Well it does sound like they are expanding that location so technically I guess they are building new facilities:

I have no idea how much Trump was involved in that but Jobs (who was a democrat) did complain the Obama administration was making it hard to maintain production in the US.

China was perhaps trusted too much... they are still a hostile power. While I understand that the NSA has backdoors in most smart hardware... including lightbulbs and microwave ovens; the NSA is not considered a hostile power to those living in the western world. It's unlikely that they will steal you credit card information,  or bank account info. China is yet another story. I understand that many here like Huawei phones,  but how many here would like their phone to be used to remotely initiate a cyber attack unbeknownst to them? Such an incident could leave the owner of the device with some difficult explaining to do.
I'll pass, I don't need to expose myself to that kind of liability.
Truly random numbers can be generated on a smartphone by using data from the sensors to seed the PRNG. You can do this in java or kotlin. It's an extra step, which means more time to code. The original issue arose from that fact that the PRNG utilized non-random seed values (serial numbers etc...). If you know the seed value used by the PRNG, and you know the algorithm used to generate the random key, well you can crack the code. It's all in what you are securing and how secure it needs to be.

Huawei puts backdoors in their phones. It's a poor choice to trust such a device with any valuable account information. I won't miss them. And frankly I'm glad to see that the government took action to protect consumers and security.

This is a warning that many of you may already heed.
My experience: In the past I've learned to be wary of Amazon vendors.  Some will sell international versions of cameras that are not supported in the US, for example. Last summer my wife and I purchased two Samsung Gear Fit2 watches.  Mine stopped working the first weekend in November.  I sent it in. Samsung responded today that they cannot fix the watch because it is an international model and will need to be shipped to Italy for repair. This week I thought of purchasing a second X-T3 from Amazon rather than from B and H. I'm glad I didn't make that mistake.

FilmMan got a reaction from andrgl in 5K preview on Canon 5D2 ???
I've been periodically reading the Magic Lantern board out of interest.  I sold my 5d2 years back and bought the 1DC.  There was always something special about the 5d2.   Anyhow, for those interested Reddeercity from Magic Lantern seems to be making progress with the 5d2.
    Reddeercity's post:
Looking in to the HDMI resolution limitations , if everyone doesn't know on the 5D2 the HDMI output @ 1650x1080 60i 4.2.2 uncompressed (1500MB/s)
It anyone wondering why the 5d2 has this res. when standard HDMI is normally 1920x1080 or 1280x720
From what I can figure out there was no need for 16x9 format (After all 5D2 was the first to introduce Video to DSLR's) as a second thought .
So the main object was Photo's and a 3x2 format was needed for photos in  Liveview  so hence 1650x1080 .

So I connected my HDMI Evf & loaded ADTG_GUI.mo  and saved a log file
So I may have found some reg's that control this .
    Code: [Select]
    c0f11314: 4d70653 .... LiveViewMgr pc=ffa07c28 addr=ffca88e0 LV resolution (raw.j.height | lv.width) before upsampling?If you convert this to decimal you get 4d7=1239 & 653=1619  so 1619x1267 , look very close
    Code: [Select]
    c0f0713c:     4f5 ......  LiveViewMgr pc=ff8e1830 addr=8328 HEAD3 timer (ticks?)
    c0f07150:     681 ..... LiveViewMgr pc=ff8e1844 addr=8370 HEAD4 timer (ticks?)convert this to decimal  4f5=1269 & 681=1665 so 1665x1269
I could be totally wrong but that so close , now there's more then likely more reg's evolved here , it could be the hd buffer is the limitation.

There a few reason why I what to hopfully fix this issue ,
First: to get real full 1920x1080 so it would be usable without resizing .
    Second: the HDMI spec 1.3a allowed up to 2560×1440 at 60 Hz & 1920 × 1080 at 120 Hz
Since there's 4k monitor's & recorder out there and getting cheaper everyday, well I thinks it time to look in to this to see it it's possible .

    Edit: Ok I forgot to mention the hdmi 1.3a supports 8bit(24 bit/px) , 10bit(30 bit/px), 12bit(36 bit/px), 16bit(48 bit/px) up to 2560x1440 60i
    Color Space: RGB, Y′CBCR 4:4:4 & Y′CBCR 4:2:2
    and apparently hdmi 1.3a supports UHD 8bit(24 bit/px) 3840x2160 30p 4.2.2 & 60p @4.2.0 and also 5k 8bit(24 bit/px) 5120 × 2880 30p 4.2.2
Maybe there's hope yet for real-time hdmi UHD up to 5k preview

Binary thinking my friend... It's not good.
Cleaner solar energy for example is a prevention method, one of many to consider.
It's not a separate topic at all, it's all part of the topic of climate change.
Once you add up all the elements it's a very complicated subject and one that can't be debated from two polar opposite sides.
Which is exactly what our media and politicians have turned it into.
The uncertainty comes when you try to consider the truth! Rather than simply being swayed by binary thinking, tribal behaviour and where on the political spectrum you consider yourself to be.

Most of the discussion in this thread proves my point that climate change isn't up for debate and very good science will be ignored as a result.
As a liberal creative person I can't even so much as ask a damn question, let alone consider arguments outside my liberal bubble, without the finger pointing of moral condemnation from fellow liberals.
When the simple act of considering some related issues and problems is considered "denial", followed by a lot of frenzied arm-waving idignation and accusations of being alt-right, that is a major problem - and we see it in our politics every day.
This is really unhelpful if the human race is to solve the issues of managing our climate and understanding it better.
Today, we either fit in one camp or the other. To satisfy a consensus you have to either flat out deny climate change exists, or claim that it is all proven, settled and we know everything. Anything else is heresy.
The fact is we don't know it all... we aren't considering some related issues and problems with clean energy sources and impact on agriculture, farmers, food and lives.
This is too complex a problem to pledge allegiance to one of just two opposing dumb football teams and attack it with a tribal mentality.
It's sad to see people do so on this thread without even having watched the film.

FilmMan reacted to Andrew Reid in Leica Q, mind-blowing for stills
Occasionally I like to pretend video doesn't exist on EOSHD and I'm preparing a review of the Leica Q!
I really liked Mattias Burling's review

And this guy's, with some stunning shots in both...
I bought mine used for £3000. The prices new have gone up due to lack of stock.
But if you think of it as a £1500 lens and a £1500 body, in Leica terms that's cheap and with this you get very fast AF unlike on the 28mm F1.4 M
It is quite simply the best small full frame camera I've ever used
And what I find very interesting technologically about it is how much of a Panasonic trace there is in the camera, a clear collaboration and I think we'll be seeing more from Panasonic in the full frame market in due course (just a personal opinion).
I had the Sony RX1R II but I prefer the Q, which is saying a lot because the RX1R II is an amazing camera and has better specs on paper. The look of the 28mm F1.7 is drool-worthy wide open on the full frame Panasonic... I mean Leica... sensor.
The 24MP sensor in the Q has amazing colour, the lens is crazy sharp... You have a 35mm and 50mm crop mode, which works in video mode too.
I really wish it had 4K, 3K and 2K high quality video, as the cropping ability from the full frame sensor at 28mm gives you practically a 28-50mm F1.7 OIS zoom.
    Firmware update please Leica!

FilmMan got a reaction from Jimmy in C-LOG coming to 5D mk IV
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV C-Log Update:
All video output will still be 8-bit.
Sampling for DCI 4K will be increased to a 5632 x 2970 pixel sensor area resulting in a 1.27x Crop factor.
Sampling for UHD will be from a 5472 x 3078 pixel sensor area resulting in a 1.29x Crop factor.
Both modes are accurately down-sampled to their final resolutions.
Existing frame rates will remain the same.
The current 1:1 4K sampling mode will remain an option for situations benefiting from the 1.78x Crop factor.
There will also be new full-sensor 3K modes added including 60fps and HDR 24fps.Both will use a line-alternating sampling method, so quality will be inferior to the improved 4K format (but better than the existing FullHD 1080p format.) It is unclear whether the file resolution in the final firmware will be the full 3360 x 1890 format or down-sampled to 3072 x 1728.
FullHD 1080p will also use this 3K full-sensor mode with down-sampling for a noticeable improvement in perceived resolution.
FullHD 1080p will also receive a modest frame rate boost to 72/75fps.
The EOS 5D Mark IV will gain the XF-AVC file format at 120Mbps (4:2:0) and 200Mbps (4:2:2). Both formats should require low enough data rates to accommodate UHS-I U3 type SD Cards.
Reports relating to a possible service job for the 5D Mark IV are the result of the heat sinks on current units not performing well in some environments when used with the newer firmware. This is because of the increased processing load from the enlarged video sampling area. Newer units will ship with an improved heat sink while existing 5D Mark IV units can be retrofitted. Pricing is unconfirmed for that servicing.
The newer firmware will still work in non-serviced cameras, but this may result in premature temperature warnings.

There is a psychological war going on between the powers that be and this is the fallout. If each of us people can refrain from being unkind, no matter what anyone says to us, while still kindly stating our views, and having empathy for those who don't realize they are victims of programming, we can start making progress to having better relationships with each other. We are not separate beings on this planet, we are not separate from our environment, we are all one continuous living being. Separation is an illusion: this is nature and quantum physics. What good is the hand yelling at the foot?
Creating another process in your mind, another level of awareness, that watches all your thoughts and actions as a separate being, is how to get started. Another way is to imagine there is always a camera pointed at you, and watching the camera is your ideal self, your significant other, your best friend, God, a jury, whatever construct works for you. Then start meditating every day for at least 5 minutes.

Really disappointing to hear how many useful idiots there are ready to tear down the USA for anything we do or advocate. And why? Just because we want to protect our citizens from killers---who have said they're coming. Just because we don't want our leaders to engineer an invasion of our land that will change its culture and character and polity for the worst we are monsters.
Wanting to be safe doesn't mean we're bigots and white supremacists. It just means we don't want to open the flood gates to those who hate us--it means we don't want in America what we have seen happen all over Europe, where leftist useful idiots holding the reins of power have put the lives and safety of their own citizens in peril and their culture at dire risk.
I'm sick of being called a bigot and a racist because I reject the Globalist agenda. That's the low garbage of the cad who has no argument and is incapable of reasoning and weighing the evidence---and has learned NOTHING from the European tyrants of the 20th century. Globalist centralized command and control power is a river of blood, of Kristallnachts on steroids, and massive starvation "for the greater good" than Mao ever dreamed of.
The poison of collectivism has untold millions bamboozled under the rhetorical flourishes of various "isms"---all with the intent of creating a prison planet for the few of the cognoscenti to rule and bind us all.

I don't, so I continue to lock my door at night when I go to sleep.  Am I xenophobic?  Maybe, maybe not, but I sleep better at night with my door locked regardless of if my perception of what is and isn't a threat is realistic (or politically correct.)

Plastic explosives could be hidden inside a working LiPo battery (Lithium by itself can explode and burn just by contacting water). Checked bags get heavier screening for bomb chemistry via high-energy devices: http://www.sds.l-3com.com/products/explosivedetect.htm. Additionally, checked bags are stored inside more resilient containers in the cargo hold vs. the relatively thin airframe where passengers sit. A bomb might also be used to gain access to a locked cockpit.
These directives come from intelligence agencies and were also implemented on various levels from the prior administration, only now becoming politicized and amplified by people unable or unwilling to seek the truth, unaware that they are pawns in a much bigger plan. The programming is brilliant as the victims aren't even aware of what's been done to them, where their first unconscious reactions are typically expletives, irrational behavior, silliness, ad hominem, and complete inability for calm, rational, and polite discussion when their programming is challenged. How effective and deep does this unconscious programming go? Does Shaq really believe the Earth is flat, or is he just trying to get traffic for his podcast? http://gizmodo.com/some-photos-of-earth-for-shaq-who-thinks-the-earth-is-1793422926
I've been studying the comment sections on MSM sites (all sides), comments on this forum too, and most people don't realize how close we are to nuclear annihilation. Everyone is acting like children insulting the previous and current leadership and each other. No one is trying to get along or solve the bigger issues. This is what the people behind the curtain want- everyone fighting each other! If the rumors of alien overlords here to protect us are false*, we're in big trouble if we don't start working together to live in harmony with each other and the planet. It looks like a highly advanced civilization on Earth was destroyed about 12,000 years ago. Are we going to repeat it? Will the iRock and iStick become the cool new gadgets?
    * UFOs look more like advanced terrestrial vehicles from everything I've seen. 99.999% look like hoaxes (nice job decorating your "UFO" like a Christmas tree). Truly alien or interdimensional vehicles could be invisible to us.
