In 43rumors, "a source" is claiming 0,3 to 0,5 stops performance ahead of a D500, over a half stop better then the E-M1 MK II, video specs on par with the GH5s including low light, 10 bit internal recording, best EVF in industry withou blackouts, C-AF tracking as good or better than the Sony A9.

I want the drugs that this guy is using, must be amazing.

So we should all rush out and but the camera with the best product market strategy!?
Doesn't seem like much fun to me.
Personally I will buy what works for me, preferably that which is well designed and innovative.

Spoken like a true Sony fanboy. This camera is a dud. Sony pulled a Canon by recycling the same 3-year-old sensor that already had issues with its abysmal RS.
    $100 cut ain't fixing that.

XT3 has AF-C in video. It even does face & eye tracking.
I'd buy an XT2 (or XH1 if you need IBIS) over this mess of a camera.
Rolling shutter alone (36ms!) makes it a no go, especially for the intended travel/vlog market its intended for.
Of course the cluelessness of that demography probably has never heard of RS and will be swayed by the hype/pricing.

Ha ha the camera is a massive flop. Clearly Sony have learned nothing about ergonomics and how people actually use their cameras.

    yes, it's normals as in
    a) you can get a color shift, especially from cheaper filters
    b) variable nd filters use polarisation filters and thus can influence reflections and the sky
    c) when you go too far and use a filter without hard stops, an X will appear due to the way those filters work.

Yes, fixed nd filters offer better image quality, but you loose the flexibility. If you go for different fixed nd filters you might take a look at the xume manfrotto stuff.

I dont understand these comments about the X-T3 feeling like it could fall apart. Ive owned tons of Fuji’s as well as Panasonics, Sonys and Nikons, ove never felt the Fuji were somehow cheaply made. I think this is just becoming troll central.

Most fun to shoot with? I've owned everyone of these cameras on the list except the BMPC. By far the most fun is the X-H1, followed by the Nikon Z6.
When I go out to shoot I pick up the X-H1, with a camera bag with Rokinon EF mount lenses, and three EF to F mount adapters: standard adapter, adapter with a throttle variable ND filter, and an adapter with speed booster---and get ready to have a great time shooting.
The last thing Sony needs is to go punk.
Sony needs to go Mozart, or Brahms--or even Wagner.
Anything is better than their devotion to the Zombie apocalypse look.

Some lens observations from the 2.0 obtains which finally coupled the IBIS to OIS.

10-24: wow, this lens is Olympus good now, simply amazing how good the stabilization is. As an extreme test, I followed my toddler around for about 10 minutes, and all of it, besides walking up the stairs, was excellent.
18-55: noticed a big difference in panning quality, no more floating image. Otherwise it’s a slight improvement.
55-200: not listed in the release as an improvement or upgrade. I’d say it improved at least as much as the 18-55.
18-135: got my personal one refurbished, exhchanged or fixed by Fuji USA... whoa. This is like shooting the 12-100 on the EM-1ii. The image quality is still lacking, but if you’re in decent light, handhold this all day long.
Fuji did a great job on this update, makes the X-H1 a much better camera for video. There is something about this camera that is just more fun or easier to use than my work X-T3, maybe it’s because I like what I’m shooting more.

But you can say "image good enough to tell a story" about most of the cameras in market today... even on some smartphones.
You can also say "forget specs and just shoot" about any camera.
All these general sentences teach nothing when you try judge a camera.

    Here's my top 5 cameras of 2018.
Of course we all know "there's no such thing as a 'bad' camera" any more but there is such a thing as a dull, boring rip off. Then there's the stuff that has a shelf life of a few months, that you just know is a stepping stone before the real deal arrives. In many ways 2018 was a good year to keep hold of what you have and wait for the dust to settle. An eventful one for technology, especially in the second half where we saw some glimpses of the future. In 2018 we had six truly great cameras for filmmakers and a few that didn't make my top list like the RX100 VI but which are nevertheless still useful in one way or another.

Funny the thumbs down with no comments. Truth must hurt? Some idiot actually tried to get that video removed from YouTube with a phony copyright violation claim. Unfortunately for them, it was cleared by YouTube.... but hey, nice try.
Honestly, I wanted to love the Nikon for video, but in practice it’s AF is weak, in both stills and video. The competition has improved... the X-T3 beats the Z6. The Sony performs better than the Z6 under most conditions... but nothing comes close to the 1DXMK2; it can actually hold focus better than is humanly possible.

It's probably cos they're sold on specs, and spec arguments attract that kinda crowd.

Same with Red. Most high-end is still shot on Arri no matter how many pixels Red chuck in, but that doesn't stop the red fanboys going postal on threads all over the shop.

I actually owned a Red for a while and it was good, but a bit heavy-duty for the kind of stuff we use in-house cameras for.

I always sold Sonys after finding them hard to use in post, but hopefully the next batch will have nicer colour.

Tools are always part of a working process, but for some people they'll always be the real obsession.

Alright, I need to rant. Slightly tongue in cheek so apologies in advance to toes I might be stepping on. Ok, who with any kind of self respect uses a camera that has “FULL FRAME” written on the outside? Yes let’s use a somewhat problematic term and paint it on the outside of the camera together with BIONZ INSIDE or whatever else crap is on there. I think there’s a f****g “4K” sticker on there too. These labels, besides being reminiscent of labels on cheap hifi from the 90’s, is designed to re-assure the insecure gadget consumer that they indeed bought the FULL FRAME camera.
That’s how I view these Sony-trolls that pester forums online. And no, users of Canon or Nikon or Pentax et c are not as aggressive. Many Canon/Nikon users I know would never even write on these places. They don’t care about tech.
Sony is exciting. Sony is FRESH NEW TECH. Prepare to get excited!
Sony of course know the buyers of their products and they know which buyers they target. Hence the labels, hence the heavy focus on specifications that look great on paper while ignoring ergonomics, colour, durability and so on. The targeted consumer is a male tech geek. These nerds are typically, in my experience, incredibly entitled to the TRUTH. Which makes them entitled and arrogant. They know they have God, sorry I mean paper-specs, on their side. It’s the same dudes that were insufferable know it alls in college.
Yet these dudes don’t understand why most successful photographers are using other brands. So there’s the insecurity again. Better read over my FULL FRAME sticker ten times, calm myself with the 4K label, and then go online and write about all other cameras being shit.
I can’t imagine anything less attractive than a man-boy who feels good about themselves by affirming themselves with the latest teddybear, sorry I mean spec.
I can’t imagine anything less hot than a man-boy who instead of gifting a beautiful photograph or video to the world, goes online to preach about the importance of AF speed.
I struggle to understand what a gigantic turn off it is to relate to camera brands as if they were football clubs.
I fail to comprehend the sexiness of going online to shout “mine is faster than yours” as if six year old boys.
I would never ever, even if somebody paid me two grand, be seen with an A7. Someone might spot the “FULL FRAME” and with that, the writing is quite literally on the wall what kind of man I am.

PS. Before you hang me please understand that this was written with intention of humour and not without cheerful self-deprecation. Have a nice day.
