    Amazing tech.
The reason why Canon can't give us anything in their DSLR is because they have to protect their cine line.
Here is the catch. There cine line is full of shit spec wise so to protect shit specs you have to release even shitier specs.
Panasonic brings 4K 120fps RAW to their cine line. So no matter how amazing the GH5 will be they won't impact the lines above.
This is half a joke but not so far from the truth I am afraid..

I highly recommend going on Kinefinity's website and downloading their sample clips from the Kinemini and Kinemax as well. Insanely robust footage. I'd put it above even Blackmagic footage for gradability.

Why do you shoot video: are you doing it for the money or are you seeking to fulfill a creative need? Or maybe you're lucky and your art pays the bills?
Personally I've done it for the money and lately I feel completely unsatisfied.
But I'm interested in knowing why -you- choose to pickup the camera and shoot.

Bluetooth earphones and wireless charging have both been available for some years now. Go for it, Apple does not exist in a vacuum. Have fun charging you earphones, though.
The only sensible thing would be to make wireless earphones that can charge and work with a supplied cable when the battery runs out. Cables are only really obtrusive only a fraction of the time (like for exercise).

    Yawn.
Blackmagic are excellent value for money, and that's all there is to say really.
If Blackmagic aren't "good enough", just use another brand. Simple.

Damn Sony and Samsung! Why can't they remove the headphone jack from their water resistant flagships too? Would be way easier for Apple to fuck its customers base.

Not likely - that's a function of the optics, not of replacing the rubber ring with a gear. Even changing the ratio to get a longer throw won't affect how the image responds to focus changes.

    Is this the end?
also professor Dr. Kino Flo says their sensor technology is not unique and that the magneta corners you get if you increase saturation 40,000 percent is not good.

The problem with Kino is that he posts after trying to reverse engineer his knowledge with a google search.
Look at his claim about Sony and RED being the only company that make their own sensors and ASICs. He is of course just parroting some marketing speak to support another of HIS claims that he's been called on here, without realising it only undermines his opinion presented as fact.
Does he even know what an ASIC is I wonder ?  Does he know that not all cameras use ASICs ?  Does he think that using an ASIC is the only way to make a camera, as Sony and RED apparently do, which of course means that Arriflex have no idea how to make a camera or design a their own sensor ?  Or Panasonic or Canon for that matter.
So which is it ?  Which are saying is proof of credibility ?  Are you saying that Arri, Canon, Panasonic and Blackmagic aren't ?
Do you have to use ASICs to design your own camera sensor or do you not ?
Does Kino know if designing a sensor and designing ASICS are mutually exclusive ? or not ?
Let's wait and see what he says, because one way he shows he's an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about and the other means he has to accept that he was wrong about Blackmagic not designing their own circuits (boards) and sensors
He has zero understanding of how a sensor is designed.  He still uses phrases like "off the shelf" without really understanding what that means.  Challenging him only leads to sideways arguments.
He'll come back now after a period of time while he furiously searches for the answers I challenge him on and he'll regurgitate some more half relevant information.
This topic is really just a place for people to vent their disappointments with Blackmagic products, which, they've probably earned their fair share of.  My personal experience isn't what many others claim, and I see a company that may not communicate what they do very well, yet addresses these issues when they come up.  I've seen them deal with many of their issues in manufacture, like the orbs that came up through the pockets, the rolling noise in some of the early BMCCs.
I probably have cameras that some here would define as magenta issues, but I never seem to shoot in circumstances that ever seem to reveal them to the QC processes I go through, namely a tech check for each days rushes, an assistant editor assembling the shots, another editor then cutting the shots (and intercutting with other cameras mind) then going to online, then grade, then through the QC process for delivery, which is very stringent.
I've seen some cameras that absolutely have a problem and as far as I know anyone that can demonstrate that kind of severe problem has been able to RMA their camera

This time i have tested to export 4k/25p footage direct from cinelight to prores lt with add saturation and denoise.after i grade it in CC with S-curve and basic adjust.export in h265. noise level is way better and the colors seems correct.
    What do you think about?

I can't speak for everyone that has bought a 4.6K, but myself, and the 2 people I know in town who bought one, haven't had any problems with the magenta corners. I even did a stress test against a white wall at f/8 35-70mm.

Resolve has a post solution for the Black Hole issue, which is great because there are other cameras that have the same problem.  I wa shooting MAC moving lights on a film four days ago with Alexa's and guess what.....they too suffer from black hole sun.
IS lenses work great on the pocket ?

Yeah, you'd be 100% wrong there. But carry on...
They seem to have sold thousands of them.  Mostly they're still backordered.
    Such as...?
Resolve...?  Oh wait, you get that included with the camera...

andrgl reacted to Nicholas Natteau in Canon C300 Mark II flopping vs the Sony FS7 at rental?
    Hi Andrew,

I couldn't agree more with your article. As a former C300/1DC owner, I love Canon's color science (especially for skin tones). And I was eagerly looking forward to the C300 Mark II. But not at $16K or even $12K. I then hoped in vain that the 1DX Mark II would at least have Log.

If this C300M2 rental slump continues, Canon may have to drop the price yet again to (hopefully) $9k or $8k. Today, it would have to approach the price of an FS7 to be as competitive and attract the same mass market interest for indie doc filmmakers that the C300 once did. I know that might sound strange considering that the C300 was once $16K for only 1080p, but times have changed and the competition is fierce.

No, I think they will stay on for a while still.
On the still side its another story. Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Pentax.... This won't last. There aren't enough customers. Samsung is not the last to go.

I had been listening to people who told me, look, it's not even real HD and UHD is the way to go nowadays. They were right, I saw the Pocket's limits in resolution, and it started to bother me. I sold it and every piece of equipment associated with it. Now I have tons of footage from the said people in glorious 4k and I can watch it in native resolution and I can compare it to my old Pocket footage. And I could cry. Resolution isn't everything. What about handling? People have exact CWB, various implementations of AF, AE or - and this is not exaggerated - millions of combinable profile-settings. None of these has the Pocket. And yet, all these funky functions don't seem to help much, because of the image quality.  You don't believe that or see that? Then be happy, stay happy ...

No way. I've been using the 4.6k with no problems for months. The new 4.0 firmware puts it over the top. 4.6k, 4K DCI, & 3K anamorphic ProRes. Custom LUT display. 2x desqueeze on the 5" LCD. I've finally found a camera that is perfect for what i do.

It's very interesting. In my opinion I think that Blackmagic is the camera manufacturer with the biggest potiental today.
I'm tired of all these cameras with low video abilities for pro.
I mean we need RAW, we need at least 4:2:2 10bit, we need ProPres internal, we need a serious LOG profile, we need 4K 60fps minimum, we need < 5000€ price, etc. We are in 2016...
For sure Sony, Canon and Panasonic are able to do that in a DSLR but they don't want, to prevent cross market products (otherwise, overheating seems the only problem imo).
Recently I bought a used Blackmagic Production 4K in pack with SSD and lenses and even if this camera has some bad points, there is no competitor at this price.
Hope Blackmagic will not become as RED and create a camera that cost a house.
