Ah, couldn't import the clips in Resolve (latest 16 beta), then discovered 10 bits h264 is a Resolve studio capability... So back to premiere...
I may have to buy a bmpcc4k to obtain a licence key and be able to use S1 files ?

I sold my Canon mk3 with Magic lantern 14 bits raw, that was working great, to get this camera.
My main reasons to upgrade to the S1 are better lowlight, IBIS and 10 bit Vlog.
I'm hoping the vlog workflow will be easier on storage than my previous raw workflow.
I just have to remember to nail the white balance. that was never an issue with raw.
It seems like my choice is paying off. Will get firmware key next week.  Looking forward to any more footage.

Managed to activate my code today. From the first shot I could see the improvement. 10bit 422 V-LOG with V-Gammut has truly punted this thing into PRO CINEMA territory.

Nobody will think the tv is screwed when they are watching from day to day, because they have no memory reference from the day before. most people are not even aware of the difference between hdr and sdr without comparing them side by side.

There are two downsides for the 6k mode
only 30p no 25 as andrew mentioned
and the other is no HDMI out during 6k recording

You can choose 4:3 in 4K or 6K photo mode. Here's a short vid using 4k Photo mode with 4:3 aspect ratio, Mamiya 105mm and Möller 32/2x Anamorphot. There's no colour correction just very slight exposure adjustments on a few different picture profiles.  It would be nice to get 25fps (or 24) atm it's 30 or 60p in 4K and 30 in 6K. It would also be nice to have HLG for this mode. Also, I wonder what bit rate and colour space the file records at in photo mode, anyone know?

In 6k Photo mode the S1 can film at 60p with full sensor for 10 minutes.
If you don't need sound, ( I don't for slow-motion ) then its a great option if you don't want to crop for 60p.

    Nice!

    About Apple...
They had 10 bit support in ios 11, I could transfer 10 bit h265 from a fuji xt3 with the apple sd card reader at usb 3 speeds to the ipad.
And I could edit in lumafusion
in ios 12 all we get is a red error x on top if the file and it won't transfer.
And with no way to go back to ios 11, we are stuck at 8 bit files.
I hope apple will allow this in a future ios update.
And pressure from samsung for 10 bit will  hopefull help that

I wrote in English to the Japan office last week with a request and they answered me with a specific reply (they did actually read my email) within a few days. So it isn't hopeless.
I asked if they could implement a setting for max ISO in video mode, or at least show the ISO being used, instead of just "ISO AUTO".
