The GH5s with a speedbooster and XLR-1 gives you 90% of the functionality of the C100ii plus the added benefits of smaller size, 4k, slo-mo, HLG, dual native ISO, and more. If AF is a dealmaker/breaker, then you already know your answer.

This is known as “the pattern”
Resident eps are are shot in 8 working days plus one day of second unit. The second unit happens concurrently with the first day of the second episode shoot.
6 days are shot in studio and 2 day are out on location.
We average about 35 setups or “slates” per day. Have done as high as 60 on Resident.
Many setups are three cameras. So that’s about 70-90 “shots” per day.
Each camera shoots about 60-90 mins of footage per day but it’s not unusual to have 2 hours per camera (for action or slow motion heavy days)
i day we have three cameras but I really mean we have theee camera operators.
We have many more cameras that are pre-build for different roles. A, B and C are Alexa Mini. D camera is a full time Steadicam camera (Alexa XT for weight and mass).  It goes on down to letter q or something silly.
There are three sets of Primo Primes and each camera has its own 11-1 as well. We also have a couple of other specialty lenses like a CP 50 macro, and I also use a lot of SLR Magic primes on the micro and APO Hyper primes on the Ursa Mini.
We shoot about 6-10 script pages per day.
I always say you can’t really go much faster than a setup every 15 mins.  That’s 4 per hour.  On a 12 hour workday it means we theoretically can do 48 setups.  It’s very hard to maintain that kind of pace in a day (and have it look good)
Sometimes you can get the shot turnover down by leapfrogging cameras. Have the A cameras do the first shot, prep the B camera to come right in after that setup is finished and the A camera pulls out.
There are 12 in the camera department not including me.  Ops, firsts and seconds x 3 plus two utilities and a loader.
Time is the thing we all struggle most with. Time to light, time to shoot, time to tweak.
The pace of TV has a way of “honing” your choices and teaching you to react and trust your instincts.

    Eh, what!?
The Kinefinity is the same design as a Red in the same way a Canon DSLR is the same design as a Nikon one, or a Sony ENG camera the same design as a Panasonic one, or a Brand A car fundamentally the same design as a brand B car. They all have the same basic design and configuration.

I'm fairly confident that won't happen. Resolve is included free in the package, it's not a forced addon. It doesn't cost BM a penny to put a license in the box, but they would lose a lot of pennies for every sale they don't include it. I'm sure after a while you can buy the camera on it's own, but only on the second hand market. In fact, you're much more likely to find cheap Resolve licenses from people who have bought two cameras and only need one license.
Look at it like this. You go to a store to buy 4 apples and you're given these options:
    $2 for 4 apples
    or
$3 for 4 apples + two free apples
    Those extra apples aren't free.
Similarly if you argue that 'I already have a Resolve license so don't want the free license, can I have a discount instead?' That's also not going to work. Imagine buying a new camera that uses the same batteries as the camera you've already got. You can't ask the store to take the battery out the box and give you a discount - why would this be any different?

My dear erstwhile member can you please stop attacking John Brawley now.
I have long since given up on camera forum arguments so might not be completely up on who is right and who is wrong-evil / killed-a-kitten, but can we tone it down a bit. It's JB! We could be learning so much and having such interesting cameras talks with a film industry guy and I am sure one of the only people with a Blackmagic Pocket 2 prototype yet instead a handful of you are just bitching. It's pointless. Even if you disagree with him on certain matters, hold your tongue a bit for the benefit of the rest of us who are interested in what he has to tell.

Grow up you clown. You’d just sweep a complaint under the rug would you ?
The were complaints raised within my department by those affected directly with the HR departments of the studio I was working for. I leaned about it after the fact.
It’s disgusting that you’re still picking a fight here. Move on.

Unless there are performance related benefits to the Ronin S I'm not if an improvement in build quality is really all that exciting. What I'd switch for is better movement, I'd love for them to somehow move it away from the stiff, occasionally robotic movement of most 3-axis gimbals and introduce a little sway. If they manage to do that I'll switch.

I have the Crane 2 (the bigger one) and I just got the new mechanical focus motor, and it’s a revelation. Being able to pull focus using the Crane 2 wheel without having rig and power a bunch of different stuff is amazing. And they’re selling the gimbal and follow focus together for like 1000 bucks AUD!  Seriously, if you’re in the market for a gimbal you really need to look at the Crane 2.

Make it 40... to me this camera doesn’t even exist.
Eventually we’ll have footage from John Brawley or Frank Glencairn or Noam Kroll and the footage will look amazing. More people will love it but a few will find something wrong with it...
Eventually card info will be released, and more people will complain.
Eventually AF tests will show up comparing this camera to the PDAF of the a6500 and more people will complain.
Eventually low light tests will show up comparing this camera with the GH5s or the a7sii and more people will complain.
At the end, when it’s released, a bunch of people will complain because they hate that they have to use an IR Cut filter and they will complain that they only get 45-60 minutes of battery life and that they wish it had IBIS...
And eventually the usual suspects will be the only people that have the camera and the footage will be absolutely gorgeous.
    The End.

I think the pocket 4k is intended to deliver professional level quality, which it will. But given it's priced at $1300 and had been marketed at vloggers, I don't think it's being marketed for the traditional/typical professional. Think about how they have emphasized the pocket 4k's microphones, which no traditional professional would use. While the camera can definitely work for a cheap studio set up, I think it can really capture market share from Panasonic and Sony prosumers, and that's a really big market.
I've been really confused by people pitching the pocket 4k as a vlogging camera. But I think I'm starting to understand the idea. Personally, I don't really watch YouTube. So I thought it was basically just people like Logan Paul making light of suicide or PewDiePie being anti semitic. However, I then thought about stuff that I've seen some of my past girlfriend watch. There are a lot of fashion and make-up vloggers who really need incredibly high quality images even though they are basically running the channel on their own. Same thing for food and travel vloggers. No one wants to travel to the Rift Valley, Grand Canyon, Colosseum or Great Wall and capture anything less than the best. The price tag along with things like the low light capability mean that semi professionals, who might have more knowledge about fashion or travel than video, can capture incredible video even if they don't know how to or have the ability to light their scene. I'd bet that they could make great user of the baked in lut capabilities as well.
I'm not trying to suggest that prosumer vloggers are the primary target audience of the pocket 4k. But I do think that using an HDMI port and also the USB-C connection make the camera accessible to users from a big market that companies like BM don't typically get to tap into. I'm really excited not just for the camera itself, but also to see who uses it and what they produce. If travel vloggers start using the pocket 4k, I might actually start going to their channels instead of watching national geographic reruns. (Though YouTube could certainly improve it's codec)
Just my 2 cents. I understand that there are good reasons to prefer SDI over HDMI.

I think that in any serious evaluation of BM impact and consequences it is аdvisable to consider one highly important factor - pure personality behind. If I am not wrong, Grant Petty has total drivе-control of BM policy, and it seems to me that it is a man devoted to personal vision and strong feeling of his world-mission. For him, profit alone is not The most important goal - although of course important - but craving to make/left some relevant trace behind him. Some sort of Steve Jobs, maybe... What BM done with Resolve is wonder - and it seems that Petty decisively follow his idea of democratizing movie-making to the utmost boundaries... So, to me all other reasons/aspects of this one attempt are simply executive and secondary - it seems to me that here we are also witnessing to higher evolution of someone noble self-actualization, in the meaning that, say, Abraham Maslow gave to that syntagm...

Yes. 4K HDR Blu Rays are a significant quality jump compared to regular Blu Rays. And, given my internet speed, 4K streaming content seems about to be as visually excellent as a standard Blu Ray. Does that makes sense? haha

The price will intimidate many GH users. A large chunk of them like to think that their camera is the very best: anything more expensive is stupid overkill and anything equal or less is garbage. This price bracket seems to be where the most fragile egos exist.
