  1. @kye great setup and lens. Should give you some impressive image quality. You can also play with the Gh5, with its 1.4 crop mode giving you Super 16 format plus 4K.
  2. @Geoff CB, thanks, Geoff. The BMD VA just looks so handy and perfect for the F3. Afaik, the F3 itselfs outputs 10bit 444 at the max? Here is a photo from Bens setup. The Video Assist also fits the width of the F3 very well at 5 inches diagonal.
  3. Some more awesome footage from our friend Ben Ericson. Too bad he sold it a few days ago. Great for the buyer though, I can say on the other side. Happy that I bought that camera. With the 1080p 5inch version of the Blackmagic video assist it is a beautiful looking and practical setup with even 60p. Took that inspiration from Bens setup. Now I will wait for a video assist for little money, so I dont have to lugg around my big Atomos Shogun.
  4. You rascal, I introduced the Kipon Baveyes to this forum. Bow your head to the king of this very post. I am also king of this sentence! @Andrew Reid, thank you for asking about the L-mount Speedbooster. Would love one for the 4K crop. Like androidlad stated, would be best to have one with stronger focal reduction thant the 0.71 version. That way speedboosted APSC would perfectly fit the full sensor FOV. Would also be interested to see the maximum image circle of FF lenses.
  5. @Andrew Reid Just a quick reply. They discuss some odds with testing method in the forum. Still, the Panasonic 10bit 150mbit codec is a feat, which has been treating filmmakers very well. Even pixel peeping professors like deezid found it to be impressive. Here is the link to the original test from Dec 2017, showing the qualities of this codec: https://www.agdok.de/de_DE/kameratest20172 A quick translate in deep l will do. I have been at Felix Trolldeniers grading suite once in Berlin, showing us footage on his color calibrated projector and screen. Really something. AG Dok did a screening at moviemento back then with their test results. Your friends at slashcam are really some kick ass people!
  6. @Andrew Reid Hallo Andrew, regarding slim but powerful codecs, slashcam has a nice article out. Their mates from AG Dok tested a variety of cameras for use in documentary enviroment. S1 and S1H with their 150mb 10bit Inter Codecs still impress on the codec side. As I am still without the update on my S1, I can only relate to that coming from my experiences with the GH5. That codec was mightily impressing me back then. Right now I am in prep for a short and pending between a few great cameras (no red nor arri though due to non budget and no sponsorship:). The problems are not in the cameras but in the pending:) Pending without sufficient prep so far. Wish me luck.:)
  7. @keessie65 lovely vacation and footage. camera still looking impressive too! Unterhofalm looking beautiful.
  8. So this leaves more attention for the famous EOSHD list of the less well known youtubers. Should become a sticky topic: https://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/35846-lesser-known-youtube-channels-people-should-know-about How about this guy. The Iggy Pop of youtube camera craze. Love the straighfowardness and his own kind of realness and also mellow cheesyness. Still plenty to see for the minute. Great entertainment and display of friendlyness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O6YuBixTPY
  9. As much as I love Panny cams, PannySVHS sounds funny when called by forum owner or forum members.:) Back then it was a kewl name due to my exitement about my Lumix G6, which I bought because of Andrews test calling it the GH2.5. I will think into this alias thing.:) What I was seeing is having a battery working down to around 25 percent within a week. On the day of powering down, shooting a few 1min clips and photos, having power down at 20 percent and then camera shut down. This happened to me twice in a row. Have not had the desire to touch the camera since then. GH5 would still be my recommendation no.1 for any Lumix hybrid shooter sofore. Different beast, awesome battery life, perfect mix of image quality, reliability UI, versatility, and so on. UI on the S1 I find to clusterd and one step too much of into to submenues. Battery metering should be perfect for a workhorse or professional camera! Other than that, awesome image even in 8bit, great mount and body and so on.
  10. Maybe too many Arri Skypanels in the mix giving that vibrant look:) The Cinderella Trailer lookss almost like it was for a video game. Thats on the small computer screen though.

Great idea. @heart0less Would love to see a tracking shot or dolly pushin like shot with it. Deep staging as well. Now I´m getting greedy:) Loved the shots from this thread in the anamorphic forum. Aweseome stuff: Btw, I would not have guessed that the test you posted above was with an Alexa Mini, but with a Fuji. All these affordable cameras put out an incredible image these days.
  12. I know. Have been preaching that too. Now, the thread above is really something. Cosimo is putting different anamorphics into one new housing. Results look beautiful. Would be awesome, if people feel encouraged again to post this kinda stuff on the main forum again or if it would find more traffic some way else.
  13. Thanx for pointing out this DP and director, later one did Whalerider. First female duo to do a zillion dollar Disney film.
  14. Always thought, a speedbooster for X-mount to EF has been out for a long time. Guess I was wrong. Now we wanna see some L-mount speedboosters for the FP and S1 cameras, please.:)
  15. Would love to see more cinematography with that combo: 35mm FF + Medium Format Speedbooster. It gives a much larger images circle than the Fuji GFX. Not seeing many examples other than quick tests. Good time to check out if Mattias has picked up on this again on his kewl youtube channel.
  16. @Snowbro Love your post above! Out of likes for today. Spending too much time on the net on my free day. cheers:) boss! Thx!
  17. @Andrew Reid 700 each, the Mamiya and the Pentax one. 105mm Pentax sounds like a legendary lens, since there is quiet a bit of legendary glass above 80mm focal length. I might surf flickr a bit now and my evening of lens nerdery is perfect. Just look at the images on Flickr and get a feel for the different lenses, Andrew. Not trying to sound patronizing, just cheering.:) It is way more than just simple math as we know.
  18. Holy. In the subforums are gems of threads to be found. You, who posted them are awesome! Would be great, if these gems would get more recognition from us! Also, Andrew bought some super lowfi lenses putting out an image punching way above their weight, like the Soligor 35 70 2.5-3.5. Maybe some of these topics could be part of the main forum rather than disappear in the subforums. I know, old discussion. Just sayin. Now, enjoy the images. By the way, I didnt understand any of the science of Cosimos post. Anyway.:)
  19. Awesome! Now if you could explain a bit more to the clueless:) Beautiful images. What camera did you use? Out of likes for today.
  20. My guess, you will still like the image and codec coming from this camera:)
  21. Thank you. I will have to hurry now.:) I am indeed sad that you have left Berlin. But you already know that. Cheers and Thanks!
  22. Muaha, that thread title is complimenting the video way too much, Andrew!:) I wouldnt bother with this kind of content. Don´t get caught up in this. I agree with your article, how dpreview is censoring content and eoshd. But dont waste more energy on that. It is not worth a bit. Your word and truth is out. Thats perfect. Now back to EOSHD! This is what counts. I was pretty disappointed by the video after the tasty thread title!
  23. f2.8 on speedbooster on 44x33 I would assume. More creamyness possibly due to lens construction and glass. Flickr might provide some great examples. I don´t know if there are third party lenses as well for the Pentax 645 mount. FOV of a 45mm 2.8 would be around 26mm eq. to 35mm FF, DOF eq. of 1.6. Summarized: the 45mm F2.8 on a 645 sensor gives an image like a 26mm f1.6 on 35mm FF. Maybe with tastier attributes and image though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentax_645#Lenses Alternative would be the Mamiya focal reducer. That way you could put a 80mm 1.9 on there giving you the eq. of 0.81 x 0.71 x 80mm = 46mm, with 1.1 DOF.
  24. Sigma Master 35 to 80? Had that one once for 5EU. But it was broke mechanically. Image was not master in my memory:) What shop, Andrew, what shop?:) I was thinking about the image circle of some of the 2x and 3x zooms and if mount would be changeable to Mamiya. That way one had a medium format zoom on the S1 with the Kipon Baveyes Focal Reducer. Imagine a 70-210 F3.5 zoom pushed by one stop of light transmission and giving fov eq. of 50 on 35mm FF!
  25. Now, for the next five years you might wanna buy that kippon speedbooster from fuji to Pentax 645 for the ultimate medium format look, giving you approximately 60mm equivalent of sensor width and 46mm in height. Thats 645 digital medium format for the next five years!:)
