Canon have just announced they are opening a Professional Technology Centre in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard. Needless to say the November announcement now looks almost certain to mark a huge push by Canon into RED’s back yard.

Find it on eBay Recently a Leica factory man came out and said he was ‘troubled’ by Sony’s approach to the NEX camera – that of a small body but large lenses. It’s an interesting remark and quite political because Leica are known to be developing their own competing mirrorless camera. Not a rangefinder like the M9 but consumer priced.
A huge change is happening to the camera industry. Cameras are no longer aimed at people who love cameras and this isn’t a photographic industry any more. Instead it is morphing into a consumer entertainment industry leaving many abandoned niches and gaps in its wake.
