I completely agree with you, and althought the raw quality is there, it seems that Samsung is trying to market this as a "intro-level" camera, and not the actual pro-level it is. Some people think this is a fancier compact camera, They should have made some contest with the NX1 community, and then select 4 shortfilms, im sure the quality would have been much high
er and much more enjoyable.

Pretty sure things like actors, script, directors, sound, lighting, budget etc do just that.
I doubt any average movie goer sits and watches a great s35 film and thinks "not bad, but the format choice was a bit too close to that TV advert I saw". We are already about a decade into cinematic TV.

Long time since I last posted here! OK, Last month Burbuja Films and I presented Midnight Sun, a documentary about the prolific music scene in Finland, Norway and Sweden. Let's try to embed the trailer right here:
 

I filmed the thing last summer during a two month hitch-hiking trip in these countries. Alone. For the journey, bands day to day and interviews I used the RX100 mk2, and for the music videos the BMPCC with c-mount primes. I also had a zoom h1 for audio. I was forced to use this tiny cameras as I was travelling with just one bag, but I also realised that sometimes the smaller the better, specially in this kind of docus where I needed the people to feel comfortable and act natural in front of the camera.

I just wanted to let you guys know that EOSHD was a huge source of inspiration it terms of which gear to choose for the job. I'm really happy with the performance of these two tiny cameras -they never let me down in the two months of production and we think the result is fantastic, considering the low-budget-ish nature of our project. Now, the documentary is touring in festivals all over the world and we hope people enjoy watching it.

​While it's not impossible (I'm sure we'll have plenty of high MP low light monsters in a few short years), if the A7rii bested the A7s in low-light performance, I'm sure they would be plastering it all over their their marketing. 

Annoyingly despite being 100% happy with the a7r and a7s combo, This is very exciting.  I'm going to avoid any more sony marketing otherwise this might replace both cameras.

By the way, the APS-C mode for stills will result in 18MP files.
The A7R II + FE 28mm f/2 would make a neat travel kit, giving you both fullframe wide angle shots and 42mm equivalent 18MP aps-c-shots.

I must say I edit LX100 4K files on my Macbook Pro without any problem! The other day I handed a GoPro 2 file, 1080p25 MP4 to a guy with an i7, 16Gb RAM pc notebook and it played stuttering.......

Cinegain, you seem to have used both, how do they intercut together LX100 and FZ1000??

Another hardware up from the LX100: the FZ1000 has a vari-angle display. Oh, and it has the Cinelike profiles. I also find the MF with the LX100 lens ring a little fiddly (should've swapped aperture and focus ring imho).
But then again, the FZ1000 is quite a bit bulkier. Has the slower lens. The smaller sensor (so you run into highly clipping rather quickly). The bit worse low light performance.
Depends on what you're going for. I've got both since the LX100 makes for a great daily on-the-go shooter. The FZ1000 is nice as an allround travelcam with a little more flexibility. One simply does not offer me what the other can. They also make for great B roll/2nd cameras to a GH4.

I have a Panasonic LX100 and I am very happy with it too! The dials on the body make it very tactile, I nearly never go onto menus!!!

give vimeo a 2.5k file (even if it's just uprez'd from a 1080p aquire, and the 720/1080 streaming from vimeo always looks better than if you simply upload a 1080p file.  this is what i have found anyway.

When I saw the Pocket in person I felt the LCD was shit. So it's better to make smaller cameras and you choose your LCD! Black Magic is really proving to be a forward-looking company! Five years ago they weren't a camera company at all and now they are!
