I think your argument is based around the idea that lenses are an investment, but they're not, they're a consumable.
I understand why you might think that, because it's a myth that seems to be on endless repeat in photography circles.
To understand why I don't believe that lenses are an investment, have a look at the Camera-Wiki Lens Mounts page, or the Wikipedia Flange focal distance page, and see how many of the mounts are still in-use on a current model camera.  There are things like PL, and EF (although its days are numbered), but the vast vast majority of them are essentially dead.  Even if you take very good care of them (the best way by never using them!) they will still age and the rubber and lubricants will dry out, with plastics becoming brittle, and coatings changing over time (yellowing, for example).  A second hand market does exist for some of the exotic lenses of yester-year, but unless you're talking about the pinnacle of the range, then they're worth very little.
MFT is a dead mount in the same way that EF is a dead mount - it is supported by current flagship cameras with specs that remain desirable, but is likely to decline in the future.
I would hesitate to call PL mount a dead mount, but anything else probably has the writing on the wall, it's just a matter of time.
I invested in MFT glass considering it a purchase that I would use for a period of time, get value out of, and then at some point it would be worth nothing to me and likely to other people as well.  Just like the shiny new camera bodies that everyone loves to salivate over.  I have some of the most desirable MFT lenses around, but the total cost was still in the same league as buying a single camera body.
In terms of the GH5 having been left behind, do a count of how many current model cameras can match the 4K60, or the 400Mbps All-I 4K 10-bit internal, or the 5K 10-bit open gate h.265.  Odds are whatever it is you're using can't do that.  There are some cameras that can, but odds are that I can't get them into a museum or historical monument without security asking me if I'm a professional, which wouldn't matter because my arm would probably fall off having to carry it around all day.
All technology goes down in value over time.  Relying on the resale value of any piece of equipment to justify its ROI is a recipe for losing your money.
I don't understand why people think of equipment in terms of resale value - it's purpose is to be used, not traded.

I think when you get very close to relatively small things is when you can't substitute for a slider, e.g. when doing product videos for advertising / online stores or also when doing cooking show / recipe type of stuff. You can try to replicate it with a gimbal but there's zero reproducability and because of the small scale of everything, even the little bit less stability and off-axis movement you get with a gimbal can screw up the shot. It's very different if I close in on a person with a gimbal to end with a medium close-up shot or if I have to close in on a single shoe and end up with a close up of the laces, for example.
    Different tools for different applications.

I agree with many things Trump does and disagree with many others. Anyone who completely agrees or disagrees with anyone, including God, is probably a Communist, not because he doesn't have opinions, but because there is an absolute ban on expressing any opinion, not in complete compliance with the dictats of the top leadership.
This post almost seems like it's right out of Communist China or USSR under Stalin or Lenin or Germany under Hitler.
In any civil world, one can Agree to Agree or Agree to Disagree, and both choices are respected. Lack of choice is the foundation of Communism, whether disguised as hard left, or modern age liberals trolling anyone and everyone on social media and in public, even their own brethren, if opinions aren't expressed by an exact expression of phrases and words, including calling everyone else in disagreement with themselves (including non radical liberals) as fascists and racists and evil and (ironically) intolerant and other names.
If the whole purpose of this post is about politics, maybe politics should be kept out of discussions here. Or dedicate a thread to political discussions (if political discussion can ever be called that).
Ban me or ban whoever you want. There is a huge chance that many of us won't make it past a few weeks from now, thanks to a China created and criminally and negligently spread virus. So it probably won't even matter.

Still completely happy with the purchase and tbh it’s part of the reason I’m holding onto my GH5 even though I’m doing way more photography than videos lately.

FYI if you interpret a (non Blackmagic Design) DNG in Resolve as "BMD Film" this will be Gen 1 which means for gamut there is NO transform - you are getting the sensor spectral response to colour which is not represented by 3 primaries like most gamuts and can't be treated as such. That would mean to "accurately" convert to Rec709 you would need the spectral response data for the sensor in the camera to calculate the transform to Rec709 for an illuminants given colour temperature, or by shooting known targets under various illuminants and doing a regression fit from there. It means multiple transforms depending on your white balance.

The 709 gamut option in Resolve for DNGs is using the 2 colour matrices and "AsShotNeutral" tags (for white balance/tint) provided in the DNG metadata which have been calculated by the manufacturer (using one or both the methods described above) to provide a transform to XYZ for the given white balance (the matrices are actually used to transform from XYZ to sensor space but you can invert that) and from XYZ a standard conversion to 709 is performed. The ACES pipeline in Resolve also uses the same matrices in the DNG to convert to XYZ and then to ACES primaries.

Of course many people just graded BMCC/Pocket footage with Gen 1 by hand and were also pleased with the result, but one should not expect the sensor response to appear in a meaningful way on a typical display without some kind of transform (calculated or done manually).

But this is mostly to say if someone created a LUT or otherwise for BMCC/Pocket Gen 1 DNG footage, it will not be "correct" for other cameras (it may coincidentally look okay but that may also be scene specific). And most importantly for our cameras our others, if grading or creating a LUT etc for footage left in sensor space you need to adjust the correction/transform for illuminants with different colour temperatures. I.e Something done for footage shot under daylight will not usually work well for something shot under tungsten.

If you use the Rec709 gamut option, you could use the CST OFX plugin to transform to another gamut safely as the RAW decode and CST plugin will not clip data and the white balance specific response has been already taken care of (the way the manufacturer wants done) in the transform to 709. This is the workflow I would recommend with such footage. YMMV.

The small hole is actually to reduce the amount of material required, thus saving 0.23 cents/unit on manufacturing costs. It's the compromise they made in order to afford the 24p license.

Sony’s market share in FF cameras is growing, until that slows what’s the incentive to push specs too far? Zero. I mean the R4 is essentially the R3 with a new sensor, better EVF and some small control refinements that allow them to milk customers for yet another grip.
Panasonic is trying to launch a new system with AF that’s not particularly competitive compared to the market leaders - Canon and Sony. So they have to stuff the spec sheet elsewhere. I’m just not going to get psyched for S1 specs in an E-mount body. I’ll believe it when I see it.

The hardware is pretty robust, the software is only so-so, Lumafusion lacks color wheels and scopes among other things. Its a fine editor, its a poor color solution and there's really noting else in iOS at the moment. For fast turnaround stuff with just basic shadow/highlight adjustments and a LUT I really like it though.
As far as being on topic, the footage is really nice, I actually tinkered with it on my XS Max in Lumafusion. If the a7s3 wasn't on the horizon I'd probably shoot from Sony and get the S1 along with the new Sigma lenses, its a cracking camera.

Yes you are right, it is more interesting for people like me that leaves at the boundary, because we can still benefit from the warranty by directly bringing the camera to the store, for example at Geneva (that, of course, only if there is a big price difference after having add VAT). I believe some camera brands refuse to repair cameras bought in Switzerland.
And yes, with current rebates, you can find it at more or less 2000€, which is the same as Switzerland + VAT I guess (https://audiophil-foto.de/de/shop/kameras/nikon/nikon-z6-z-24-7040-s_5688_559). Same debate as with grey market, which becomes less interesting when you add VAT...

I'm also waiting to see how it works with the TechArt, as I'm debating between buying the Z6 again or wait for a S1 (have to save more...). I want to use certain Canon lenses, so I need to check the stacking of MC-11>>TechArt>>Z ! Anyway, good times to hunt for a camera !!

Seeing how y'all are shooting a lot of manual focus lenses, how do the different camera systems with 135/FF sensor compare when it comes to their EVF for manual focusing M-mount lenses?
I'm considering Sony A7, A7R, A7 II, A7R II, Nikon Z6 or - very slim maybe - A7 III, looking for a camera that is as small+light (and ideally cheap, as it's not my main system) as possible to shoot M mount lenses, purely for photography (35/40/50/75mm lenses for portraits, etc., looking for feel&look, not technical perfection).
I read that the A7R has some aliasing in the EVF that coincidentally actually helps see when stuff is in focus (comparable to the over-sharpening focus help in the SmallHD field monitors).

EDIT: Unrelated, I can absolutely second the discussed Sigma 30mm DC HSM Art lens. With a focal reducer it's the perfect normal lens on m43 sensors and I love the rendering it gives. Pity there are so few APS-H cameras left besides the odd Sigma and some old EOS 1D.

I had the original A7r, and it was pretty damn hard to get shots in focus do to camera shake even with the stabilized lenses on them. They are in a sense Too light to shoot with. And I did experience shutter shock even on a tripod. I had to hang a weight off the bottom of the tripod to make it stop at certain low shutter speeds. If I remember it was like 1/60, even 125th. They had a firmware update that helped but not completely. Even the A7r mk II with IBIS didn't cure it either because you shouldn't use IBIS on a tripod. But they were a lot better handheld. Electronic Shutter on A series cameras are the way to go for slower stuff.
But when it worked they were pretty amazing output wise. A real bargain for what they cost. I recommend the, Even the original A7s even with Only 12mp has an amazing output Photos wise. You would be surprised how good they can do.
These shots was taken with the A7s. As much detail I need unless I want to go really big print wise.

Yes, it was shown quite a bit and the fact that it doesn't have a mechanical shutter means it's probably not so great for some types of photography.
Now that I stopped hyperventilating, I'm curious what sensor it uses.
How fast will the read out be? How much rolling shutter? How good the auto focus?
