Even without VLOG, I'm loving this camera and floored by the colors and dynamic range. Here are a couple screengrabs from a shoot I was on yesterday, using the HLG profile. I'm very, very excited to get my hands on the log upgrade. I think this is the first time I've ever had a video camera where I'm actually choosing the DR I want scene-to-scene at my discretion, rather than being forced to deal with limitations of the camera. There's plenty of room in the shadows and highlight roll-off is silky smooth. Color me impressed.

Ah, just in time, a French shop just posted a video about MC-21 + S1 + 18-35 !! All shots are handheld and in lowlight.
At 34s (guys in red) they use face detection (focus change from one face to another at around 39/40s). They say they are really impressed with this combo.

So called source is talking about the production costs / R&D expense of making the camera, not the market pricing of it.
Then again I wouldn't expect a rumours site to let the truth get in the way of a good headline.

Judging by the discounts and cash back incentives on virtually all of the brands, I don't think any of them are having a particularly bumper time sales wise.
The problem for Nikon is that the L mount is building momentum through the upgrade of the S1, the announcement of the FP, the availability of the new Sigma lenses, the release of the S1H, the upcoming Sigma FF Foveon announcement and I suspect the new Leica SL isn't far off being announced now either.
None of that makes the Z6 a bad camera of course but Nikon need to wrestle some of that momentum back and a statement on when the upgrade is actually going to happen would be a start.
There's probably never been a better time NOT to buy a full frame camera though as within a few months Sony might be along with something that could blow everything out of the water, the Sigma FP might just be the full frame version of the original Pocket Cinema camera or the S1H might tick every box of being a full frame GH5s, or... if none of those things come to pass then the deflating prices of the S1 and Z6 etc will have no doubt continued anyway and they will become fantastic bargains, particularly used.

Yeah if its only through HDMI then they can fuck off and take these shitty low capacity batteries with them.

Same. I think the smart play would be between $1300-$1600.
The BMPCC 4K put a wrench in a lot of cameras. So unless the FP shoots internal Raw at around the price point of the P4K, I don’t really need it.
As a hobbyist, I only NEED 1080p Raw. I already have FF Raw with my 5D3. And I have S16 Raw/ProRes with my newly acquired BMMCC, so to upgrade to 4K Raw, the FP would have to be competitive with the P4K.
The next year should be pretty interesting. If I’m being honest with myself, I probably won’t upgrade my cameras for another year or two, so hopefully by then all of my boxes will be ticked for $2500 or less.

This is why I'm expecting (hoping) the price tag for the base unit to be competitive with the BMPCC4K. More expensive, no doubt, but competitive when you consider FF vs M43.

One thing that made me crazy is this stupid app from panasonic to transfer foto.when a wifi router is near, they connect to it and lose connection to the camera.last weeding i want transfer some screengrabs from video to but it on insta, but it was impossibile because this problem ?
The AF works ok, if only 1 person is in scene, but with multiple is very jumpy.i have tested standard settings and extended.Second seems to react faster but with more pumping. So i use 90% MF with peaking. I think one of the best, on par with Atomos recorders. The size and weight for me are optimal, you can handheld it with a focus loop and you have a tripod style experience

By the way, one slight drawback here is the price variation in different markets.
Most notably in Sweden where some of the prices I've seen him get gear for means that @Mattias Burling might well end up shooting his $150 entry on an Alexa

Buffer was big enough to make this on the E-M1 II. Not tried the same thing on the E-M1X yet. Maybe buffer is the same, or larger. I'll find out soon enough.

Leaving aside discussions about imaging chips for a moment, if there are any better actual chips than the thrice cooked ones available from the van at that market then I've yet to taste them

The funny thing is I don't think you can go wrong with almost any current camera nowadays. You'll kind of be set unless things change so much that people only watch things in 3D or something.

Creativity is the biggest limit. Imagine 25 years ago when all you had to make a quality looking movie was shooting on film. We have it incredibly easy nowadays.

Nothing too surprising about the specs. That it can be "matched" (their words) with the Varicam is interesting. $4000 sounds reasonable but still way too much for me.
Really weird naming for the firmware upgrade coming out in July though. The SFU2? ?

Resolve and bRaw are totally free, and bRaw is a open Codec that is FREE for anyone to use in their cameras and anyone's NLE. That is a Hell of a lot different than Forcing you to Only use a Apple, and FCP, a Apple product, and Having to pay a license to Apple to even have it in your camera, or NLE, and having to pay Apple for FCP, no free version.
See how many F ing times you have to Pay Apple. You don't have to pay BMD anything unless you want the full version of Resolve, and even then it is for life it seems, and only 299 bucks. And they didn't charge a dime when they introduced the bRaw upgrade. Even Panasonic wants to rip your ass for V Log, Sony is good at it also.
I don't see how anyone can be Anti BMD. They have done more for the average guy to make stuff affordable than the rest of them combined.

No I am saying to buy a C100. Hell if you buy one with the battery charged all you have to do is throw a mike on it, a cheap SD card in and away you go. Don't need no 4,000 dollar computer to edit the footage. No spending all day to correct the colors, and hell if you get one with DPAF it might actually be in focus using a cheap ass EF-S lens. No cage shit, no battery solution from hell, just killer sharp 1080p footage. Not sure what else a person needs?
