  1. Hey, I was first who posted about MarkusPix on this forum. I am quiet proud of that! Now I am sure you have been watching this guy more than I did, because you´re a super cool dude, the cool cat with the GX85, right? 🙂 @John Matthews But still, makes me happy I was first to post about him. Btw, loved your posts about the GX85 back then, John. Made me pull the trigger and get one. Awesome little cam, still. Would love it if Panasonic put on out with 10bit 422 and HLG. 600 bucks and I´m sold.
  2. @Laurier Thx for commenting and for contributing an interesting perspecitve on colour palettes of cams. Still, IR pollution was very hard if impossible to tame from my experience with BMCC 2.5K footage. I would recommand always doing some IR and other testing beforehand filming, especially paid work. The latter has given me some headaches fighting IR pollutin in post due ingnoring the issue.
  3. Darn, sick of all these new cams. Andrew, put your Fuji into the race and kick these new cams tush! ProresRAW Monster allert! @Andrew Reid
  4. My Eureka moment: I was wondering about these new cameras and older new cameras like BM Pocket 6K and all these image monsters. Then Andrew posted some rumour about a full frame Blackmagic camera and youtubes algorithm put some BM Pocket 6K footage infront of my nose. Now the challenge! Produce some of these shiny camera showcase footages with an 8bit HD camera! Challenge the claim superiour image quality by these dynamic range monsters. Reshoot the shiny ads with an 8bit HD cam. GH1,2,3, no. 4 in hd, nikon dslr, canon, whatever. Challenge it with beautiful 8bit rec709 glory. Special category 8bit LOG, but HD only. So I am talking about monster footage like this from the 6K Godzilla Cam. Darn, tough as bricks challenge. Maybe we need to shine with orginality as well. And keep your fingers off that IBIS 🙂
  5. Holy crap. Not only for the rumour but it gave a heureka moment. Off to the eoshd challenge thread. Thanks, Andrew 🙂
  6. Tested the S1 before using it for a more elaborated project, running more than 2hours with a USB powerbank in 30 degree Celsius recording 4K 10bit h265. Easy, not breaking a sweat.
  7. I hope you´re doing very good and everything is fine! Thank you very much for uploading so much test footage. It is a parade of nerd heaven!:) Is this external 10bit 422? My harddrives are bursting from footage at the moment, so how much data are the files? @mercer Wha?t about some footage of your cat? You would give Mattias Burlings Gunpowder a good run for the money. What´s your cats name, for a start?:) cheers
  8. @BenEricson I loved your skater piece, which you shot on the F3 and on 16mm. Which parts of the footage were shot with what camera though! They intercut so seamlessly. Aweas some colour. The example you posted above does not look as awesome like yours colourwise, imho. Another example of stunning colour, even within the Fuji like greenish palette. Always associated Fujifilm with maginficienat greens. Hopefully there will be a project soon where I can put this camera to test!
  9. @Andrew Reid I read it. As a non native speaker and relative stranger to Toneh and Peter and other youtubers I didnt get it. I love your content much more than discussing the content of Toneh, Peter and the others too much. I appreciated your head articles about the heating issues and the PR stunts by youtubers. The Toneh one is too confusing and insider stuff for me. I didnt quiet get it. Like I said, I rather follow your editorials than these youtubers. Thanks for pointing out the issues and for showing the lack of logic of some of these sales persons! I would just not suggest to give them more attention than needed nor more forms of literal expressions. They don´t provide enough fodder for an entire beautiful series of biting and entertaining satire. Your head articles before this Toneh piece were already perfect to me.
  10. @Danyyyel I think S1H and S1 are used on many productions. You just don´t see these productions with Lumix tags. Professionals sometimes do not communicate their camera brands. Nothing shall distract from the message of their customers. GH5 the same. GH5 is still going strong. G100 or whatever it is called is a joke of course. F3, I love you mentioning this beautiful letter- number- combo. 🙂
  11. Dunno, Jared Polins´sound changed. He now sounds like a news anchor from a major TV station. I can hardly take this kinda sound of voice and intonation. No matter, if CNN, Fox, or Oprah- if one considers her news as well, all the same. 🙂 Andrew and hopefully otheres who follow his example in the camera game will find a new audience I am sure. Just like people get disgusted by the hyterical hyperbole of news anchor psychos. Jareds motto and credo was cool, now it´s too hot like an R5 with more than 1 mio hyperboled subs.
  12. If you like parody, you like cheesy fun. I loved the ad. Dunno why. I should ask the gods of Olymp. Tomorrow at dawn.:)
  13. That´s why you are called photographer-AT-LARGE 🙂
  14. Ah, ct, they even had their own tv show. True journalists and nerds. Too bad they canceled the show due to cost reasons. Right... Public German TV going downhills since then. Only cool station left is arte. Dpreview made me search for the GH2 and made me find Andrew Reids website. Loved them back then, reading about the small four thirds dslrs form Olympus, then a lumix G1, which even had 720p video I think. Stopped reading them on a regualar base a few years ago after their relaunch.
  15. I don´t even want to say much about it. Still got my Pen EP2. Beautiful looking camera. EP5 looks like perfection! Olympus made by far the most beautiful cameras in the system cam world. I am not even talking about the analogue OM cameras nor Zuiko lenses. Sad, all I can say. Not much into posting ads but this one is too much cheesy fun. Video shot with the OMD EM5. Makes me want to be a hipster too 🙂
  16. @Andrew Reid Hallo Andrew, hope you enjoy the summer pleasures and don´t spend as much time with your social media device like we do. Not into italics or bold fonts, so here my question: Will you do your beautiful vignettes again, like you used to do back in your Berlin days? I know, Iggy Pop left the city 30 years ago. But he is still rockin. I loved and love your stuff like so many people do. You made the cams shine! Would love to see vintage classics make a comeback for these vignettes or even shortfilms, like 1DC or Digital Bolex. Your are right about putting tripods, monopods, walls and laps to good use instead of floating around like an ibis maniac.
  17. Or, if not on sticks, we just keep on doing handheld work like it has been done for decades, like in "Breaking the Waves". The handheld camera with eloquent framing rather than floating away from good framing by ibis´ mysterious forces. I trust you that you master this artform of camera operation. Seen it on your channel. Your GH5 video had spiffy operating as well fi. I don´t care for that camera anymore. Happy with my S1 and looking for those sweet lenses on ebay. Bought a 50 to 200 3.5-4.5 and 45 to 150 3.5! How sweet does that sound. Anyone in heat like an R5 already? 🙂 cheers
  18. Making beloved Panny look stupid. Yikes! 🙂 Well, Sony has given us beautiful underground hits like F3 and FS700, so I should be more thankful and accept their possible lead for the most awesome hybrid cam. Maybe it makes Panny gives the S1 a few meaty firmware updates. Perfect HD up to 60p would be awesome. GH5 is a HD monster. Back to R6, yes it exists. Thank you Canon, I filmed with your C100II. A very cool cam, best low bitrate 8bit, perfect HD and no overheating. 🙂
  19. Haha, yes, these FD adapters are quirky. Even the awesome one I got for my S1 from Cieco from Ebay, who uses another aproach without turning a ring on the adapter. Instead you align your lens to one of two dots and turn it to the other one and then the ring of the FD lenses needs to be turned. Funky, still much more solid and a bit less confusing. These FD beauties are worth the trick though. 28mm 2.8 one of the best lenses for indoor filming. Outdoors I have not been so lucky, maybe because of the reflecting surfaces of the adapter I used back then of mft. Back to bmp4k, you need to film some faces with your set up. Slowmo, bro, hair in the wind:) Cam tests are the realf films for camlovers! 🙂 cheers tasty. watching forward to seeing that cat in action!
  20. So many great suggestions for the interview. Awesome, cannot wait to read this tasty treat! My selfish wish would be a firmware update for the S1 giving us perfect HD just like the GH5 and 10bit 422 for the 4k 50p! That would make the S1 the perfect cam of its generation. Common, Panny, if GH5 has perfect HD resolution, your mega flagships S1 and S1H must have it. Especially the S1, my S1, you know 🙂
  21. Not necessarily. GH2, GH3 , GH4, G7, G6 all had pixelbinning and produced very beautiful HD. Better than from 1:1 readout. So if well done, it indeed should not be bad at all but rather mouthwatering. It would be like a mini c300mkII if anything else is good and if overheating will be not an issue.
  22. @Antoin e Hey, I meant, I was taken by the beauty of your footage with the F3, motion, tones and the whole canvas. Nicely done. Thank you very much for posting! This thing in 444 indeed seems to be a beast unleashed. Cannot wait to test it myself some time soon hopefully. I found some footage of its internal 8bit 420 SLOG. The seller left some on his car. I was rather impressed. Best implementation of 8bit Log I have seen. A contender to the internal CLOG of the C100 i/ii. One thing to consider is its best WB mode. Think it was 3200K. Google will tell and Alister Chapman. 🙂 Now, if you would still find that beautiful footage of yours for us to grade, please don´t hesitate to drop us some! @TheRenaissanceMan cheers
  23. Image quality of S1 is astonishing in VLOG and 10bit. Unparalled until now in a Hybrid. AF for video fans look somewhere else. Imagelovers and filmmakers should check it out. Sensor of z6, s1/h, a73 has been mentioned a lot of times to be the same by Sony @Super8 don´t be sold unless you have done some filming with it. Anything else is second hand knowledge. Just like mine. We are always grateful for ones own footage. You can check out some test footage by me in the S1 thread. Back to R6, if it shoots hasslefree pixelbinned 24-50p 4K 10bit 422 with same usuability and roughness as S1, then we have an impressive contender. I´m interested to see how CLOG 1 holds up compared to VLOG. Cannot wait to see some tasty footage with the Canon. Great footage is a rather rare thing these days with these impressive hybrid cameras though. Like Leica owners taking pictures of flowers.
  24. @kye Editing, the menace of every no budget cinematographer 🙂
