  1. Hey andrew thank you for the quick review. Question: Can the Video Assist down convert the 4K to 1080p? Wish someone came out with a recorder that down converted a 4K signal to 1440p or 2.5K, would offer a little bit more breathing room on 1080/2K projects without having to deal with the 4K data load. Also, why the hell don't all these monitors come with locking mechanism's for the HDMI ports? It's the #1 reason I don't use them on shoots unless I'm locked to a tripod.

I really dig this, distortion but it's controlled on the face.
  3. Currently field testing a A7r 2 to buy as a video/stills camera. Giving it a go after they fixed the overheating issue. Love it so far. Stories like this make me very nervous. I've been using the NX1 and the only issues I've had are it freezing with Lexar cards, other than that they have been rock solid. And my D750 which I'm looking to replace has given me 0 issues.
  4. My main issue is not how the program performs, it's how it organizes it's files. With premiere know exactly where my project files are and my temp media, Resolve's opening projects menu leaves me frustrated.
  5. Yes Edit: Whoops, huh I swear it used to only be 1080..
  6. On timeline, but not on export.
  7. Yeah it is a concern sometimes. I hit the 70 limit once while recording a concert but thankfully stopped it in time. Would be nice if the hack had an option to automatically stop it at 70
  8. Definitely effects playback and rendering with codecs that utilize GPU acceleration. For H265 files from my NX1 if I ad Film Convert I cannot playback in real time with edits with a single card, but it plays back smooth with two. Rendering h264 time drops by about ~1/3 with the second card so there are benefits. Resolve runs way better with a second card and has full SLI support. Updates to OS X can brick these systems, it's fine for someone who does office work that wants to use the mac interface but I HIGHLY do not recommend doing this for a setup you want working 100% of the time. I did it for about half a year and just got sick of maintaining the setup and just went fully PC.
  9. I'm running dual GTX 960 4GB paired with a i7-5820K with 32 gb of ram. Has played every compressed codec I've thrown at mostly in real time with a grade on it. I'm using a LG ultrawide 3440x1440 and I LOVE editing on it. AMD Just announced the 480, low power, plenty of compute performance and 8gb of VRAM for $225. Comes out end of June. Get that and the best processor you can afford and you should be set. I would not spend the extra dough on a mac unless you already edit in Final Cut Pro. It's great to be able to upgrade your own system now rather than buying a new computer every couple of years. Though some love the simplicity of a pre-built system.
  10. Yeah pretty much, seem to get better color in camera than trying to shoot it in flat and adjusting in post. Plus is makes for a much faster workflow. Mostly shoot Gamma Normal, Vivid setting, -2 sat, -9 sharpening, +6 black level now. Also gave up shooting 0-255, it gives a tiny bit more latitude, but I just became sick of adjusting every clip I brought into my editor.
  11. You want to shoot uncompressed 8K? Good luck on storing that.
  12. NX1 is the best under ISO 600, but above that it really belongs to the sony's.
  13. Alexa is still king. For workflow, for image, they just can't be beat.
  14. There is more than one person doing the hacks, and the person in charge of creating a great package of them decided to drop the bitrate hacks and memory hacks by Vasile to update to newest firmware. The latest hack package DOES NOT WORK on 1.4 only on 1.41. Meaning that if I want all the features I have to deal with two different hacks on one camera that each require different firmware to run. NOT an ideal.
  15. Yeah this pulling the bitrate from the hack to support the newest firmware is not good, splitting an already small community up in to two groups
  16. The 85mm is not worth it, focusing is bad. 50-150 is incredible and well worth the cost.
  17. Ronin is a masterpiece that few appreciate because of it's length. Car chases and gun fights are great and shot wide. Die Hard is Die Hard, but I also love Die Hard with a Vengeance. Mission Impossible 4 (Imax was incredible) Still to this day LOVE The Matrix. Amazing action, great pacing.
  18. If your monitor only has VGA, get a new monitor if you are doing color work. Or trust only the scopes.

Whoops, forgot you have to raise the level from 4.1 to 5.1 before changing frame size. Sorry about that.

After selecting CBR there should be a slider underneath you can drag to adjust bitrate. For 2560x1440 you need to uncheck the box beside 1920x1080 and manually enter in the numbers.
  22. I'd been getting consistent card errors on the NX1 with Lexar, while my "slower" old Sandisk cards had been rock steady. Picked up 2 Sandisk Extreme Pro's 256gb cards, hopefully they keep working flawlessly.

Vivid -2 Saturation +6 Black Level. It really is a far superior image than shooting in a fake flat profile by lowering contrast. Love shooting with the lower apertures in decent light. Also wider lenses shine, and also help with RS.

Great stuff kidsrevil. Sorry to go against your name with this one, grab from a quick film parody I shot yesterday. Voigtlander 20mm 3.5. Color is right off the NX1, just added some grain.
