  1. Their 45mm 2.8 L-mount lens looks beautiful. Saw some footage from the Sigma factories, which Andrew or someone else posted a few years ago. They handcrafted a huge lens with water. That image has since then put Sigma in my memory plus Kendy Tys videos with the Sigma 30mm 1.4. Search EosHD for him and you will see.
  2. Darn. Hard to say. I am not trying to make a wishlist.:) Okay, wishlist for S1: -25p in photomode -full height in 4 to 3 photo mode. -4k 50p with h265 10bit 420, same codec like the S1H after the VLOG update Questions: Why are the HD modes not as high resolving as the the perfect HD modes of the GH5? Is it possible to "cure" the power management issue of the S1 via firmware? Are there any awesome plans on taking advantage on the fast XQD memory card port of the S1? Does Panasonic have planned updates regarding higher bitrates and 10bit codecs for the S1 in the future? Thank you for such an awesome camera!
  3. After plenty of testing and even more after filming half of a shortfilm with it last week, S1 is here to stay. Here is a sample of lighing test and giving my beautiful 35 to 70mm zoom a good testrun wide open. Awesome lens and fantastic image quality on the S1. Filmed in 2.5 to 3.5 at 800iso, all lit with tungsten and two tungsten flavour leds plus one kinoflo. Filmed in both, full width and apsc mode.
  4. La Piovra! Most haunting score to one of the most legendary TV shows of all time.
  5. @IronFilm Spiffy! Thanks for showing! Good short. Efficient shotdesign. Well done. This thread is becoming classy and classic.:) Did you shot internally or to the monitor/recorder device in the pic- Samurai? I´m in my coma state, 3rd day now. So feeling better. It was a week hardcore prep and a week of hardcore filming. I was dp with another guy pluas gaffer at the same time and packing and doing cables and so on. And director was insisting on shots we already did before, triple coverage on some, little on others. But a blast. No budget project, with hopefully big cinema looks:)
  6. @IronFilm Tell us about it, David. I mean on dvxuser is a whole thread about the f3 only. It´s from an Australian filmmaker who got into depths of his two shortfilm projects. I think read a post of yours too in that thread. Now tell us about the project. Just had an 8 days project with 6 days of filming. I am recovering from it right now for three days now. So please drop some insights on that beautiful project and the situation of the disappearing sun in front of your beautifully shouldered F3. 🙂

    RED Komodo

Behave:) Dear forum friends, I really like you. Just that Komodo footage I have seen so far, not so much. Who is the youtuber Tim Daust whos videos have been posted on this page of the thread? He has only a few videos and all of them are Komodo.
  8. @IronFilm nice rig, especially for the monitor! Though you don´t seem to look happy about its weight.:) Still I am fascinated by this camera and cannot wait to put it to a useful test.
  9. I second that. Was doing a short with a powerbank in my pocket or hooked to a tripod. Camera loads slower than the speed it takes power while filming. So in between shots the battery can load from the powerbank. Not perfect but helpful. Just watch out the flimsy usb-c connection.

    Lenses

This is one of the coolest threads for photolenses on digital filmcameras on the web. I am always exited to read about your posts. It´s also cool to get answers to ones questions. Here is mine regarding the M. Holtze video above. What is revealing about it besides the advise to go the distance for pitches and to do testing ahead of the pitch? Footage seems tame to me and rather unspecific to the task of setting a 70ies mood. Maybe a large projecition of TV will reveal the use of the presented material to judge character and vintage flavour and consistent color rendition through the various primes? Thanks for putting this video up for discussion @kye
  11. David, you shot with it. You still have pictures of a rigged F3 for shoulder work? With my rigging skills and rigging stuff the cam is hugely out of balance with shaking parts. Not worth the effort. If on sticks it would do fine of course.
  12. How do you think does the 1DC codec compare to the super tiny 75mbit h265 on the S1? I am pretty amazed by the latter, though I was able to break it in Resolve. The 10bit 422 150mbit on the GH5 I couldnt break. So that one seems to be one of the best codecs regarding compression and size ratio.
  13. 🙂 I find it very heavy for shoulder work at the moment with my current rigging stuff. The monitor is very close to the eye. Putting the camera further away from the eye makes shoulder work impossible.
  14. That was my first thought too.:) Ironfilm you are a cool cat with a F3. Now, get a second one!:) Video is kinda starting off in a boring manner. Just finished zapping through it. Not interesting. Good thing I only zapped through this. Not many people will buy a F3 after watching this video. Would love them to buy them though and do charming short films with them.
  15. That would be awesome. Loved Geoffs beautiful colours in his shots. It is a bulky beast. If people buy them they must be very serious shooters. Would be fun to see an armada of them filming the heck out of them.
  16. S1, S1H, count me in. Wouldnt mind Cind D and HLG to VLOG conversion for free as well:) GHA for S1 I would buy if possible to transfer the high quality of the GH5 and BMPCC 4K versions. BM version looks esp spectacular!
  17. first music video, who cares! great music video! fits the music perfectly. besides that it is a showcase of cinematic talent behind and infront of the camera. colors, shot design, editing, rhythm within and between the shots, the whole experience, spiffy! A bit much grainyness sometimes for my taste, if digital. Who cares! Professional quality with a unique style and a unique video. Lovely.
  18. Hmm, would second that for a L to Mamiya 645 mount. Please! That would give the Kipon Baveyes some good companionship or not.:)
  19. I would NOT stay away from this great lens. My variante of it is beautiful, I cannot believe my eyes when coupled with my S1 and my GX85. As a photo lens it seems not sharp enough on a pixel level when wide open. As a film camera lens on a digital body- awesome rendering, fantastic colours except harsh backlight into the sun! By the way, that beauty starts at F2.5! Mechanically it is also a pure joy to use. Hanimex and Maginon are labels, not producers, just citing a bit of olypedia lens nerdom knowledge, if you allow.:) cheers
  20. @IronFilm 5000 running hours for 5000 bucks.:)
  21. Darn, this cam delivers with its tiny h265 75mbit flavour. Unbelieveable image quality for a codec like this. Shouldnt be that good! Battery life: Shot with it down to 40 percent. Next day turned the cam on and after pressing record it went down to 20 percent, which lasted me only a very few minutes of filming, 8bit 4k 50p really ran down these last 20 percent fast. I will keep the camera and will have to be equipped with three additional original batteries and an additional solid charging solution. Additional charger needs to be mechanically solid and especially not worse regarding charging than the cumbersome usb-charger-usb-box-cable-long-snake-solution.
  22. @tweak, some crazy ass rebels infront and behind that camera! Hard to believe. What was your taking lens?
  23. That´s a tricky one for professional projects or projects where others rely on dependable tools. @Geoff_L Thank you for your input! I will see what I will do with mine. Image and ergos and mount are just too good to let go. Will give me some thinking and maybe some tinkering, if I keep it. cheers
  24. @Cosimo, beautiful rendering of light. Now show us some moving images please, if you have a chance to. cheers
  25. @kye I think the Super 16 mode of the GH5 would be a good mate to your BMMCC, with 4K 10bit up to 30p. ETC HD 1 to 1 crop would be very noisy.
