  1. I tried to buy the exact same item from him. I declined. Damn shame and sorry you got hit with it instead. " Hello Geof. How can I calculate shipping? I am afraid the shipping would be as high as 100% of my asked price thus I'd be selling it for free, or else I'd have to increase the price 50-100% on you to get my asked payment. Which wouldn't be very good for you. (If shipping is low enough, it'll cost you as I mentioned 300$ total, shipping on me. Plus you certainly qualify for the EOSHD 50$ discount so comes to 250$ total, A steal. If you shipping cost reproaches 100% (250$), I wouldn't be able to sell it for lower than 250$ + 125$ (50%) = 375$ (Still a good deal for you for the RG version with witness marks but a bad deal for be as that way I get 50% of my asked price, effectively selling it for 125$, but that's hopefully not the case) Shipping through UPS seems to be the only available option in Egypt and Western Union Money Exchange seems to be the only way to receive my payment here. So we'll have to use these. Thanks Ebrahim Saadawi +201144173159 ebrahimsaadawi@gmail.com Cairo, mansoura, Egypt " "It IS a hit since I recently paid 599$ + 150$ shipping for it. But it has no locally customer, zero, and I have zero need for it. Another member offered 350$ to compensate for the 100$ shipping cost. So will go through with that. If it it's not sold i'll let you know. thanks geoff. "
  2. You're right. I did say that it's much better but for video use it is actually as you said is not that much worse. Photo wise it is a significant difference.
  3. Every discussion between the two cameras have people falsely stating the a7 R 2 is unusable in full frame, when it really is not. It makes people reading threads think that they shooting full frame on the a7r 2 is not even an option.
  4. Yes but that does not mean you have to shoot in that mode in every situation. You can get great stuff out of S-LOG, but if you want a quick look for interviews or other things with a quick turn around shoot in one of the other modes.
  5. I never understand this. Just because you shoot on Sony does not mean you have to shoot in S-LOG. Do people shooting the C100 always shoot in C-log? No they shoot in Wide DR or other modes as well. It's for if your using a colorist in post. Just shoot in Cine 1 and get a good look out of camera with some flexibility in post.
  6. Speaking as someone who has switched from a NX1 to an A7r 2. Don't switch systems right before shooting something. The NX1 handles far differently than other cameras and it does get great results in interview situations. Plus that codec is helpful if you can edit it natively because with a RED/Blackmagic your going to be dealing with way bigger file sizes. Am I saying you shouldn't switch? No, I'm just saying I would wait until after this interview project to do so.
  7. FF mode on the a7R II is very underrated. Under 3200 ISO I prefer it over S35 mode because it has far better rolling shutter performance. FF A7s 2 RS = 30 ms FF A7R 2 RS = 20 ms http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! It's just a bit soft, more like 3K than 4K. Video AF on the A7R 2 is vastly superior to the a7s 2. I honestly think people should go for the a7r 2 unless you need the S-LOG monitoring features of the A7s 2. Also for people that want to film in the dark, use a speed booster and use the S35 mode. I would grab it at that price.
  8. I buy legally unless it's not an option. For example I was thinking about how much I would enjoy watching The Abyss again so I went to amazon to buy the blu-ray. Except they don't make the blu-ray, they only have DVD. So I turned to illegally downloading it, because that is the only way I could watch it in 1080p.
  9. I've been getting great results from these profiles. His modified S-LOG works well and his simulated Canon profile gives great color but less DR
  10. go to :41 to see rolling shutter. Seems pretty significant. LOVE the colors I am seeing out of this camera though. I have a D750 I'm about to sell and was going to pick up a second sony. Buuut I might get this instead.
  11. Remember to over expose by a stop or two and drop exposure a bit in post. Doing the reverse will result in more noise.
  12. Wow, this looks great, reasonable price as well.
  13. I use an LG ultrawide and love it. However DO NOT get one that is only 2560x1080, it's way too little resolution for editing. If you can't afford a 3440x1440 ultrawide, go with the 27 inch 1440p monitor instead.

  15. I've had an A7r 2 for 2 weeks now and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Love the camera.
  16. I'm going against what kidsrevil said, if you shake the camera for added "intensity" like you did here the A6300 image will look horrendous.
  17. Tried it out, Great color with the S-log highlight rolloff. Awesome stuff. EDIT: Further testing. Amazing film like DR and great color. Normal Gamma with "neutral" look Custom "The Sony Profile" PP7 Simple grade, only touched Contrast and Blacks in Lumetri -5 Exposure +5 Exposure

The A7r 2 is also for my photo work. Wanted that full frame for that, video I can deal with crop. But mainly I can no longer accept doing run and gun work without an EVF, external moniters and eye cups just give me trouble.

Having a great time with it. The IBIS alone is worth it for me. Loved my Nx1, but being limited to the S lenses for all my event work was annoying. I've been mainly using A7r 2 mainly in FF mode, great RS performance, get to use the full width of my lenses, and I like the image. It's actually pretty crazy to me that so many people complain about the colors. Yeah I understand if you always shoot S-log to torture yourself in post I can see that being a problem (or just use the S-log lut in Resolve and have a great image right away). Every one of these image was just shot neutral with slight tweaks in lumetri. I was able to get slightly better color out of the NX1 near the end, but I'm almost there already with the sony. I miss the NX1 viewfinder in bright lighting, but the Sony is much MUCH better in low light situations. I liked the menus and handling on the NX1 better, except the lack of ability to switch from the viewfinder to the rear screen mid-shot. Very happy overall.

Voigtlander 40mm with the A7r 2 FF mode.
  21. Just officially announced. Waiting to see if they give video specs. Update: Full HD 25 fps, no other information given.
  22. I have no idea why they shot Interstellar in anamorphic alongside the IMAX footage. Made the difference in clarity even more significant and jarring. It would have worked far better if they shot it in flat then the IMAX footage would not have needed to be cropped as much as it was for the regular theatrical release.
  23. I'll also chime in with Aputure VS-2 FineHD. Great features at the price, love that it does anamorphic conversion. Like others have said though, contrast is to high and there is no way to fix it.
