Wow. That's... pretty bad. Rolling shutter is something I always research before buying a camera, and after seeing that link I'm glad I haven't gotten the 5D4. My 1DX2 is certainly expensive, but it does just fine with fast motion.

I've been using 5DIVs where I work and just shot a rallycross race last week with them. The touchscreen and DPAF is great, and so is the 1080p 60. The rolling shutter in 4k is baaaaad though, especially for something with fast action like a car race. The 4k crop does come in handy when you need reach.

Used 5d4's are selling for $2750 on Fred Miranda. Personally I prefer the 5d form factor over the 1d - but that's a personal thing. A newer sensor, more MP, Clog, touchscreen and DPAF would make it a significant upgrade IMO.

Exactly. Classic Canon. Overpriced. Under delivering.

I wouldn't say no to buying a Canon camera, but only if I get it at waaay under market price. Which is how I purchased my Canon 50D

Yes, this video is pretty representative of what the 1DXMk2 does. It's not that hard to get some great stuff out of this camera. Once you have it you really can focus on producing work and forget about endlessly upgrading to the newly hyped this or that. The 1DXMk2 frees you to concentrate you efforts on the art of storytelling and take a break from the tech.
I often look at images that I capture with this thing and marvel at their beauty. So far the 1DXMk2 is my favorite camera. I prefer it to all that I have owned or used (AJA, BM, Panie, Sony and other Canons). It is the best compromise of performance, size, form-factor, durability, versatility, low-light usability, battery life, stealthiness, weather resistance. I have not experienced a single instance of buyers remorse. Not to say that it is prefect... nothing is. But it is a good balance of features. And the DPAF is a true game-changer.

No doubt, 5D raw is still some of the nicest looking stuff I've seen from any camera. Never ceases to blow me away.

Love the Canon 1DXMkII. Anyone that doesn't love this thing has probably never spent time with it.  Check out these shots from my website (mostly 1DXMkII and a few Sony shots).
This thing is simply amazing. Video in 4k looks great.  Granted not as much dynamic range as a dedicated cinema camera,  but better low-light performance, and built like a tank.  Plus you can take it places without need of a permit. Blows away my A7RII. And I'm happy it's E-mount. Why not?  It is first and foremost a stills camera.
Many a pro has used this camera with great results.  If you can't get great results with this... Well,  maybe what needs upgraded isn't the camera,  but your skill set.
Andrew, happy to have you aboard. As noted,  with this camera you can spend time worrying about content... not worrying about getting the next model.  Canon doesn't pop a new model of their flagship cameras out every other week.
For stabilizing,  use the Letus Helix Jr, a jib,  or a slider. Hand hold with a shoulder rig. All work fine.
The 1DXMKII is the real deal. A proper professional tool that should serve it's owner well for years to come.
    DBOUNCE APPROVED!

That's absolutely true - and the seller is a British company...
    @DaveAltizer
Thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately my budget for this matte box is max 800 EUR. I understand, the Bright Tangerine products are well made and in carbon fiber - so pro DP use them very often, but they are simply not affordable for my needs in this case.

Switching from Premiere CC/Resolve to FCPX is the best decision I ever made. Over the last year I must have saved at least six months in editing and render times
(Btw, today I downloaded a 30 day trial of Capture One Pro 10. Took me about 20 minutes to realize that it's time to dump Lightroom as well. So, "Buy buy Adobe. Loved you from CS5 to CC but you have lost the mojo.")

Amazing. I've put DaVinci 14 Public beta on my old Macbook Air 3,1 (late 2010, the first version of the small Air 11") just for fun, and it works pretty smoothly (apart from the rendering, of course).

This is in line with what is floating about and seems reasonable given their standard release schedules.
I'm gonna take a stab and say they'll probably price it around 6-7000 mark, so more than the C100 mk ii was at release.
Either that or they'll actually make it a C100 Mkiii with a small step up in spec as before. Maybe 1080p100 and 4kp30
Canon seem to have some kind of aversion to high speed so I wouldn't expect more than 100fps.
They could also make a mildly upgraded C100 MK iii AND a C200 and not cannibalise the line, this would make some sense and keep the core C100 format profitable, a bit like the constant upgrades of the 550D ad nauseum.
TBH it's the one I've been waiting for, but we all know pinning hopes on Canon these days is a bit like waiting for Father Christmas and seeing your dodgy uncle walk in wearing just a beard and novelty boxers.

Dave thanks for the info, don't mind these pricks... they know not what they do.
Everything you've mentioned seems very plausible, Canon is known for their tier system. They also believe 4K is not the be all end all for all shooters, so it would make sense that they retire the C100, drop the C100ii price, and bring the C200 in at the original C100ii MSRP.
Thanks again, can't wait for Cinegear.

I was just at the Sony press release and spoke to a Sony Rep. there was literally nothing interesting at the press release. I told the rep I was hoping for a Sony a9s and he asked me why? I told him it's because I want Slog and better video features. He then asked me "why why don't you just get an a7S II?" I said I want phase detect autofocus and the better battery. He then said "well you're going to have to wait a long time."

    conclusion:
nothing new here. Looks like we will wait at least another 6 months before we see anything.

I just had an "on the record" conversation with the a canon rep today on the show floor and brought up the whole "lack of 4k across the board" issue. They told me that the Japanese corporate people just don't get it but now are seeing some serious impact from Panasonic and Sony. He said their philosophy is that people who buy 77d and t7i don't need 4k but I said the 80d is a great video camera and they should add 4k to that model. He said a 90d with 4k would make sense but not to get our hopes up.
I also spoke to a Panasonic rep today who told me that he was on the airplane sitting next to a Canon rep and the Canon rep told him "you and Sony are eating our lunch in the lower end and the a9 is a serious hit to our high end." The Panasonic rep said this is the first year that Canon reps have the humility and lack of ego/ pride that they normally do.
Also, I spoke to the Canon rep about the c100 mk3. He said it does exist. It's just not here and he couldn't tell me when we will see it. He couldn't confirm any specs. I'll try to dig more on them tomorrow

Yes. There was a leak. I am not saying anything and I didn't post this. I may or may not have heard something tonight at a party
It may or may not have been a reputable source but from what I was told it sounds like the perfect camera. We will see tomorrow

The Japanese market is very different. I had discussions with Panasonic at the release of the VaricamLT and there are definitely features in that that are there due to other markets' persistence that the Japanese just didn't think was important.
Interesting to see what transpires. Panasonic and Sony obviously get it now, and 'got it' a lot sooner than Canon
