  1. Wasn't harping on your language, I was actually physically threatened by some people over this.
  2. Yes if you use a stabilized lens, it's great with the lens you mentioned. But I use mainly adapted glass. If it had a stabilized sensor I might find it okay, but it's past the point of acceptable for me with my existing lenses. You might get away with it if you have a shoulder rig, but definitely not bare handed.
  3. I wasn't threatened for showing the Hillary film. It was Inequality for All: See above. I honestly think it is getting worse than previous elections, the volume of insults being thrown around by everybody is insane. "Hey did you hear about the ground war in Syria in which the U.S. is funding a democratic based uprising and the Russian government is offering ground support to the country leaders?" 9/10 people that I interact with on a daily basis don't know about this at all. Because actual political talking points no longer matter.

Gave the 24-70 GM a go this past weekend. Pretty impressed. Great rendering and incredibly sharp. AF was great overall except it seems it's bad for about 30 seconds after turning on the camera. Annoying when trying to conserve battery. Shot on the a7r2 with custom settings in Full Frame mode.
  5. Yes, I could not stand it. If the sensor was stabilized it could at least mitigate the problem. My stabilized lenses on the NX1 helped with the problem there, but it's worse on this camera and even with a shoulder rig it showed up plain as day in even slow pans.
  6. Yes for 1080p. The 4K is unusable unless in an interview setting.
  7. I tried the a6300 for a weekend and used to own the a6000. I would say the video is on par between the two, but the s-log options of the a6300 make it much better for shooting.

    Cost? I might be interested.
  9. Yeah I'm looking forward to reviews on those lenses, if the performance is even decent they will be an instant buy for me.
  10. I have a story for you all: I work in a small non-profit independent movie theater. We saw a trailer for documentary on the economy that was well reviewed and booked it. Not thinking anything was amiss, just booking the documentary because it was well reviewed. What followed was a certain political party in town going absolutely ballistic. Calls came in that they would boycott our theater, one of our employees walked out (they came back, but would only work for us, but would never see a movie in the theater again...way to hold to you principles.), the leader of the party said in a public email to all their members that we were in cahoots with the other political party, that we had talked to party leaders and we should have our non-profit status revoked. Emergency board meeting was called, to give them credit, everyone on the board took a stand "Fuck em', show the film!" It was attended by every single board member and they told all their friends to go, it was the highest grossing documentary we have ever shown. It did far better than it would have if no fuss had been made. We threatened to take the party representative to court for slander unless he retracted his statement. They agreed, but only if we showed a political film from their side! During which a political candidate spent 20 minutes talking about the bad things the other party had done before the film started. Now when people come in asking for documentaries that have even the slightest political ties (most requests come from this party) we tell them we are never showing political documentaries ever again. People are no longer rational about these things, cannot take critism, and have created a us vs. them mentality. It's going to get really ugly before it gets better.
  11. It's useless unless your holding the camera steady. Wish they had a menu item for how intense the effect is. Or that you could set the focal length like with the a7r 2
  12. If your looking for a cheap awesome 35mm get the canon FD 2.8. Cheap as hell with great rendering but sharp as a tack.
  13. Single most important question for me.
  14. Now they are reasonably priced for what they are.
  15. Oh thank god, renting it now to see if I can use it as a second to my a7r2.
  16. ...and more unstable than either of the standard options. I did this for awhile until an OSX update made my sound card stop working, with the only fix being a hardware update.
  17. I'd also say buy an F3 and rent the best glass you can afford. Or buy a KiniMINI 4K and again rent the best glass you can afford.
  18. Again: The FF mode in the A7r 2 is great, it has plenty of detail (~3K/3.5K), almost no moire or aliasing, better RS than the A7s 2, and is clean up to iso 3200.
  19. Full sensor readout doesn't count for jack in my book unless the rolling shutter is decent. I always use the FF mode on my A7r2 because while it's slightly softer the RS is much better than the S35 mode.
  20. With those sigma lenses, Nikon all the way.
  21. Some good samples here, skin tone is great. The video's A6300 sections are TERRIBLE, Jordan needs to start using LUT's with his S-log footage.
  22. Screen it for the girlfriend. Then private vimeo link to fellow media people. Girlfriend first, because she is brutally honest, fellow filmmakers do not want to offend.
  23. Honestly this "Go to his house and ruin his social life" stuff is very extreme for the crime that the rest of the family probably is not aware of and didn't involve physical or personal harm. Also evidence etc.
