What's the best way to sync audio to multiple clips in Resolve?
I've been manually matching sounds and waveforms clapperboard style, but wonder if there's a Premiere/Pluraleyes type 'Sync' button? I can't seem to find it anywhere and wonder if I'm missing something.

I was messing with some old, test shots from my film. This one was shot with the older non-ai version of the Nikkor 28mm f/2. I’m still deciding on a monitor, so this was graded with my non-calibrated MacBook Air...
I’m slowly narrowing down my lens sets... finally.

Quite a nice Freudian slip as I think this show is probably going to be a bit more of a quiet one than some editions !

While I occasionally do some video and photo work, I've given up on it as a profession.

I do drywall work for a living, it pays extremely well, is always in demand, and is a skill that changes very little over time. My stress and happiness is better for it. You don't have to constantly keep up with the latest and greatest tech.

Though I will say a big factor for me is that I realized I don't enjoy editing video, I'm such a perfectionist that I would have constant stress during the edit. Pretty much killed film projects for me unless I'm working as part of a team.

Apart from the update @BrunoCH mentioned, I recommend you overcome your lack of calibration by keeping the demo videos of the ARRI and Canon cinema cameras handy and comparing your grade to clips in those videos.  I specifically mention these two brands because both are known for their excellent colour science, but have very different approaches to skin tones and other aspects so it kind of gives you a couple of data points that you can place your grade anywhere between and it'll be fine.  Also, demo videos are their finest example of footage and will have been graded to perfection from a high-end colourist so you can be sure that the quality is there and you're safe using them as a reference.
One could theoretically download them, pull them into Resolve, find great frames and capture stills so that there is a range of reference images right inside Resolve only a few clicks away at any point, but copyright issues obviously prevent anyone from doing that
Nodes is definitely a different way of thinking and takes some work to understand, but the advantage is that nodes can do things you cannot do with layers, or cannot do easily (depending on the software) so it's worth the effort to work through it to get familiar with them.
I agree that the database method only suits a particular way of working, and I haven't found a way around it.  I don't know how they would change this but I can see how it would be useful - once again I think this is a hang-over from Resolve being an industry-leading tool scaled down to software-only rather than a PC tool scaled up to have industry-leading functionality.

They do differ in favour of the Arri for sure, but my thoughts in posting were that the differences are smaller than I imagined they would be, considering the saving.

For stills, DPAF, Sony, Nikon all use phase detection that cause banding issues under certain lighting environment or raise the shadow.
This may or may not matter for video, but it's a concern for me since I primarily shoot stills. I've seen in various group and forum that show those artifacts make it unusable. This happens in EOS R, Sony A7/R, Nikon Z series camera. Sony A9 is the only one that doesn't exhibit this with the fast read out. It's rare occurrence but it does happens.
The easy way is to follow the pack and adopt PDAF at the expense of image quality. They won't ridicule on the net anymore.
I actually think it's bold of them to adopt a non compromise approach to image quality and go against standard practice. They are constantly attack for their choice in sticking with DFD. Despite all these ridicule, I found the latest version 1 FW AF to be usable. There is no pulsating and it's fast. It focus really fast in low light and track well enough for non sport activity. If you are using it for photo, it's a non issue while have no banding issues.
Sure the AF may not be the best, but it's more than usable since it's combination of features is the closest to being a perfect camera for me. It's also one camera I've been the most excited for. I've been a Canon users only for 10 years that was interested in Sony A7III, A7RIII, A9 etc. All those camera has compromises in some way that goes beyond features.
    Panasonic S1:
Class leading EVF 5.76 million dot 120 hz Dual IS (class leading IBIS FF 6 stops) Dual card slot (first dual XQD/CFE & SD card slot combo) 4K 60 30 cropped (1st FF to offer it) | unlimited 4K 30p EyeAF and animal tracking Ergonomic and weather sealing with button logically lay out Fully touch screen LCD Back lit buttons Focus bracketing  High resolution mode 96 mpx and 187 mpx for 47 mpx sensor.  Timelapse Fully touch screen LCD  Dynamic range beat Fuji medium format, Z6, A7III, A7RIII at low ISO with clean ISO 12,800. For a $2500 S1 camera with free battery and grip, Panasonic offer a lot of class leading features. I can forgive it for not having the best AF. I'm sure they are working on FW to get it even better.
This is their first FF mirrror less camera and it shows they really tried. I have no problem supporting a camera company that gave me such a bang for my money. There is no perfect camera, but what you are willing to compromise on. This come the closest perfect camera for me.

I've seen some amazing video done with Panasonic S1. I don't think the AF is an issue unless you track sport movement. It's more than enough for most people need.
This camera has more features than my skills.

I don't know but I prefer the look of the new bmpcc4k in your clip. I used to have a BMPCC and to be honest I would be happy with either of them. But side by side like that, I would take the new bmpcc4k.
On a side note, tried some vertical filming the other day.

I'm not surprised.  The P4K has great colour science, but zebras have no colour so they're not compatible.
I think to shoot zebras you have to be a black-and-white thinker.  Maybe having a DPreview account would help?

It looks basically exactly the same lol
    Same fringing
    same sharpening halos
    same noise reduction

Since the ARRI Alexa doesn't have sharpening halos when shooting ProRes, nor my exported ProRes footage does and Braw and ProRes on this camera look exactly the same on the P4K I really don't think so.
Really didn't switch from the GH5 to the P4K for BMD to apply even more noise reduction aka texture reducer than Panasonic...

Sure; it depends on what you'd like. Fuji and BMD have very good, usable color. I personally will use P4K with GH5; I hope to have EC to do a production this summer.
8 bit is tricky; I'd prefer to only support 10 bit cameras, though I will try to find a way that will give viable production level results with 8-bit. I think Log is not really in the cards there.

Bit of really cool news; last weekend, the director of a film starring Josh Hartnett wrote to me to say that they were using the GH5 with EC as a pick-up cam alongside Alexa Minis and XTs.
He said that a senior Star Wars colorist was doing the grade, and said that 'everybody was very impressed' with it. I was pretty thrilled with that

@xzobinx I am sure that you know this already but, the 12V port on the camera is designed to take 12V-20V. The battery outputs 8.4V-6V. I am surprised that the camera even turns on with only 8V plugged into the 12V port. I suggest that you get a 12V output battery sled like this one: https://amzn.to/2Fp0I4u  I have 3 and they work fine for me. I also use dtap straight from a v-mount battery to the 12V port and it works great. The camera lasts basically all day with one big v-mount battery.
If you run a cord straight from the battery, I recommend that you use a dummy battery. The camera is designed to use lower voltages from the battery port. If you use a dummy battery, you will also lose the ability to hot swap your battery during a long shoot.
I have 15-20 of those batteries and they work great. I have had only had one of them die over the past 2 or three years of regular use. I have the batteries numbered, but I don't keep track of when I buy them, so I have no idea how long the batteries lasted before dying.
IIRC, I think that Tom Antos mentioned killing some of his monitors that provide power to the camera because of the heavy power draw from the BMPCC4K, so I would hesitate trying to draw power from the monitor.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend a store that will ship those to Australia.
