It's a piece of crap, just like the A6600. Only good work in APSC video now is from Fuji.
Panasonic does a really good work in video on M43 (good on FF but some massive caveats like the AF at that price point are unacceptable)
Fuji very good work in APSC.
Canon is still a complete joke, Nikon is much better than it used to be but not quite there yet. And Sony is a joke in APSC, let's see with the A7S III if they are king again or if they flop totally.
Samsung in the past, Panasonic, and now Fuji show us the technology is here, even for small companies. 4K60p, 10 bit, good bitrates, all of this is easy and possible since months/years. The rest of them is just still in this game of protecting other products.

Nope, they raised enough money to pay the codec consortium, aka the Illuminati, the 24 cents for 24p.
I don’t think he was being pro-Canon here... it’s like the folks that say, Canon isn’t withholding features, that wouldn’t make any sense... they just don’t have the tech to do it.

I heard a rumor it was next to impossible to develop 24p in the software. It would have been too expensive. But then Steve in software development had a break through.

    Meh...
Every new Sony announcement has me feeling like the a7s3 is going to be a major dud - from rolling out the same damn sensors across the board except for the a7r4 and the endless 8-bit parade, I'm expecting very little from the s3 beyond the Z battery and the new AF.

Here's a quick one of my current setup. Nikon Z6,  Smallrig cage, and Monfrotto arm with a SmallHD Focus monitor. Recently got the Monfrotto arm and I love it, very sturdy and easy to adjust.

Lol at all the die hards over on reduser moving the goal posts.
reduser: Red makes its own sensors because Jim said so something something gospel
Jim deposition: Actually we didn't I just lied about it
reduser: Red had to lie its just how business is done these days you can't expect them to make their own sensor its obvious!

The patent system in the US is broken. Amazon was granted a patent for photographing objects on a white seamless backdrop.
    Seriously.
The cost of a patent trial is several millions of dollars.
So a company like Red, with deep pockets, can bully the shit out of smaller companies.
    Like this.
They can also force large companies to settle. Is it worth the risk of going to court to try and invalidate a bullshit patent? What if you lose?
Sony settled with Red out of court in July 2013.
Cheaper and safer to license and pass the cost off the the customer.

Good for them. Can’t blame Red for a broken patent, legal and economic system.
They’re simply trying to run a business.

And now they have the honour of being on the receiving end of getting fucked by a company with infinitely greater resources.

    No sympathy.

We have cameras that are unable to shoot internal RAW literally because of RED. You want to stop animosity against a company that is completely screwing everyone else over and suing people left and right? A company that made it so Blackmagic had no choice but to create their own RAW format and made companies like Panasonic, Sony, and Nikon all have to figure out ways to make raw external instead, which in turn makes the rest of us have to buy expensive external recorders and expensive SSDs? Seriously, no offense man - but you should probably quit telling people what to do and how to treat companies, especially companies that are making our work life more difficult and more expensive. Also, dont forget where you are - this is EOSHD, where the creator of the site is very critical of companies - which in turn pushes them to be better and to quit their bullshit. So in conclusion, please get off your high horse and realize that we shouldn’t bow down to big bad RED and let them push us around with their bullshit patent. And this “animosity” is very much warranted.

Please, please, please; Sony better not have some bullshit archaic licensing scheme for this.
Im going to scour the net tonight to see if anyone interviewed Grant or some rep confirmed any future cameras getting added to the supported list.
The new 7” VA is the only thing I seriously want to buy this year. I’d still keep my 7Q for slomo, but BRAW is just some much easier to handle than CDNG.

Played with a Sigma FP today.
Its a thing of potential beauty but as it stands it raised more questions than answers for me to be honest and I definitely think a couple of things might have to change between now and the release.
My whispering source needs to stay off the sauce as well.

Monitor/recorder, 5 and 7 inch models, HDR support, scopes, etc.
A blazing 2500 nits for both options.
    $800 and $1000 respectively
The most interesting part is you can record BRAW with it. I wonder how this will work with other cameras from diff manufactures.
Also Blackmagic RAW is officially supported in Avid and Premiere Pro.
