  1. Matti should put up the link. It´s part of journalistic work. Tech journalism on youtube must include that high standard. Someone with a youtube account could remind him in a friendly manner. Engaging and friendly communication and exchange about kewl stuff is what we all enjoy. So Matti will to put up the link and quality content can find the people who deserve to read the info and newest facts.
  2. S5 is the entry model, so price will be lower. It has VLOG and all the 10bit codecs plus 10bit in 4K60p. As a S1 owner i will have to pay another 200EU for that, still not having 10bit 4K60. I would´nt want the 4K60 in 10bit if HD quality would be close to the stellar HD quality of the GH5, which it is by far not. All that if specs and rumors are for real, of course.
  3. Well, supposely the specs are real, the S5 is better regarding codecs and VLog profile out of the box. Firmware update for S1 or information about it would be very appreciated. Would be a bummer to buy the VLog update right before a free one. Would be wasted 200 squids! My work with the S1 is 90% video. So S5 looks more promising to me at the moment than S1, if usuability is similar to the S1 regarding video.
  4. Thank you. That sounds like a solution. Finally! 🙂 I was thinking about that a few hours before I read your answer but didnt follow through on the thought. Fascinating how our brains work sometimes.:) Which specific M to Konica AR adapter do you use? Novoflex or less pricey brands? What mounts and lenses do you adapt to it? I am asking, because I have a history with adapters like many of us, dealing with different qualities and experiences. The lens I want to adapt weights about 1.1kg / 2.5 pounds. It´s a big lens with 82mm filter thread. I will have to use it with lens support I am pretty sure, also as both adapters will be similar in thickness. I rent some Contax Zeiss lenses once in a while for m43 on a EF speedbooster. The C/Y to EF adapter is pretty thin and is glued to the m43- EF adapter. I think with similar thickness of both adapters, stability is a bit weaker. I have a FD to L-mount adapter that is beautifully made. I posted a picture here on the forum before. It´s made by Cieco7 and sold on ebay. I asked him about a Konica - Lmount variante. He has not answered yet. But maybe we will get a beautyfully crafted Konica to L-mount adapter some time. There might be a way to modify the Konica lens to EF mount. That way I would have a mini varicam with built in ND and a cine quality zoom lens. Guess what Konica lens I am talking about.:)
  5. I think, the S1 looks like the poor relative to the S series, being without the nice codecs of the S5 and the 10bit 4k60p. Instead S1 owners have to pay 200EU for the software update but without 10bit 4K60p! Question is, selling the S1 now or buy the update? Some cheap used S1s will appear on Ebay soon, I think, if specs of S5 are true and if camera is without caveheats. Why the name S5 anyway- to compliment the name logic of the GH5? Makes the S1 look even more like treated as the poor relative by Panasonic. Of course S1 is still a great camera. We will know more soon. No reason to complain, just sayin.
  6. @BTM_Pix Thanks for posting. Unfortunately its a KR mount, similar to Pentax K. Until now I have not seen any Konica Ar adapters for L mount cameras. Hopefully that will change some time. Some awesome lenses out there. Like the beautifully made 35 to 100mm 2.8, which I bought two weeks ago. I am surprised that none of the S1 owners on this forum wonder why the 10bit codecs and VLOG come with the S5 out of the box and the S1 does not offer them without the VLog update and even with it still no 4k60p 10bit
  7. @newfoundmass great find. Thanks for posting! Now all I need is an adapter for Konica AR mount to L mount! A shame there is not one out yet.
  8. It has 10bit 422 and even 4k60p 10bit 420 APSC. Much better than S1 without VLog update. So S1 is the entry level cam for video. 1300USD for the S5? Maybe better to sell mine now and to get a S5 later one instead of buying the Vlog update for 200EU! I think, Panasonic should give the S1 the update for free, if 10bit 4K60 included even more awesome. I have a S1 without the Vlog update and I am sofore filming with the slim 75mbit 10 bit 420. It is pretty nice indeed with its HLG. It is very bad on evenly coloured plain surfaces with super nasty artefacts and blocks if graded a bit stronger. So best to do a test before using it for professional shoots. Other than that it has great colour and gradation. It is better in the dark as well the 8bit 100mbit h264.
  9. Exactely. They should give the S1 the update for free. Plus th 200mbit 10bit in 4K60. Anything else makes me rather want to sell the S1. Even moreso, if the HD out of the S5 is perfect like it is from the GH5. For the S5, no 24p mode in 10bit in the rumored spec list.
  10. Sheesh, Panasonic should give the S1 a free update with the codec and recording options of the S5. Otherwise it feels pretty phoney. At least the VLog 10bit update should be free of cost.
  11. Hallo Friends, a grim light test for a Grimms fairytale. Midsommer midday sun test. Brutal for no grip shooting day. Filmed with HLG 75Mbit 10bit 420, 6000K. Looking forward to shooting 422 VLOG some day. VLog L did pretty good on the GH5 for me two years ago.
  12. Still have another premium kit to make one of us happy? Not me, of course, I would not buy another camera this year. Just asking. 🙂
  13. Awesome! Congrats. Looking forward to some beautiful BMMCCMOJO!:) Interested in your rigging solution and findings about handling as well. I was obsessed with this camera for a while. Then I found one couple months ago with all bells and whistles, small rig cage, tophandle, hdmi and cable clamp, NPF battery adapter, 3D printed custom stuff, wooden side grip, Metabones Speedbooster, RAWLite oplf and ir cut filter. All for 900 USD. A great deal, which I let go. Still it seemed a lot of money for me back then. Still does, though it was a fantastic offer.

They go for some nice money. Selling it could fund a Samyang 135mm F2.0:) @noone This lens comes under different labels such as Weltblick, Porst, Beroflex. Just like Samyang going under Walimex, Rokinon... There are a few jokes about this bulky beauty on the German gentleman forum. They are not gentle about some lenses, after trying so many of them.:) Now, very exited to see that Promura to see some light. Would be cool to see some footage, if you can find time. You sound like some of these German gentlemen lens afficiandos:) I dare you to not mean it as a joke! 🙂

Right! For FF the Walimex 135mm F2.0 sounds right for rather little money. Not up for battle though:) Such a kewl review for that beautiful Voigtlaender. Doubt the Samyang has a review going like that. Vintage lovers, beware of the vintage Porst 135mm 1.8. The people on a German gentleman forum put out a warning for it due to its lack of quality. They call it a doorstopper for a reason.
  16. Wouldnt mind owning a beautiful D16 myself neither:) Woundnt mind it as well, if the tone of this discussion would become more mellow again. Towards Jinni, coming from you. And towards you, coming from Ed. And between eachother. I always start to leave threads which turn unfriendly.
  17. Last one ending in one hour on Ebay Italy. Sending you a PM in a minute. @IronFilm

I will rewatch it with the swells and peaks.:) Seriously, what an awesome review was that! Even without sound. 🙂
  19. Welcome to the S1 craze.:) Lowlight is A7III level with better codec. With the 10bit 422 Vlog update- no contest. I shot half of a shortfilm with the S1 paired to a C300MKII, that without the update. I was using the superslim 75mbit h265 10bit 420 codec in HLG. Gee, is there a way to write that in a nice proper way?:) The h265 is amazingly good, except on evenly lit single coloured surfaces where it shows artefacts easily when trying to break it in grading. Have not bought the VLOG update. But coming from various GH5 projects, the 150 mbit 10bit 422 is a fantastic codec.
  20. @thebrothersthre3 With bank transfer (wire) in Europe, money is gone. Transfer takes one to two days in Europe. None of the sellers offered Paypal. None of them answered, if they would accept Paypal. The current S1H auction only offers bank transfer. With that, money would be gone, if account was hacked or if sale was a scam. Last weeks S1H auction offered Amex, Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer. Yesterdays S1 auction has bank transfer as only option. Since all three of them stole text and pictures from US auctions, I wish the buyers best of luck.
  21. Hallo friends, As a S1 owner I am longing for the awesome features of a S1H. This forum doesnt help it otherwise.:) So I keep browsing the bay for used cameras to show up for attractive prices. This week three auctions turned up, two for S1H, one for S1, all of them with different locations in Italy. None of my questions regarding payment procedure and shipping were answered. Two of them have feedback as buyers only, none as sellers, one of them only a very few as seller with all of them over one year old. All three of them have reused and stolen text and photos from three other original auctions from the US. I checked that, because I was suspicious of the supposely great deals and sofore I used ebays function of showing past auctions. So watch out a little bit in search for a good deal and of course happy bidding with valid auctions. Most of them are legit but some of them might not be. Edit: One of the S1H auctions is still running til tomorrow. So, evaluate the points above.
  22. @QuickHitRecord great share and post! I was reading through this a few months ago and downloaded the film just to fancy myself buying this camera very soon. Now this beauty is waiting for a 5inch Blackmagic VA HD. Hopefully they show up for little money. So far no luck the last couple weeks on ebay. @IronFilm You just want me to buy a second one, you rascal. 🙂

@Video Hummus I feel you. That 60mm looks like the best resolving of the bunch. Holy, what quality at 0.95! Makes me want to give my 90mm f2.5 Vivitar 1 the time it deserves. I second Jordans post, what a review that was. I watched it without sound. Fantastic! Thanks for posting!
  24. Dang! These look fantastic @Geoff CB. No 2 with the lady! Signature colours. Did you go by Ben Ericsons suggestion of using SLog or by Renaissance Mans variant? ProresLT, that means not even in its 444 mode, wow! Love your shots @Antoin e Looking forward to your video! Love the natural light and mood.
  25. @HockeyFan12 I can shoot in 18MPixel photomode in ratios of 4 to 3 and 3 to 2. Sensor area of both is not full height nor width of the sensor but with much, much more estate than Super 35 and even moreso than APS-C. No extra IBIS settings. It then records in 200mbit 10bit 420 in h265. That´s 30p only though. You can also film in 8bit 60p, but only with 8MP of an APS-C sensor area. Would be really awesome to have a 25p option for photo mode. That would be a fantastic suggestion to Panasonic, plus perfect GH5-like-HD for the S1. 🙂 @Andrew Reid
