I kind of wish that Panasonic would've let go of the mirrorless form factor for this camera. Strictly speaking, there is no good reason to give a purpose-built video camera a mirrorless-style body. It does not really fit with the way people operate cinema cameras. As a hybrid between still and video, OK. But for a dedicated cinema camera, I would've much preferred a LS300/VG900 camcorder-style body. It would make it much easier to accommodate the inevitable PL mount adaptors and pro battery plates. Also, XLR inputs and audio controls.

I don't think anything in the Lumix line-up is considered aimed at "serious" video people... That sounds more like Varicam territory to me. I'm sure some will speak out about the GH5/S... and yes professional work can be  produced with any of these cameras, but I can't see Michael Bay selecting the GH5 as his A-cam any time soon.
So here is a question: Does Sony even make a 20MP Full Frame sensor? And if not perhaps this will be (finally) one of Panasonics actual sensors.

So you disagree with the below statement that you omitted?
Look, I full well know that many people use GH5/series cameras for weddings, corporate videos maybe even some commercial work. But for myself, I have always considered the GH5 cameras to be more, "prosumer" not professional cameras. I'll go one better than that, M43 in general IMO is not a professional format for stills or video. For still work I consider Full Frame or larger ideal for professional work. In video I look mainly to S35 or larger unless we are talking about ENG cameras... which is not something I am particularly interested in. But again, I will concede, professional work can be produced on any of the better modern cameras.
I think part of what makes these hybrids great, is the fact that aspiring creators can use "prosumer" gear and achieve pro results. While Arri and Red are no doubt wonderful cameras. They work best when you have the budget for a crew. Generally productions will have more than one of these on hand as backups. Lenses will run $20K plus each. And that's  not even anamorphic.
It's exciting to see what Panasonic will bring in the next few days. And I know most here will hope Panasonic prices this body as "prosumer" not "pro".

If "raw" is the game changer,  then it needs to be internal... scratch that... I doubt raw is considered a game changer in 2019? This has to be about the sensor. I'm gonna say it... I'm probably wrong,  but I think this is going to sport their organic sensor... or some variation of that sensor.
Slow-mo is cool,  but not "game changing". Raw is nice to have as an option, but again not "game changing". Internal NDs are convenient,  but certainly not "game changing". And that organic sensor is well overdue.

I'm hoping the game changer is not 8k. I personally own no 8k monitors or TVs, so no advantage there for me. Higher CPU demands and storage requirements will slow work in post.

We won’t go against anyone if one follows the rule and respect to others effort. However, a lot of China based companies are notorious for their habit of IP theft around the world. It is not sole case of Huawei being part of it but no doubt she did quite a lot.

This has NOTHING to do with any regulations that have been lifted under the current administration. From the article you posted:
"Reserve sits in the heart of an industrial corridor between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. For more than 30 years, it has been known to many of its residents as “Cancer Alley”. That designation stems from the toxic pollution that is belched out from chemical plants along the serpentine squiggles of the lower Mississippi River."
I'll add one additional thought... by an intriguing coincidence Michigan has solidly voted Democate for the past 30 years; It was flipped by the narrowest margin ( less than 1%) in 2016.
Thank goodness the air in the USA hasn't fallen to UK air quality levels. Seriously, what the heck is going on there?

They just want their iPhones and Nike shoes... who cares how many suffer to produce them? Who could care less if they are all dying from pollution?... so long as it's over there... and not here.
Regardless of how you feel about Trump... he's right! It doesn't matter how he arrived at the conclusion... He's just plain right. And those of you that would argue otherwise are unknowingly Pro-No Human Rights and Pro-Inequity. Some things matter more than gadgets.

Exactly the world is not like back then (as in a year ego even). The United States, Europe, South America, etc have a choice of which businesses they let operate in their respective countries. So if for example European countries decide that it's unfair that their citizens have to pay social security, health care, etc and Chinese workers don't have equal protection they can decide to block Chinese products from their markets. If they find that German companies are forced to share their know-how with a Chinese company, know-how that may have taken decades to develop, and are subsequently used in a 100% Chinese company to compete against the join-venture then Germany may say that this Chinese company may not import it's goods in Germany/Europe.
What the world is like is exactly what is being reevaluated. European bureaucrats even before Trump were starting to reevaluate their economic dealings with China and what the cost was to European business. This will only accelerate it. China won't have it as easy in the future. But the Chinese government is at this point still one step ahead. Their Silkroad initiative is all about extending it's economic power to the world and making entire economic regions like Africa dependent on them. Note that some African countries are already voting differently in the UN on issues like Taiwain, Tibet, Uighurs, etc because of China's growing influence. Chinese companies are never truly independent of the state. So Huawei isn't just a company ... it's a tool to extend the Chinese way of doing business.

How many Chinese companies are forced to find a 50% local partner to share their technology with? Zero. What's it look like when a US or European company wants to operate a business in China.
Are Facebook, Google, freely available in China? In contrast are there restrictions on Chines companies like TikTok, WeChat, etc across the world?
It's amazing to me how China wields just one of their tools, censorship (which on it's own you should be objecting too!), as an economic tool to keep businesses out and you all don't have a problem with it. And by the way it's not Facebook or Google's fault that Europe doesn't have good equivalents. How hard is it to start a social network? The US and Europe mostly have free markets (and please don't think European markets are entirely free).
China has a state run policy designed to put foreign companies at a disadvantage.  Huawei didn't have to set up a 50% joint venture with an American or European company, Huawai benefits from import rules that can result in paying less customs duties than a US company within the United States. China is fighting tooth and nails not to be reclassified as anything other than a developing country. It's laughable.  It amazes me how excited European consumers are to buy Huawei phones considering the long term cost to their own jobs and well being.
At this point even Samsung has my sympathy because they are fighting against Chinese companies that can absorb years of losses and profits due to government funds and loans. It is not a level playing field, China is making sure of it, so Trump may have faulty logic but he's drawing the right conclusion. Europe needs to invest massively in R&D and new ways of manufacturing or the continent is in trouble. Just look at recent Der Spiegel issue (for those of you in Germany) as an example of where entire German industries are facing issues both self-made and foreign made because they had to transfer decades worth of know-how to their Chinese joint-venture companies.
I have no beef with the Chinese nor China's government which has lift up the country economically but I do have a major problem with pretending that Huawei (of all companies! I encourage you to read up more about how that company is run and by whom) is worthy of a second of our sympathy.

The dynamic range and highlight roll-off look better than the X-T3 to my eyes. The greater dof and wider field of view (without barrel distortion) make the footage appear almost anamorphic. Granted without the typical oval bokeh and lens streaks. It's a distinctly different look to anything out of the X-T3. Mind you I did like the footage from the X-T3, and found it "fun" to shoot with. But this GFX100 seems to render a very unique look imo.
The only problem I have with it is there is sooo much on the horizon atm. The new Hasselblad will likely bring huge improvements now that they are owned by DJI. Also we have the soon to be announced Panasonic... that frankly no one expected. We can only ponder what that will bring to the table? Until those question are answered I will hold off on adopting a new system.
As for the price... well what else can match these spec for less? And the $10K become close to $15K once you start adding lenses... which you will of course need.

China was perhaps trusted too much... they are still a hostile power. While I understand that the NSA has backdoors in most smart hardware... including lightbulbs and microwave ovens; the NSA is not considered a hostile power to those living in the western world. It's unlikely that they will steal you credit card information,  or bank account info. China is yet another story. I understand that many here like Huawei phones,  but how many here would like their phone to be used to remotely initiate a cyber attack unbeknownst to them? Such an incident could leave the owner of the device with some difficult explaining to do.
I'll pass, I don't need to expose myself to that kind of liability.
Truly random numbers can be generated on a smartphone by using data from the sensors to seed the PRNG. You can do this in java or kotlin. It's an extra step, which means more time to code. The original issue arose from that fact that the PRNG utilized non-random seed values (serial numbers etc...). If you know the seed value used by the PRNG, and you know the algorithm used to generate the random key, well you can crack the code. It's all in what you are securing and how secure it needs to be.

I found this post quite entertaining to me because it reflects the POVs of most western people on the US-Sino trade war which is a little bit surprise and not surprise to me.
What the comments surprised me are that a lot of people see US acting against Huawei is to kill the competitor for the US companies but simply ignore the IP theft and more seriously, the state-controlled nature of the tech giant. Why I tend to believe that US is doing the right thing is because that’s how China government control people in their country. There are already 200 million CCTV installed (P.S. China population is 1.4 billion) in the whole country in every accessible corner with face recognition technology which can spot your position and send order to police grabbing you within 7 minutes. Not just that, there is another brand called hikvision, one of the largest CCTV manufacturer in the world which produces the CCTV with backdoor or even without admin password. That means everyone can access to the cameras simply by the IP address and your home or office will become Trueman Show for free. There was already a case about the CCTV produced by Xiami which is spotted by the network technician for its transferring 40GB of video to a server in mainland China without precaution. In my mind, Huawei is just another bad ass company that is no different from others in PRC. A theft never claims himself theft.
Please beware that Huawei is tech company with sophisticated branding and social media technique to cover her ambitious of penetrating your daily life by the smartphone and 5G technology. The 10x optical zoom is so sweet and the price is lower than the over-priced iPhone which is quite tempting for every user. However, once you own the phone and start taking photos or talking, your privacy should be gone immediately. The phone is usually pre-installed Tik Tok and Wechat which are already reported the most unsecured application of privacy. PRC may not interested in your private life. But if the phones are being used by the people working in government or military officer, I.T. industries or any other organization with valuable IP asset or sensitive information, all the effort of building up for nation security and innovation will be sold silently which is too late when you are woken up.
Don’t be short sight on this “little” matter. Trade war may bring damage to economic but it is a must to go against the potential hazard before it is unrecoverable. The next battle line is not trade war but network war which target to infrastructure from communication, traffic system or electricity that are connected to network. If 5G is controlled, your life is controlled, possibly, by China government.
Why you should trust what I said is because I live in Hong Kong, just next to my enemy and I am fucked by my government every day. That's also why I said your comments are not surprise to me because you are not close enough to the source of information.
@Kisaha FYI, always search for information with opposite opinion. I dare saying that every official information announced by China government is not trustable.
