yeah, hard not to be bulky when slapping a 600mm f/4 on the front.
the fs700 and recorder combo is big, but it's definitely manageable when you have proper camera support. No doubt the fs5 has the advantage there.
Still, for 4k slowmo, the fs700 is still pretty bad ass when recording externally. More than enough camera for what I'm doing.

Also, to go the other way, here's the fs700 with the Pentax 110 24mm 2.8 lens on it, just for shits and giggles

These are HD frame grabs with the Mamiya 80mm and 55mm + Medium Format Speedbooster. My current favorite lens to use is the 150mm f3.5. The crop factor ends up at x0.7.

Still working out the shipping details but it looks like I will test it on the MAVO soon.

Shot a MOS spot in Toronto for VISIT FLORIDA with the a73 and a6300. Unfortunately I couldn't edit the piece as I've been traveling for other shoots. The pink scarf is a little hot in the YT upload for some reason. Lenses were the 16-35/4 and the Tamron 28-75, all handheld or on a monopod. All shots used the a73's brilliant AF/face detection and it only drifted out of focus once, then it smoothly locked on the talent again. We shot all day in the cold - about 15f to 25f - over the course of two days gathering over two hours of interview footage. The camera was on my monopod, slung over my shoulder the entire time we walked around. I never put it in the bag as I needed to be ready to shoot the moment someone agreed to talk to us. I changed the battery once. After walking the streets for about 6 hours and gathering over 90min of footage it was down to 9%. The second day I did everything on one battery. Love the Zed battery and the a73. Almost everything is the a73, there are a couple cutaways that were shot with the a6300. I'll post some gear porn shots of the camera with a smallrig cage and my wireless setup soon.
    Cheers
    Chris
Edit: Everything was shot 4k 24p, not sure of the PP, it may have been EOSHD Pro Color.

hmm.. unfortunately it doesn't look like that's case right now. Was it like that on the original pocket as well? I don't remember but it would be good to have the WB change dynamically indeed or at least have an option for it..
I shot almost exclusively raw so far so i wasn't too bothered about wb as long as it was in the right ballpark but it would definitely be important when shooting ProRes..
Shall we compile a list of suggestion to send Blackmagic for the next software versions?
    Here's mine:
    - Playback mode to reflect clip metadata (both on the display and on the menu bar)
    - Thumbnail page in playback mode to quickly move between files
    - Better power management so the camera won't die on you suddenly
    - Possibility of using the iris and focus button as extra function keys when using manual lenses

If you compare their dynamic range testing over the last few years of the Same camera, you'll probably lose your sanity. Apart from contradicting everyone else, they contradict themselves too, many times over. And I don't think it's their fault TBO. It may have to do with the voltage and some kind of bulb or tube issued with their equipment. ???

When Canon gives you 1080P EIS that looks as awful as it gets, GoPro gives you H.265 4K60P with a level of electronic stab never seen before. In fact I would prefer to have this stab in my FF versus Sony/Nikon IBIS, let alone Canon IS.
BTW I have the Hero 6, and the stab was very very good but this one is again another league.

    Well done.

I’m sure you could do wonders with a C200. Your work with the E-M5 Mark II was inspiring, so the C200 and one of your Zeiss’s would probably be pretty epic.
Plus, Canon Log 2 has a very similar curve as LogC with middle grey both at around 40. Granted, I get your point and agree it’s not for every job and wouldn’t suit your needs.
But without a doubt, a lot of indie, micro filmmakers could make a gorgeous calling card short with it.

    Thanks for the notes.
A great deal of The Resident is shot handheld with an Ursa Mini Pro and APO Hyperprimes from SLR Magic. We rig it in what I call “football” mode.  Body, wooden camera cheese plates, Dbox, MDR, battery, lens and side handle.
I try to keep it as small as possible. Attcahed are a couple of shots I was operating on a pilot in Chicago a few months ago.
A lot is also shot with a minimally rigged micro camera, WC cage, self pulling with a 10mm SLR Magic lens and a 5” VA for monitoriing on an arm.  Idea being to keep it all very small.  There’s a picture here showing the way I work that rig here mid-take.  It allows me to get the camera inside the surgical feild and very intimate.
We work really hard on making the medical stuff as real as possible. It’s a real prop in that case.  Most of the extras in surgery scenes are realy life OR nurses and surgeons.  We have surgeons as consultants and we make a lot of prosthetics to be story specific.
We have to take some liberties though, usually for time.  I mean it’s a 47 min TV show
I recall with the scene you’re talking about that graft would normally take about an hour to install and sew.  Mina gets it done in a few seocnds ?. The whole procedure would take a few hours.
So we try to get the spirit right and we try to be very explicit and accurate with the medical depictions. We still get. alot of medical people flaming the show for not being “right” but usually they’re more upset with the way we depict the shortcomings and failings of the US medical system ?
We shoot, edit and master in 1920.  Fox does the downconvert.  You can get 1920 versions from other stremaing services though.

Well considering that the alexa is barely passing their tests (1440x810 real resolution, 1db more noise at mid gray, some aliasing, some ir pollution) ... their tests are specifically designed for bbc qc and standards... So as the rebel punks anti establishment shooters that we here are, of course we must dismiss their findings.

Clean 3200 iso on a cinema camera is a big deal, look at the Varicam, Venice, Gemini. That is if it’s really clean. There is no raw, no prores 10 bit coming out of an a7s which is what has spoiled us into think high isos are the norm but they are not.

I remember people complaining about “mtv look” in the 90s and how it wasn’t cinema like... then run Lola run came to cinema and since that worked for the story, it became accepted. At one point, a well choreographed scene like the restaurant scene in goodfellas was considered the ultimate cinematic goal, now you can do it relatively easy with a small camera and a glidecam or a gimbal. So I think cinematic is when it works for the story/style. Whether that is movement or tripod shot, it depends on the meaning, not specific technique. Paranormal activity was very video looking and that was the point.

I saw movies on dvd that were poorly encoded and for several reasons had all of those problems (blown highlights, horrible roll off, oversharpened, compressed skin tones), it detracted from them but still were “cinematic “
minority report had all of those problems for artistic reasons and still looked good... don’t believe me? Watch it again
