Davey reacted to Lintelfilm in Full Frame Aesthetic?
    Exactly correct.
F-stop is a measurement of exposure - the amount of light hitting the sensor is the amount of light hitting the sensor. However aperture size as related to depth of field is a different thing entirely - not related to exposure but image character. Of course the two things are interrelated as one affects the other, but they should not be confused.
There will always be real-world advantages to larger sensors, but all things being equal (on paper / mathematically) you can always re-create the "full frame" aesthetic on smaller sensors.
THIS IS SERIOUS!!!! STOP BEING TRIVIAL!!!!

You can get generic tripod collars off ebay cheap. The one below is less than $6, search there are tons of them, you can probably get one off Amazon if you need it quick. The A7s chassis isn't a one piece design, I wouldn't hang a zoom off it without a collar attached to the tripod plate.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-200mm-f-4L-IS-USM-Lens-Tripod-Collar-Mount-Ring-A-W-for-Canon-EF-/381809716585?hash=item58e5a1ed69:g:TeoAAOSw8w1X~PEY
If you don't want to go that route, get a rod/baseplate/lens support from any rig maker.
If you search there are plenty of DIY solutions that use easy to source hardware, all you need is a clamp, something to protect the lens body from being scratched and a couple of bolts. You can do it for less than the $6 collar linked above.
I'd err of the side of caution and fabricate something or wait to use the lens until you have decent support.

Thanks  Davey, I plan on getting the fotodiox alternative which is aluminium but it won't arrive on time for this specific shoot. To be honest I already put the combo on a small magnesit copter tripod and is relatively steady. Nevertheless, in the back of my mind I can hear the thread of the A7 slowly cracking the plastic..

IBIS doesn't really make since for a big camera like that. The only things that could improve to make it an excellent camera would be a new menu system, DPAF, and (maybe) higher frame rates at 4K.

Question though, second hand used c100 II can be had in the 2000s....is it worth waiting around for one to be sold in NY or is it worth getting brand new?  I do not know much about the pros/cons.  Any insight?

    OMGZ GUYS I FINALLY GOT A 5D3!!!!! ??????
for those interested i need it now for stills so i bought it used off craigslist here in california for $1800 - came with 4 batteries, battery grip, 2 chargers, sd card, cf card, and 40mm pancake. its still under the resellers warranty (not canon, local shop) for another month, two small marks on the bottom of the body otherwise in great condition, and 12k on the shutter.
the seller was legit and he already had magic lantern on the sd card! so....
PLEASE HELP ME WITH MAGIC LANTERN RAW 5D3 BEST CURRENT PRACTICES
Whats the easy way to do things in terms of workflow? Mind you i am brand new to this so dont spare the details. I have a mac with the adobe suite, fcpx and resolve lite. speaking of which...
    TRY RESOLVE ITS FREE
i really have to thank you all for teaching me so much over the years ive read this board. when i first downloaded and opened resolve i had NO idea what was going on. thanks to a lot of learning i am now able to get into it a bit and i love it - resolve is AWESOME. and ykno what? it wasnt nearly as hard to get started as i thought it was going to be
so this is a special message for anyone who has had the ambition to try resolve but is too intimidated, or someone who tried in the past and gave up almost immediately (me lol). its really not that hard at all, for me the big disconnect was never using a node based app before and being terrified of that for some reason, but nodes are kinda like a tree of adjustment layers - its just weird looking at first ?
/anyway please prescribe me a raw workflow!!! id like to use resolve cuz i wanna learn it anyway but im open to whatever. any tips/tricks/pitfalls to avoid also much appreciated!!!!!!
thanks for the inspiration and all the knowledge guys!!! i really might not have bought this camera if not for eoshd ?

As above, enjoy in moderation. All camera movements are designed to evoke an emotional response - gliding should never be used to reflect grit (unless being pretentiously stylised) any more than over the shoulder shake should be used for a tender moment between a bride and groom (unless being pretentiously stylised). I saw a terrible wedding showreel the other week that was three minutes of zooming and sliders. It made me ill.

I would wait and see what initial reviews say about rolling shutter, battery life, and overheating. All are big issues on the current Sony cams, and it remains to be seen if they've been improved at all in this model.

Very likely a large portion of that low score is due to dumb FS7 owners buying and it expecting something totally different from it than what it is.

Davey got a reaction from Tim Fraser in which lenses for A7S II
I bought the following (though I am just a hobbiest at present that does the odd wedding and party):
    FE 28mm f2.0
    FE 16-35mm f4.0
    FE 55mm f1.8
    FE 70-200 f4.0
The only lens I have barely used as yet in the six months I have had the a7sii is the 16-35mm, but that is because it isn't fast enough for indoor shooting at night under disco lights. The other three lenses have been used equally and I love them all. I guess if money had been a bigger stumbling block at the time of purchase I would not have paid the Sony premium and instead gone down the adapter route, though the 28 and 55 are (in my opinion) worth the money.
If I'd had more money, I would have waited and gone for the following:
    Sony Zeiss 35mm f1.4
    Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8
    Sony 90mm f2.8 macro
    Sony 24-70 f2.8 (g-master)
    Sony 70-200 f2.8 (g-master)
