So NO IBIS with the SPEEDBOOSTER?! That. Is. Disappointing.

That's not what he said. He said that in order for Dual IS to work, you need to use Lumix lenses. IBIS will still work with everything else. It's like my GX80, it won't do Dual IS with an Olympus 12-100 but i'm sure getting really stable footage with my Olympus 25.

Sorry, but If you read my post, I never said the GH5 is shiite. I have owned four or five Panasonic cameras, and may even end up getting the GH5. My post was aimed at fanboys who keep shouting from the rooftops how great the GH5 will be, or how it will trounce the competition. Panasonics are known for their UI, ergonomics, price, reliability and video-centric features. Panasonic is not esteemed for their zippy AFC, superb dynamic range, low light sensitivity or color science. Like everyone else here, I am hoping the GH5 is all we want it to be. But I can say with (almost) absolute certainty that: the rain in Spain falls mainly in the plains. Wait, what I meant to say, is that the GH5 sensor will not have better than 12 stops dynamic range; that it will not outrun the incredibly quick AF of the Fuji; nor will it in a million years have the magnificent color science of the X Trans sensor. But, hey, I could be wrong. They elected Trump, didn't they?

A waveform monitor? Sign me up. :)

Quite right, the "shit" comment was my own to highlight the fact that we know nothing of its performance until it's released. I get your point now, you don't like the fanboy parade, and i agree.

The Fuji will still have superior dynamic range, vastly better low light performance, faster and more accurate AFC and exquisite color, as well as cleaner 4K than the GH5.

Can you share the files from the GH5 that you used to make this comparison?

Albert ( @Brother ) traded in the G7 for the GX80! Of course he had to go and get one of the sickest lenses out there for it.

Indeed i did! I thought that the GX80 would make a perfect B-cam for the GH5. But who knows, the GH5 might be the worst camera ever, in that case i'll keep my GX80 and be happy with it :) Oh, the Olympus 25/1.2 is amazing by the way!

Good to know. I have tested cinelikeD and now am messing around with natural. I also have the nx500, you used to have the nx1, right? Do you like the g7 better? I use only vintage lenses and I think they pair better with the g7 than they do with the nx500. Of course, b&w on the nx500 is incredible. Anyway, good work, I look forward to your next piece.

Not better, just different. I've come to like lightweight and small cameras because they can follow you everywhere. Really miss the slow motion on the NX1!

Love your work, Brother!!! I have been following your stuff for awhile now. I picked up a G7 not too long ago myself and it is an amazing camera. Would love to read a review and some tips on how you set her up and make her shine. I'm sure others would as well!!!

Thanks a lot! The setup process isn't much at all, standard profile with sharpness and noise reduction set to -5, no other changes. The rest is done in post with some help from Visioncolor Impulz, lumetri color panel and curves.

  8. What settings did you have in ClipToolz? Also did you run it in compatibility mode + administration rights checked?

Prores 4k 422 LT, but i tried most of them. Yes, ran it with both compatibility mode (win 7 + 8) and administration rights with no success. Most likely there's something wrong with my system since no one has reported anything similar to this. I mean, it's a pretty strange crash.

  9. Tested ClipToolz Convert V2 and it was on par in terms of speed with RockyMountains Converter in my unscientific test. It didn't add brightness or lowered the contrast as RMC does. Really strange thing, clips converted with ClipToolz crashed my Premiere when applying a curve. Don't know what causes the problem since clips converted in RMC with the same settings works fine. ClipToolz + Windows 10 = bad date?

Haven't bougt Andrew's guide yet but i'm considering it. Grading Gamma DR works great but it's always fun to try new things.

Will definitely keep an eye for a ClipToolz update!

  10. My guesstimate is $1500-$2000 since it, with the information available today, seems to be targeted at the same market as Sony AX100 and FZ1000. I quite like the option to choose my own glass but it's still an interesting camera if they include some pro features and we don't have to wait for Magic Lantern ;)

If target market guess is correct it sure is an interesting choice of form factor.

  11. Shot with Samsung NX1, 30/2, 45/1.8 and 50-200/4-5.6. A shoulder rig was used for most of the shots, especially handy when using the 50-200 @ 200. I used Gorilla Grain 4k for the first time but not I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with the settings i used. More testing is needed. Edited, stabilized and graded in Premiere.
