Amazeballs reacted to DBounce in 6K RAW is over-rated. Here's why...
I'm not sure what you are talking about? Are you saying AF is not "Pro"? Honestly I could care less what is "Pro"... I use a gimbal and motion controllers and often times control multiple cameras at once.  AF is a needed feature for these situations. I'm not talking about elaborate focus pulling... I'm taking about locking onto a subject and keeping it in focus. The primary reasons I do not buy Reds and Arri are: size, weight, lack of AF and convenience. If that changes I might have to rethink things.
This new "pocket" camera is simply too large and bulky to be the kind of camera I would carry day to day.  It's size and bulk relegate it to planned shoots. The kind of shoots my C200 is used for. The only thing this camera has going for it imo is price. But honestly, price is not a dominant factor in my purchasing decision. The more important factor for me is convenience of use... because if it is not convenient to use,  well... I don't use it.

An interesting interview overall. At 33 minutes the question about Organic Sensor is asked. And they guy frankly answers that no, we are not going to get it in any sort of consumer camera soon. So Sony again. Or maybe Samsung if we are in luck. He also explains about why GH5s didnt have IBIS - they could not fit it, only for that reason.

Well I was hoping for the infamous Organic sensor from Panasonic. I dont really care for 8k at all. I need more DR, built-in ND and perfect AF which oragnic sensor promised to provide. So I still have some hopes for it..

While we are waiting and dreaming I am solving some issuses for now by myself - bought several NDs for each lens plus rapid filter system for them. You can get the latter on Ali for 15$

It doesn't have an RF Mount, dual XLRs, or an internal ND (either internal or with the adapter). So the Pocket 6K does not have all of the specs a C100 III would have.
I've tried out the Pocket 4k and all of the usability issues remain in the 6K version, 3 or 4 of them being fatal flaws (meaning, I won't use it professionally):
    - terrible battery life
    - fixed screen that is difficult to work with and not daylight viewable
    - Terrible ergonomics and general shape.
    - Quite a few reports on random shut-downs (I had the Pocket 4K turn off on me more than a dozen times whenever the battery got close to 50%).
Currently, Black Magic makes cameras that give you a beautiful image with a fantastic codec and menu system at a GREAT price, but everything else is a bit of a disaster.

...And I think this why Sony is slowly overtaking them.
I honestly think Canon is just riding the consumer camera train with their brand and logo as the ticket for as long as possible with almost zero investment because there is not much profits in it anymore.
When that train loses steam they will fall back on their camera patents and lens designs and license those.
I find it hard to believe there is zero foresight at the management of this company. And don’t tell me it’s a Japanese thing. Other Japanese camera companies seem to get it.

Was just about to post this. Panasonic still segments but without the canon malice.
Quote from Sean that I think sums it all up: “We at Panasonic make incredibly pragmatic products”.
I would agree. Now fix your autofocus!
He also throws some subtle shade towards Nikon about ProRes Raw coming to the S1H.
They clearly took feedback from the G9, S1, and the GH5S and didn’t repeat mistakes. The on/off switch. IBIS with dual gain ISO. The flip screen and tilt screen (give the people what they want). Pragmatic codec on pragmatic media with dual slots. Great battery life.
Why they stay stubborn on the AF is beyond me. It’s better but they are still taking heat from it. They need to knock that aspect out of the park.

Really shitty updates from Sony. Feels like they didnt want to put any effort and R&D money into it but they wanted to keep their piece of the pie buy introducing small incrimental upgrades.

Specwise it's a bit disappointing. I'm sure the image out of it is spectacular (like most of the cameras nowadays), the tilting screen is a great evolution, the evf and IBIS are topnotch : sure it's a great camera. But when I read Andrew's article, I can't help remembering his rant about those biased youtubers under Canon's influence, because they were flown under the sun of Hawai, etc.
Now I read about Andrew at Panasonic's headquarters, and all I can read is praise about the camera, not even a single remark/critic about anything, eventhough there should be a few, in my humble opinion. I fully understand that when you are invited somewhere, treated well, etc. You don't want to be rude and say bad things about the product you had the chance to shoot with before everybody, even more so when it's a good camera like the S1H seems to be.
But come on, no word on NO Full Frame 4K 60p (what would you have said if it had been Sony), codec and bitrate very good but not revolutionary (especially for the added resolution of 6K), no ND, no PDAF (why not, but suddenly AF is not important, it varies from camera to camera...?). I can't even tell the difference with the S1 (I'll have to check it) but the fact you can have manual controls in HFR. I understand your rants, it's good sometimes, it might even be productive if heard by the brands. What I don't like is that it's so variable and relative. You should make an article about Panasonic crippling the S1 not allowing manual controls in HFR. It's as puzzling as canon not giving 24p...
And finally, the price. It's very very expansive. A very few people will be able to afford it. 4 000$ is in the realm of a real cinema camera with proper ergonomics, ND filters... That's why I think, you could ask for a bit more from this camera. The Fuji X-T3 has almost the same offering, (in aps-c) with crops between framerates a lot more manageable. The codec's bitrates are even better. There's no IBIS, EVF and build quality not as good, but the price difference is huge. Well that's only my take on it

I’m a MFT fan but I can only see the GH6 being successful if it really pushes the envelope for what we expect in a hybrid mirrorless of its size, like the GH5 did for its time.
In my opinion it has to have:
A built in ND function of some kind, wether on sensor, or in place of mechanical shutter (with a global shutter to take its place).
First to offer 4K 120p in a hybrid mirrorless. At least 6K or better a 8K open gate mode.
RAW or a very beefy HEVC codec of some kind with 10bit in all shooting modes.
Next generation IBIS + EIS that offers benefits over the already excellent G9 and GH5.
At least 14 stops dynamic range with full VLog and some kind of extended HDR shooting mode.
Vastly improved AF wether PDAF or next gen DFD (the S1 is way better than I thought).
I think anything less and people will ignore it because of the maligned sensor size ?

I have nothing against it. If a camera can handle 8k it means it can handle every other smaller resolutions at higher framerate and bitrate. I can even imagine using 8k myself once in a year to do a smooth dolly zoom effect

So will it arrive before GH6? ?
The idea is great and I love the ability to store multiple focus pooints with various speed transitions. But the focus should work smoothly, otherwise it is not very usefull for me personally.
I think you can gather even more customers with a Panasonic version, specially if it'll work on multiple cameras, like good old G85 or GX85.

Time of Flight / LiDAR continuous autofocus is really quite remarkable technology. There are rumours Panasonic will implement it on future cameras like the GH6. Don’t you wish the current autofocus-challenged cameras like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K or GH5 could have amazingly smooth Dual Pixel AF-like performance?
Well, you could soon be in luck. Time of Flight Autofocus is a reality and I’ve seen it working.
With this prototype add-on, a Time of Flight sensor sits in the hotshoe and talks wirelessly to the Pocket 4K. The autofocus motors in the Micro Four Thirds lens are commandeered based on real-time depth sensing information from the LiDAR beam.
I met up with CDA-TEK’s Ian (BTM_Pix on the forum) this week in Manchester to take a look at what he’s been working on.
