Parker reacted to BTM_Pix in Hands on with the RED Hydrogen
    Wow.
By the standards of the usual responses on there to anything that RED does its not just a lukewarm reaction but positively icy isn't it?
I imagine the response to the phone's USP being less than adulatory could do you a favour there and the bolt on modules might end up delivering more for less to compensate.
I suspect they don't want the (by their standards) very mediocre response from the flock bringing the vibe down in the main hall of worship.
That will likely only get far, far worse as it reaches the hands of normal consumers who tend to have a different perspective on the appropriate response to a missed deadline and/or a less than promised performance or feature set.
You don't want the general public showing up with their torches and pitchforks on reduser. It would be a bloodbath !

Articles about creative processes are boring. Because they usually have absolutely nothing to do with creativity at all.
If you really want to know how an artist's mind works, look no further than the highly controversial Cannes visits of Lars Von Trier.

IIRC the fashion is to have shallow depth of field but the killer technique with Sony users (no front-facing screen there either!) is to extend your arm out with fingers pointed up and focus on them, as when holding the camera that's the same focus distance as hand to your face..  :D
In reply to the above and also in general, we're in (yet another) situation where worlds collide.
World #1 is people who shoot RAW and see the camera as a tiny cinema camera.  In this sense SDI > HDMI and professional standards > consumer standards.
World #2 is people who want the 'best' ILC camera for under $2000.  In this sense, HDMI > SDI, consumer standards > professional standards, and front-facing buttons/screens/etc are nice features to have.
Neither world is wrong, it's just that before the DSLR revolution and YouTube these two worlds had never touched before.  Now they're in full collision mode.  Camera companies are trying to make products that appeal to both worlds and failing to connect, and both worlds look each other up and down then go back to whispering in separate groups like 10-year-olds in the school-yard.
In a decade we'll have worked out how big the market for online video is, how many people it can sustain at the various levels of quality, and what products make sense.
At the moment it's a mess, where the 'best vlogging camera' debate includes your phone, the RX100, the Canon M50, the Sony A7III, and the Pocket 2.  Any application that includes tools as varied as that lineup should indicate that we still haven't worked out what the hell is going on yet.

The T5 has a small, blue, blinking LED indicator on the port-end that flashes when reading or writing.

I always export to h.265 now, since Vimeo accepts it for upload. Basically as a rule I just push the bitrate as high as it can go to whatever gets me the closest to that 5 GB upload limit. It is usually quite a bit slower than exporting to h.264 of course, but theoretically the hevc codec offers far higher quality at the same bitrate than h.264, so for me it's perfect as a delivery/upload codec for the highest possible quality without astronomically large file sizes.

I don't edit directly with my recording media (I mean I have, occasionally, for super quick, tiny little projects, off of SD cards) but for the past couple months I have been editing all of my projects off of my Samsung T5 USB-C ssd, which is what most will be using with the new pocket, and it works perfectly. Super tiny, light, and incredibly fast. Once I get my my hands on this wonderful-looking new cam, recording with the Sammy and then editing immediately should be a breeze.

Firstly this review was with the old firmware and Samsung addressed most of the issues with the later firmware.
The credibility of Cinema5D is probably less than Mata Hari the double agent. And their ability to take criticism is worse than Uwe Boll.
The sheer number of rude comments on this very post of Cinema5D highlights the very problem with brazenly biased reviews. They wrote a scathing initial review of the GH5 too calling the Vlog a joke or unusable or something on those lines. I believe Panasonic threatened to sue, so they took down their article to re-write It, removing all the vitriolic rubbish that had made itself to the initial review.
This kind of shamelessly biased writing dismisses any hope of credibility.

That's more than a lot of full frames of that time (including the 5D Mark ii and iii).

Sir, you are, to put it mildly, talking out of your ass. I'd shot Canon for years before jumping to the NX1 as my main photography camera (commercial, portraits - studio and outdoors), and it's not even fair competition to the Canon (ever tried lifting the shadows off black hair on a Canon?). The NX1 has an insane dynamic range, and I find it does comparably well next to a Nikon or Sony. And I say this as someone who still uses the NX1, and has done photo shoots side by side with a Sony A7R2 and a Nikon D850.

Here's a quick little spot I shot for a local restaurant's facebook cover yesterday, very quick turnaround because those Sammy colors are so gorgeous! This is basically right out of camera, only a tiny bit of tweaking on a few shots. Normal gamma, color sliders at 1.99, sharpness -10, contrast -4, saturation -2, on both the NX1 and NX500 (the only difference being the master black level on the NX1 was at 15 and obviously the NX500 doesn't have this setting). While this isn't showcasing of increased dynamic range per say, I do really like the way it came out looking.

Testing outside using the new profile, it's very overcast here at the moment, I found my self switching between negative 1.0 and 1.3, but compared to the same scene with Picture Wizard off there is more dynamic range. Also there is at least 1 stop more to be gained which could prove invaluable in failing light.
I hope that you test this and share your results. I have not tried adjusting any other settings which I have left at standard. This may also work for the gamma DR profile as well, more tests are needed.
I will be using this profile for the next few weeks just to see if it is reliable.

Just to summarize this thread for any anyone in the future who comes across it before it gets locked.
Arikham claimed to unlock "16bit" Raw video on the NX1. some people believed him while others were extremely skeptical. No proof was provided. After about one week the skeptics demanded proof. Still no proof was provided. The people who believed him defended him. The individual disappeared because he was scared of everyone who demanded he provides proof of his claims. Roll credits with cheesy music...
    ....
Mathew Hartman went on to start an anti-bullying campaign and was eventually recognized by Melania Trump for his valiant efforts around the world on cyberbullying
Kisaha lost faith in humanity and moved to the woods to live out the rest of his life as a recluse with no contact to the outside world.... He spends all his time trying to hack the NX1 to unlock RAW video.
BTM_Pix opened up an online detective agency.... to this day he still takes on probono cases related to the camera hacks
Arikham was never heard from again

Lol, sorry I kinda got lost in my own sorry there.
