Holy.... I never thought I would be considering a M4/3 camera. But this literally ticks ALL the boxes for me except the sensor size.
Edit: If this comes in under $1500 I'm buying it.

The specs seem INSANE. Either it's a HUGE JOKE, or Olympus will effectively bring the end of a few DSLR makers.

At least that's one thing that Canon did better in the 5DsR, 1DX2 and 5D4:  You can create your own menus and register anything you like to new own menu pages.
Oddly enough, in the Sonys you can nearly assign any function to any external button, while in the Canon they only allow a random selection of functions on a random number of buttons.
Let's hope that at least by the year 2020 we all laugh about these stupid middle age times when Toyko engineers still were trapped in their limited 20th century logic, and finally all manufactures do offer unlimited possibilities.

And having to leave movie mode if you want to set white balance manually, now that's just absurd (and very time consuming).

The XAVCS internal is a shame, but necessary because Intraframe would probably be impossible in a body that is much smaller than a Canon 1D series. At least there is HDMI clean out. The 4K downres from 8K makes it sound like a Sony F65 for your pocket!

First camera with revamped Sony menus. Looks more like a Canon menu system. Better grouping as well.

It is quite deceptive marketing if it's not for video, since they presented it as a step on the road to 8K video in 2020.

Promoting hate, however, causes suffering. Hating someone is like taking poison and expecting to hurt the other person. The only person hurt is the hater, mentally and physically: stress hormones damage healthy tissue, reduce immune function, etc.
Additionally, look at all the information about what is going on, from both sides, and from other countries around the world if you'd like to get a better understanding of what is really happening. Do you want to be a leader helping to heal yourself, your community, and the planet, or do you want to be a slave-pawn in someone else's selfish game?
We need to focus on loving ourselves, those around us, and everyone else around the planet, and holding those accountable who are promoting division and hate, replacing them with more enlightened leaders.

The colors are totally different. The focal lengths aren't even the same either. Weird comparison video.

Given my love for the Tokina 28-70 (Angenieux design) This lens is a dream, would shoot an entire film on just this.

I know that this is probably a great lens with a good price for a cinema zoom, but for a similar price those new Angenieux zooms seem like a much better proposition.

"Sony really should make it easier to find information and LUTs for grading log material from their cameras. When I first started using the A7s I couldn't find a proper slog2 to Rec709 LUT anywhere that worked correctly. I spent countless hours looking for a neutral converstion LUT and I knew exactly what I was looking for. The slog curve is not the problem the problem is the sgamut color space that is the default on the camera when shooting in log. That colorspace must be converted to Rec709 via a LUT or color transformation matrix otherwise you can get funky colors."
This is bizarre. There is no default gamut. Sony supplies some example "Picture Profiles." One of them happens to use the Slog gamma curve and SGamut. Those "profiles" are just examples, for beginners to try out. You are free to combine the log gamma and the REC709 color space or any of many combinations of curves and color settings. And within any of those there are multitudes of tweaks - knee setting, sharpening, etc. It is ok to say one has a hard time getting the color one wants from a Sony camera. It is another to blame it on Sony, given the number of options it provides.
On a more positive note: Sony Catalyst Browse will create a LUT that converts the combination of the log gamma curve and SGamut (or any of its combos) to full REC709 automatically, which you can use in your favorite editing software. It is free.  

In one case you have 256 possible values of the r/g/b, with the other you have 220 (shades of r/g/b), if it's worth using depends on your needs.
(no idea why you would want to limit the Log LUT to 16-235, which means the LUT clips everything below 16 and above 235, forcing you to record with more limited tonal resolution)

I made a LUT for my own use, here it is with some additional warming:


Camera setting:
WB: Auto WB G:1 B:0 A:2 M:0
Color: Red:x0.87 Green:x0.90 Blue:x1.00
Saturation: -3 / Sharpness: -10 / Contrast: -5 / Hue: 0

Usually I put a LUM-curve (to adjust black level, contrast and highlights, if needed) and above (next) the LUT (which you can adjust for temperature, sat to taste)

Gorgeous color and look, horrific rolling shutter (yes I'm obsessed with this issue, but it really stands out in this dog clip.)

They note at the end of the video they are shooting in FF mode, which is worse low light performance. I also think they screwed up the white balance, bad representation.

Why? It only does 1080p over HDMI.
The A7rII looks like it was in FF mode, S35 is much cleaner, and would still have less of a crop than the other two.
