Good to hear another firmware update is coming for E1 owners, I wonder what it will be. 
 
 

If this is true then everyone should ask for it even if they don't need it, or even have a GH5/s for that matter. It would facilitate the democratization of this price segment even more by also putting pressure on Sony or Canon/Nikon if they decide to join as well. 

Why the GH5 in particular? I say Panasonic has been banging on their doors for a while now, such as the GH4 with the first ever internal 4K camera in that niche. 
Full frame diehards will say MFT is going to go extinct in the future as FE gathers speed (and Canikon FF mirrorless arrive), but I'd say the evidence on the grounds says nothing is further from the truth. MFT is one of the most well supported standards there are! By a wide range of companies.

It was the default setting on the camera, UHD 4K instead of DCI 4K, all of them are ISO 3200.
They didn't tape the card slot, so...

It's still true that almost no cameras < $5,000 but the FS5 and FS700 can shoot high-quality slow motion from RAW - here is 240 FPS slow motion in 2K:

This is just trying to make a really bad Spring more bearable.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how a dual processor could make 4k60p happen, the sensor readout speed wouldn't change. As it stands there's already a crop and some pretty severe rolling shutter with the current 4k options. We'll need to see a new sensor with a faster readout speed for 4k60p.

I think a better way to pressure them is where you spend your money. Canon and Sony are clearly going to keep a pretty wide gap between their hybrids and their respective cinema lines. How long have people been banging on Canon here and elsewhere about its video - and their market share hasn't moved an inch? Panasonic has found a niche with the GH5 and video shooters, but they're still small potatoes overall and photographers are still buying CaNikon in far greater numbers.
Probably not thinking about Blackmagic very much - if at all. The Pocket 4k (P4k) or the Zcam E2 is not going to sway anyone from buying a a7III or a Canon Rebel or anything with stills capabilities. I doubt it'll have any sort of an impact on Canon, Sony or Panasonic's respective cinema lines since they lack a viewfinder, ND's and any sort of competent AF (Canon) and so on. The previous $1000 Blackmagic cameras didn't put any pressure on the big players lower end models - none of them are offering raw and the GH5 is really the only one with 10-bit, these are just another budget option. I'm now looking at a P4k or the E2 as a video-only option instead of waiting for a used GH5s, but sales of both aren't going to push any of the big players to shift their philosophies.

But, yes, the AD Agency doing the work, obviously mistook it for a smartphone or GoPro, and planned the campaign for VLogging and action sports among other things. They probably wanted to position this as a camera for everyone.
Btw I still didn't figure out why there is money flying around that biker in that scene with the camera. 

I think its mis-named a bit. I get why they went with pocket, but it should be a Mini Cinema cam or something - unless someone has messenger bag sized pockets.

This thing is magnificent but that AF......  Same camera with Canon DPAF I would pay double the price easily. 
I love the screen, the recording formats... image will be gorgeous. No IBIS means Gimbal and Gimbal means continuous AF. Never right...

It looks like you can still use the normal 2.5" drives since the connector and protocol are the same, but it will stick outside a bit. The newer sata SSDs have small motherboards so potentially you could change the SSD in the caddy III yourself,  or you will have companies that sell just the caddies like they do with caddy II.

Also the Atomos guy says this supports ProresRAW but there are no cameras yet that do that over HDMI so we should "knock the door of the manufacturers and ask for it".

GH5 RIP

Huge Screen (5 inches?), CFast, SD and direct Hard Drive Connection; 4 built in mics, plus Mini XLR, Big battery, $1295 price. Wow

5" LCD - love it. I've been saying for a long time that a great way to separate from the pack is larger LCD's. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. It looks like they combined the Video Assist with a 4/3 sensor in a GH5 body.
Kudos to Blackmagic for another NAB showstopper. Hopefully it ships soon...

I doubt it's the same sensor for the Pocket 4k as that looks like it's still Super-16 sized but there is a lot of speculation the Terra 4K shares a sensor with the GH5S

Apples reasons for developing their own solutions for the entire chain has a lot to do with reliability. Their reliability comes from controlling all the bits and making sure they work together. 
The sum is a system that is greater than the sum of its parts because there is coherent intention throughout. 
I think it’s a bit cynical to presume it’s all about “locking in” it’s users.

I've held off on a external recorder because I want it to be somewhat future proof and do 60p, and the 7" screens are too big for my shooting style, but this might just fit the bill.
