet. How is it good to launch with lenses costing more than two grand?
F1.8 is fast enough. More importantly it keeps the lens somewhat small.
As usual it seems many lust for bragging rights rather than practicality.

It's time we also held the so-called reviewers responsible for driving the hype-train for handicapped technology for the sake of their pennies in affiliate links. Calling these things "reviews" is fake news. When you're flown out and dined in Hawaii it's not a review, it's a rim job.

3 vs 4 lenses really isn't a wide gap, especially when 2 are going to be incredibly expensive. The 28-70 will likely be $2500+ and the 50/1.2 will probably be close to $2k. We'll see if they announce a roadmap. Nikon has the zoom trinity coming by the end of next year. Its not about where they are now, its where they will be in 2-3 years once the system is more rounded and gen-2 bodies come out. Canon has a long way to just catch Nikon, much less Sony. The first R is incredibly underwhelming, even for Canon apologists.

Indeed. Imagine the uproar if Canon's first full frame mirrorless camera had a limitation where it could only shoot APS-C stills.
But video users are expected to put up with it "because.... S35".
    Bullshit.
I won't be buying it if it is cropped. Doesn't matter if 1.5x crop, 1.6x crop, 1.75x crop, people can argue amongst themselves about that all day.
I will simply take my money off to Panasonic, Sony and Nikon, and call it a day.
No point having such a nice lens as a 28-70mm F2.0 if I can't make proper use of it in 4K.

So, beyond all the Chicken Little reactions and  a subpar press release from Nikon (creating a crazy echo chamber of negativity), what I'm seeing is:
-A well respected manufacturer with good qc and customer service
-Small mirrorless body with adaptable mount
-Full frame 24mp with clean 4K
    -10-bit HDMI out
-Flat and Log profiles (basically the Nikon equivalent of CLog1 and CLog 3)
-A few essential lenses, with every logical core option already roadmapped
-IBIS that, by all accounts, bests Sony's
-Great battery life (more than 2 hours of straight 4K)
-Solid ergos, on par with other mirrorless manufacturers
-Natural color science without any major problems (blue channel clipping, greenish skin, greens shifting towards blue, magenta cast, etc)
-Integration with Atomos recorders for easy on set workflow
All baggage, brand politics, and bad press strategy aside, it ticks a LOT of boxes for me. Gonna be looking hard at the Z6 when it drops.

Speaking as someone who’s a long time user of the Olympus 4/3 (anyone remember that format??) and then micro 4/3 format.
I own many 4/3 and m4/3 lenses from Olympus, Panasonic and others (Veydra, SLR Magic, Voigtlander)
Generally speaking Olympus m4/3 lenses are better corrected optically. Panny tend to rely more heavily on in-camera / post correction.
Olympus also OEM many lenses for others. You’d be surprised what major brands have lenses that are made by Olympus. Optics have always been their primary strength. (They are absolute leaders in other fields like medical where they have near monolopoly market share of endoscopes etc).
Olympus are a really interesting company, very innovative. They were the first to do live view in a stills camera. First to have an ultrasonic cleaning of the sensor. And of course their IBIS has always been the best along with weatherproofing.
In the past few years I have been consulting with Olympus on improving their product and features to appeal to more cinematographers. These things typically take time to filter though their product development cycle.
The Pro primes are actually beautiful lenses. And they’re great for cinematography.  Hard stops on focus for example.  BMD asked me to shoot with the Olympus primes to show what could be done with inexpensive native 4/3 lenses and they do not disappoint.

I don't disagree with the fact that smaller sensors require far better glass in order to get similar performance to larger sensors.
But the differences that are visible in that test are mostly due to perspective and not distortion, which is really a problem when shooting architecture (both stills & video).
In any case, I believe the m4/3 still has its place. Small cameras such as the E-M5ii or the PenF coupled with tiny lenses such as the 17/1.8 and 45/1.8 are a joy to carry around your neck and shoot all day long. Something that even the A7rIII & the 35/2.8 cannot really achieve. If on the other hand you are after image quality or shallow DoF, then instead of start buying expensive & large glass for m4/3, my opinion is that a FF camera will offer a much better solution for the same price/size/weight.
Thats why I wish Olympus & Panasonic really put an effort to keep their systems small enough but pleasurable to shoot with. For example I would really love a PenF or a GX9 with a state of the art HUGE EVF that I would want to use instead of using subpar components like the GX9 did in order to save costs  ( I would also remove at least half the buttons from these cameras  ).

I have used a lot of standard lenses too. I'm not bashing standard lenses. I'm sure the Sony standards are nice. What I am saying is that people forget that the 135 format lenses of the same class as for example the Olympus Pro are often more expensive. The Nikon 58mm 1.4 or Zeiss Otus comes to mind. These are no compromise lenses, much like the mentioned Olympus lens. (no holds barred, heavy, large and costly). To get this kind of no compromise lens is typically cheaper the smaller the format. As it should be.

See my previous reply. The Nikon 58mm 1.4G is 1600$. The top quality Sony primes are around 1500$. The top end lenses for smaller sensors are typically less costly. Nothing weird with this. I worked with 120 for many years and those lenses are more expensive. Then we have large format lenses and so on. Step up in film size and costs, weight, et c increases.
There is more to cameras and lenses than "equivalence". I may be old school but to me how a system feels to work with is the most important.

I beg to disagree.. while every camera will handle things differently, the XT2 is the first camera that consistently nails just about any artificial/mixed lighting i've thrown at it.. inversely, Sony's tend to always have this ugly yellow cast (A7S was greenish) that requires fixing in post. it's no secret and as you know Andrew has made extensive examples displaying zombie skin tones and such in his EOS profile promos.. i don't know another camera brand with such wacked out SOOC color science..

So two ergonomic complaints, a complaint about the buffer and a complaint about low light performance.
Yes, the dedicated ISO button is on the far left shoulder of the camera. But as he points out himself in the video, you can change ISO directly with the jog dial on the right - easy as pie. Or you can press Fn and use the thumb dials, if you're scared of accidentally moving the jog dial at some point. So the whole criticism is moot and he makes it moot himself. It's more of a handling tip than a complaint, then? But in the clickbait headline it's a PROBLEM.
The other complaint is that the screen flips out, rather than be fully articulated like on the GH5. But the Sony screens do that as well, don't they, and he raves about them.
The buffer section of the video I skipped... Can't comment. Not related to video whatsoever.
The 4K video performance in low light... Well, this was before the high bitrate hack and NX-L adapter So I'll give him that. No, it isn't an A7S and never will be, but ISO 800 is cleaner than the GH4... Virtually noiseless... And that, at F1.0 on the NX-L, is not what I call "bad low light performance"

i kindly suggest to jonpais not to get so personally affected by GH5 criticism.. let's face it the camera jus isn't as unanimous as it was a year half ago. times gonna change. that being said no need to feel threatened if you're still enjoying its output..

This camera is crazy insane, and also it’s freaking 1400dollars with tax!!! Like what stuff do you guys even shot?!
