    @mercer fun fun fun!

I took analog photography in highschool and have enjoyed the process ever since. I started on the Olympus Trip 35 and still mostly use that one even though I've got more advanced SLRs today. These old selenium light metered point-and-shoots are just too much fun. I just use the 4 focus zones; one guy, two guys, three guys and mountain. I guess the technical terms are; headshot (1m/3'), twoshot (1.5m/5'), group shot (3m/10') and infinity. 🤷‍♂️
If I need to, I snap out of automatic iris and shoot aperture priority. As far as I know, the camera choses either a 1/40 or 1/200 shutter. Limiting, but fun and simple.
I almost exclusively shoot B&W, that is enough colors for me.  I've been mostly using Kodak TMAX 400, although I prefer Tri-X. Ilford Delta or HP5 are solid, cheaper options. All readily available, at least where I am at. And if u ever use filmstock emulations on your digital footage, why not try out your favorite on analog? 🙂

I develop at home, with a Paterson Changing Bag and Developer Tank. I either use Kodak D-76 or Cinestill DF96 Monobath, the latter which is one bath for both developing and fix, although because of the grain structure, TMAX film needs double the bath time in that chemical.

I use an Epson V600 flatbed scanner. If I had the space for a dark room I'd probably enlarge as well.

I'll provide some samples from Kodak TMAX 400 in the Olympus Trip 35. Scratches and dust included.

I shot a short film yesterday and used the Canon 35mm f/2 for a few shots. What a great utility prime with IS. Here are a few shots with a quick LUT thrown on. The film may end up being in B&W.

Some Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 M mount stuff on the Sigma fp from a recent trip to the frozen-ish north to see the in laws.
The vignette and slight softness when shooting wide open makes it quite suitable for festive stuff !
Didn't shoot RAW so these are grabs from 4K all-i mov files.

Yesterday I unexpectedly shot quite a bit with my FP and 5inch Video Assist. Man, what a combo! It's so small, and lightweight. The person I was filming told me half the time, he didn't even notice I was rolling, and of course when I put it next to my Pocket4k footage, it grades exactly the same, or possibly better. Very easy to match.
I was thinking of selling the FP, because for the types of things I shoot, cDNG is just not viable (longform interviews). But then a deal for the VA12g came up, and I thought it'd give it a try. Now I'm completely sold. With this setup, I've turned a great camera that's was no fun for me to use, into a very fun, take anywhere cine-cam.
My shoot yesterday was very unexpected, but I happened to have the camera in my satchel with a 28mm f2.8 FD lens. It was a dream setup, that I'm basically going to take everywhere from now on.

It uses a 3M type of peel off strong sticker.
The beauty of the magnetic one is that it (intentionally obviously !) breaks away from the camera if it takes a knock so whatever is attached to the filter part will suffer rather than the camera.
In hindsight though, I think the alternative one that just provides the screw thread might have been a better idea (I have a similar one on the RX100) as the ND will more or less be a permanent fixture.
This video gives a good overview comparison of fitting and using both

I've noticed that a lot of the non-photo/video channel stuff I watch on YouTube are using these now and in the main their output looks a lot better.
Of course when you finally relent and get your Sigma FP, the Fotodiox EF-L AF adapter with internal variable ND will be waiting for you to roll your own full frame RAW shooting version of the FZ2500 😉
With it supporting IS lenses, it also mitigates the lack of IBIS in the camera and the EF mount is obviously a gateway to putting your F mount or CY mount or R mount etc lenses on it and still having the benefit of the variable ND for all of them.

@Matt Kieley I haven't used that kind of follow focus with the FDn lenses, but I did use one of those that use a timing belt (pic related):

I used it with the 28, 35 and 50 mm FDn and never had a problem. I even think my 50mm might've had a tad bit more resistance in the focus ring and the only slipping problem I had was if I didn't tighten the actual follow focus down on the rod enough. The timing belt would fit perfectly onto the already existing rubber grips on the FDn lenses.

I've also seen arguments about the older breach lock FD lenses being more fit for video but to be honest I think that just comes down to the asphericals being closely related to the K35's. Perhaps the metal build of the older lenses could play a role but to be honest I prefer the quality plastic of the FDn lenses any day (if you drop a FDn on the ground it will survive, but if you drop the old versions you will never be able to fit a lens filter on it again).

Thanks for the reply! These look great and are perfect examples of what I am looking to photograph.
    I just love B&W.
The Trip 35 was recommended to me but there aren't many for sale in the US.
The Fujica is a zone focus camera as well. Blind focus is a little daunting but it seems pretty straightforward. I also bought a Canonet 28 that has a brilliant little rangefinder patch, so I have options. But the light seals need replacing and I'm waiting on a battery adapter. I'd like to find a selenium metered rangefinder, but the "better" rangefinders seem to have been made in the 70s when selenium was abandoned for battery-powered, cds meters.
I have a few rolls of Kodak Gold color film and T-Max 100. I probably should have bought more Fomapan to start out with but it doesn't matter much.
I love the Acros simulation, so I have a couple rolls in my cart.
Summer has been kinda hectic, so I spent more time researching everything and collecting a couple cameras to get a feel for what I do and don't like. In a couple weeks I'll have more time to go out and shoot some stuff and then I'll sort out the processing.
I'd love to process my own footage but I don't have the space to do it and my GF has some pretty severe allergies, so I couldn't use the chemicals. Caffenol interests me, but I can't afford a scanner right now, so I'll just send the film out for the time being. And for now, I want the process to be as simple as possible. If I could get decent scans from the local pharmacy, I would probably just do that.

With so few opportunities to shoot video, I decided it was time to mess around with stills to keep me sane. Well, I enjoy a little bit of crazy, so I decided to start shooting film. I've never been a stills shooter, so I decided to look at some old film cameras.
After some research, I'm really drawn to the 60s/70s fixed lens rangefinders and half frame cameras. So, I threw an offer on a Fujica Half, half frame camera. The seller didn't offer a lot of information, but I figured it was worth a shot.
They accepted the $25 offer and it arrived yesterday and I was thrilled to find out it's in near mint condition and the old selenium light meter seems to function perfectly...

Does anyone else shoot film? If so, what are your favorite cameras and film stocks?

The Sigma fp series of cameras are very capable. I’m actually thrilled that I’m able to produce expensive images on a budget. This allows me to build out the accessories needed to run a smoother production. Here are some unprocessed screen grabs of a project I’m working on. I’ll be also using these cameras to film a series based on a popular subject within the Hip Hop industry.

Also here’s a link of a comedy skit I filmed for an extremely known TikTok personality who is trying to build up her YouTube channel.

I don’t  follow the popular camera trends and what’s hot, hence my name here AltShoo which is an abbreviated form of Alternative Shooter. This is why I use the JVC-GYLS300 and even though the next camera I’m mentioning  is the most “popular” camera in my arsenal, it’s still not a trendy tool, I own an EVA1.

I wish I could use a card writer because I have a bunch of high speed CF cards.
With that said, what's the smallest SSD you've tested with it? I noticed SmallRig or Tilta has some new handles that have a space for the SSD built into the handle and one that has SSD and a battery with a record button. It seems pretty slick.
On another note, I wish Sigma had chosen a different mount. I understand about their alliance with Panny and Leica, and although Sigma is starting to release some smaller lenses, there aren't enough native lens options to get me excited. More than likely I'd adapt lenses, but then the added size of the adapter/lens dwarfs the camera. I guess m-mount lenses are good options, especially considering the 7artisans/ttartisans options that are being released... like that lovely 28mm 1.4 you have.
Speaking of... I found this video on Vimeo of the FP/28mm 1.4 combo...

Hi, everybody. I'm the author of this modification.
It is currently only available in China, and will be released in November with a self-assembly kit that you can install yourself.
The installation isn't complicated. You just take off the screen and don't have to take the device apart. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
No parts are damaged and can be restored to factory state.
For $249, it's available through paypal for two to three weeks of shipping and $30 to $40.
I would declare a lower value of the item to reduce the tax.

Also just got the FP, decided between it and the Fuji x-t3. Been trying to replace my bmpccOG for quite a while and didn't like any of the "stills body"-cameras I tested, also having a hard time justifying keeping several cameras. The FP seemed like a no-brainer.
Payed about 1070 GBP body only, looks unused.
Still undecided as for what lenses to get for it, vintage for sure. Maybe Minoltas? The metabones MD to L mount adapter seems nice.

I'm just going with the free Sigma 45mm f2.8 I am getting as part of the deal with the Lumix S5 + 20-60mm.
Actually, I am going to flip between these 2 lenses.
With the Sigma prime, I will be using the combo just like a fixed prime lens compact for all my 'personal' work.
For family trips, I'll use just the 20-60 as it has more flexibility and on holiday, I'd like that extra versatility for less serious use.
I've also decided that I will use the FP + 20-60 at the widest end only, all day at weddings purely as a stills camera for those rare times I want a really wide, but also on the tripod with power bank and Rode Wireless Go for pure long form static video capture during ceremony & speeches.
So kind of 4 uses out of 1 unit with the 2 lenses which is pretty cool.

I was excited for the Media Devision video and watched it in full the other day. A few months ago I finally put together a new FD lens set that I converted to EF mount and de-clicked: 20mm 2.8, 24mm 2.8, 35mm 2, 50mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.8. I also have the 35-105mm 3.5 and 80-200mm 4 zooms but I haven't converted them. And I have a really shitty copy of the 24mm 2 that maybe I'll get repaired if it's not crazy expensive. The nFD lenses have been my favorite lenses for a long time, so I'm satisfied with the little kit I have, even if it is the "budget" option vs "Luxury" option. They're still sharp yet subtle and pretty.

I've recently started looking at the FDs again after not owning any for a few years, and I am surprised by the price. Seems like even the FDn 50 f/1.4 or the wider f/2.8 lenses are more expensive now than when I bought and sold them. Weird!
